Assassin's Creed II: Discovery User Review
The best Assassin's Creed on DS but not fantastic.

- The Bottom Line:
- "Rent it first"
When I first saw this at my local gaming store, I said to myself that I must buy this game. I have always been a fan of the Assassin's Creed games. However I had my doubts as I did not like the first Assassin's Creed on DS but I brought anyway.
My first impression of it was that it was quite good, the graphics are almost perfect, interesting story. However after playing through the first memory sequences, it started to get repetitive and insanely hard. I found that that the tutorials were harder than they should be and some of it was not even needed to be explained. I got my friends to try it, vary of skill and gameplay and all found hard. I had to get pass the first tutorial for all of them and most could not do stealth missions. I would say the only gameplay I liked were the chase missions as they were not too hard and not too easy.
As I played the game, I started to see how dull the storyline was. It could have been done a lot better. After finishing the game, I found the story was short and not very long. It had felt like random missions had been stuck just to make it feel longer and it did not work very well. The movement was a little clunky and took awhile to get used to. I found myself just pressing the attack button to kill, occasionally take pauses to get rid of the enemies block.
Overall, if more effort had been put into this game it could have been a whole lot better. With this game its either you like it or you don't. I found it a waste of $70 that could have been better spent of a different game. I would say if you are interested rent it first as you may be disappointed.

They should of stick to platforming (similar to Altair's Chronicles) then trying to incorporate 'freeroaming' style.

Discovery is a great side scroller in the AC2 universe and should be owned by any AC fan or platforming fan.
