@Renno27 Fail to see how you not mentioning C&C3 is a problem. I mentioned it in the first place.

Renoo27
Renoo27

@Sgthombre: Dude I didn't even mention C&C3. But I totally agree, the diversity between the factions in that game is awesome. Anyway, I'm just gonna spew some thoughts I'm having. While I agree diversity can be a positive thing, it's not the only factor that makes a good game. It's like... sometimes a lot of a good thing, rather than some of a lot of good things (if that makes sense), can be better. But to answer your first question on why they went from 9 to 2 factions, like I previously mention, C&C4 didn't have enough development time. In fact, Sam Bass said in a Q&A he did want to get Scrin in there if they had had enough time. Eh, but if it helps you could always say the different classes count as different factions lol.

Sgthombre
Sgthombre

@Renoo27 Hell yeah it does. Taking the time to understand all of the different units and abilites of more than two factions not only extends a game's play time, but makes the experience more epic. As to you other point, the subfactions in C&C3 are completely different from the main factions in how they play. With the Scrin you can easily steamroll your enemy with aircraft, but with one of their subfactions you don't have any. These differences completly alter how you have to play.

Renoo27
Renoo27

@T3DD3Rs: While I love a bit of innovation, C&C4 didn't benifit from enough development time. It has some neat ideas, but EA cut too many corners to reach the deadline. I like the game a lot, but I agree that it isn't up there with the rest of them. Still, I agree with you that it sucks that C&C has had a rough few years. RA3 didn't recieve the reaction it deserved from gamers.

downloaded this off steam for £3.99. worst money i've ever spent. after loving previous C&C games i thought i should watch how the series ends. it doesn't focus on tiberium in the slightest. after watching the intro and seeing a tiberium coverd Manchester i was expecting some awesome cinimatics showing off the green crystals but the game doesnt even mention it. oh yea, and they complety ignore C&C3, the scrin seemed like it never happed, and kane moving into the scrin tower is also ignored. total waste of time, dont even think about buying this game no matter how cheap it is

T3DD3Rs
T3DD3Rs

I feel bad for C&C. In 2009 Red Alert 3 came out and reviews said it was not original. 1 year later they come out with a C&C game the isn't the same old RTS and get slammed for it...

I actually really wanna play this game now, the hate that this game has given is now beyond my comprehension and its rediculous. Im gonna pick this game up as well

This game is good enough fun if you dont compare it to CnC3, its more like Sci fi WiC

BurningClouds
BurningClouds

i like sc 2 more, BUT ive gotten all the games and they r good, so i will definitely pick this up

Renoo27
Renoo27

@Sgthombre: Anyway, getting back to the original point, does diversity really mean better?

Renoo27
Renoo27

@Sgthombre: Oh yeah. Well, having a different unit or support power doesn't make a huge difference. It's still just Allied and Soviets, with a few minscule tweaks, but they still boil down to the same play styles. Not very diverse.

Sgthombre
Sgthombre

@Renoo27 When I play an RTS that has more factions, I feel as if its a more diverse experience. Also, there are 10 factions in RA2, so you proved my point.

Renoo27
Renoo27

Immensly fun game. I really don't see the problem with it.

Renoo27
Renoo27

@Sgthombre: Amount of factions don't decide whether a game is better or not. Plenty of people still prefer RA2 to Kane's Wrath.

Sgthombre
Sgthombre

I don't see a reason to go from C&C3: Kane's Wrath, which has 9 factions, to C&C4, which has 2.

That internet connection also ruined Starcraft 2, i heard there was a way to play it offline but i honestly dont know how

leeo268, i agree with you that we still have blizzard to trust, but EA have completely destroyed the CNC franchise that was of the pioneers of the RTS genre, while Dune 2 was the genesis of the RTS games and then Starcraft was also a pioneer for the use of unique factions with different playstyles (im a zerg player), but in my opinion, i think they should just put the CNC franchise to rest.

Kevin should be a ashamed of himself getting bribe from EA to give better rating or else how can he give a 7 to this piece of junk. You guys should see the rating in Amazon, 87% on one star that is how much the regular folks is disappointed with this game. I can't believe EA had finally put the nail to the coffin of my favorite series. Back to Starcraft 2. At least, I still got Blizzard to trust. Bit worry about Activision take over. I hope they dont fuk up the company like they did to IW and MW2.

Epic fail, I played the demo, It was not playable without connected to the internet, some NOD units look so stupid, they completley ruined the game, was lucky I didn't waste money on this,

Starcraft came out today and is gonna smoke this, this series of games has always been a 7 in my book, Starcraft will be amazing, though Dawn of War is definetly a great RTS as well. I will get this though because the other games have fun gameplay and units and to me is worth a buy! :), but like i said i will probably be playing Starcraft and Dawn of WAr in no time at all.....

OrderandChaos
OrderandChaos

I just started playing this game and already I can see the mediocrity. I haven't been this bored playing a game since F.E.A.R. 2. Man this sucks. I'm going to rush through it so I can get the bad taste out of my mouth before Starcraft 2.

WTF EA? In a sequel, ur supposed to refine and improve the gameplay, not redo it all over!

wow its sad that good games like this series turns for the worst! I expected more from this...it is a very bad indeed! i will not play C&C games in the future if they keep on this same path..waste of money!

All companies are profit driven to some extent. I know the reality of it is that all companies need profit to continue to function. However.. It's the GREEDY part that jacks everything up. Find a company that cares only about the cash flow and nothing about its product nor customers and you find a company produces this kind of crap. Take Blizzard for example. Want to know why they are the top video game producers in the world? Because they take pride in the quality of their games. They have beta tests to ensure optimum performance, balance and overall customer satisfaction on release dates. They spend years making their stuff putting tons of thought and effort into it. Take the quality of their games and compare those to the quality of other companies. The difference is night and day. I hope they continue to do so. However, I'm quite confident that you will see EA having to close it's doors very soon. People just aren't going to pay 50 dollars for nothing.

RTSgamer32

This game makes me regret ever playing a Command And Conquer game. This is game is a rotten, wretched, crappy and a horrible horrible, disgraceful game to the the franchise.

DoW2 not so awesome(i got my own opinion) + coz i like the last DoW series...."unit/upgrade/Tau/building" lastime i play Tiberium Sun series...in skirmish i was able to build a wall to protect my base....now? ahhh..i should have guess...coz from the 1st preview movie...when Kane and Gdi guard walk in...they still using p90 =,=..."the sets less more budget then before"..ahhh..ok must be online??always?? ...i hope they remake this...(lol in my dream) man...i felt sorry for Kane.."Long Live Kane" GIVE WHAT KANE DESERVE~!!!....oww...wth anyway

allinchrist7
allinchrist7

This game is a product of profit driven, greedy publishing companies (EA). I believe that the reason this game turned out to be atrocious is because the creators of this game were not given enough time to make it epic. EA pushes the release date for these games so they can see the $$. That's all they care about. That is why the quality of their games and the quantity of their customers will continue to decrease. At this point I hope EA gets the picture and allow the creators enough time to make great games or go bankrupt and stop wasting money on crap.

@seany1399 Regular Command and Conquer and Red Alert are completely different games. The C&C series is serious while Red Alert is more over the top.

This new approach is pretty fun. I'm fed up of people complaining about needing to be online constantly...who isnt online constantly. The game play is great with a fun and new way to play. I've played all the command and conquer games back in the 90's and even though every one is complaining about the game just because its different I feel it a breath of fresh air and the orchestral soundtrack is great :)
