GS News - Ubisoft ditches DRM

I buy all my PC games. So I am not all that concerned about passwords, and anti-piracy measures in games. However, when you tell me how me I can only install a game that I bought only one of my machines, NOW we got problems. I don't even mind the always on feature if the interface is useful, like Steam. But, like Steam, you should be able to play offline if you already have a game installed through Uplay that has been activated already. I don't care what pirates think about DRM schemes. I'm glad Ubisoft went in this direction.

I was actually just thinking earlier that I wouldn't get farcry 3 on PC because I remembered how much of a pain installing AC2 was

if anyone remember halo 2 for pc- not even one actuly pirated the game 

why ask? because the game needed 1 time online activation becuase if not it would just install the trial and no more 

that's why the game was such a succsues because no one would be able to pirate it 

but the best way the deal with piracy is online activation which kills piracy

every single pc game ever made should be like diablo 3's drm.

Even if they use DRM like Assassins creed II I will still buy Assassins creed games no matter what.

UBI please don't end assassins creed series and please make another prince of persia game.

These numbers in the last article, how are they determined.?  Many of us paid and did not steal the games, so how do they determine number of games stolen?.  Dosen't DRM cost to include in game manufacturing?  They were loosing from the start.  I still say, that it should be a way nothing is stolen.

Too bad most of their games matters little these days.

I mean, I really loved Splinter Cell, and what's it today? That's right.

Far Cry 3 I might be interested in but will not buy into the hype like with FC2...will await reviews.

95 to 98 percent piracy?  How exactly do they know that?  I think that CEO is making up numbers to justify ticking off their paying customers.

I stopped buying their stuff when settlers 7 and silent hunter 5 came out-- both games I really wanted but didn't tolerate the dictatorial DRM.  I never pirated their stuff even though I could have easily enough. 

It will be a while before I trust them again.

F*UCK DRM!! they should have just ditched it altogether,it's no use anyway, it cost them money to develope,

it pisses off gamers and hackers just LOVE them bc they put up a challange!

And there's always someone who puts out a working crack on the interwebs!They even say it themselves that it doesn't work!If 95% is pirated why even bother making DRM?To piss of the 5% players who actually pay?!

I'm not a hater, so if Ubisoft starts walking into the right path and start respecting PC gamers. I'll buy their games again.(As long as they good and not shi#$ console ports.)

I'll watch how this pans out.. I still don't trust Ubisoft. If over some time they prove to have learned the methods they were using were excessive, and they can prove they are done with being like they were, I will start buying their PC games again.. good start Ubisoft, keep it up!
