I wouldn't use adjective innovative when describing story of this psychological "horror" game, because we all have played some action, rpg game whose story is based around good and evil, gods and demons, lightness and darkness, peoples' virtues and defects...well...basically almost every game is about that. But in Alan Wake's case it's about lightness and darkness,it's the matter of Alan's state of mind. Will he prevail? Will he fight darkness? Will he endure and survive enough to finish the manuscript?
Along the way Alan never questioned himself and he prevailed...in some sense of that word.
I think that Remedy team tried to create non-linear storytelling and,in my opinion that have done excellent job. It's like we took "Departure" in a form of a book, and started reading 4 chapter then 1 chapter and we still understood the story, but they aren't read randomly and that dramatic order of reading is part of excellency of this game.Storytelling is different than those in most games like in GTA,Skyrim...it's more like one in Amnesia or The Witcher.I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
Well, since my review was amazing so far I trust that it is expected of me to analyse Alan's last words.Well I really don't know what to say, you've probably seen posts about this subject.Common opinion is that darkness isn't limited like lake, thou it's more like ocean, infinite and that it is sometimes sleeping and sometimes is awaken, same like waves who are sometimes serene and sometimes wild(Thomas Zane's speech at the beginning). "To its ports I've been" is probably related to the fact that he was touched by the darkness, same as Alan, and that diving equipment supports my story.
You probably read about how bad is the camera, boring gameplay I wont get into that, they are probably right, but graphics are amazing.
If you liked what I wrote upvote and follow me(gamespot like whore) and if you don't...

There is a good plot here somewhere, but horrible combat and cheap scares bury it.

I really enjoyed this game. The game play was a combo of shooter and action play, some puzzle play and interactions.
