Firstly, the innocent devils weren't exactly a new feature considering they were based off the familiar system from Symphony of the night, though they did kick it up a notch with evolutions. And finally, as a closing statement, it is not difficult to recommend this game to fans at all, especially fans of the series who have been there from the beginning, all those well thought out links it makes to Castlevania 3 (For example, the innocent devils are all enemies you face in Castlevania 3), all those memorable Castlevania tracks mixed into brand new ones (you'll hear parts of music from Bloodlines, IV, SOTN and more if you listen carefully) and so much more make this an excellent addition to the series, and a great try for the series at making it 3D, it may not be perfect but it's a damn sight better than Lords of Shadow.

I have never gotten into this one for some reason. Too bad though, it looks alright. The whole thing with the attacks being repetitive is the same with all other Castlevania's... you usually stick to what works, so I don't see it being a big deal.
