@Frestifator I own every Command and Conquer game except for C&C4, so I'd say I'm pretty familiar with C&C. Having played all of those, Red Alert is by far the weakest. It had stupid unit design, and any restraint that Westwood had in Red Alert 2 was gone. Mind controlled Giant Squids I can handle, but units that were pretty much transformers, I can't.
well I see bad comments down there and i can see that those come from people not familiar with the C&C franchise. I don't know WHY this game is said to be 'more of tha same' and starcraft 2 is considered so innovative. I get it that Red Alert is a bit cartoonish but they really saved what is emblematic about red alert and then they added a lot of things to enhance it. A whole fraction to be exact, not just several units and some minor tweaks for the same old fractions like in Star craft 2 I'm sorry, but the music alone does miracles. If you find better soundtrack for an RTS it's just unbeleivable.
i found the game irritating and frustrating!!!! not as good as other rts games like starcraft 2 .... company of heroes.....world in conflict or even....warcraft 3.
Top quality acting and a lot of fun! Single player has a lot to offer! Three different campaigns from the Americans, Russians, and Japanese! Really well put together game. They have the graphics on a very low setting for this review or is it even a beta they are showing? On my PC looks a heck of a lot better. While I was playing I didnt come across any bugs.
I'm enjoying the single player campaign in this game but could see how it could get boring after thats finished. Also appreciate the fact that I can run this thing on my 3-year old laptop.
the story line is very weak, and i really hate the colored outline around the units, u get bored of this game very fast right after u do the campagne, 1 thing i liked in the story mode is that in some of them, u have a few units and u have to do some special task, then u get the MCV''s to build ur base, i still think RA2 and yuri was better. oh and its really stupid how they put a hot girl in every faction with the buttons undone to see the boobs, they should focus on making the game better, not putting sexy girls in their movies
I hate that damn commercial about battlefield. i saw it right then in gametrailers, and then i came here. GAH!
its generally the same as tiberium wars except for the fact that RA3 is very over the top and also quite cartoony. a great RTS though.
I think Yuri had all the perfect characteristics of a great villain. There should be more of him in this game. i hope he will come back some day with a surprise...
@ChuckSeabreeze: Why does everyone keep asking this? He was eaten by a dinosour. Did not many people finish the campaign?
@grillbar: Don't be so biased with your reviews. Some people mind not mind if it's slow. You might prefer Generals multiplayer but it doesn't mean everyone else would. :\ And fi you don't like Navy you probably shouldn't get this game at all. It WAS a big thing so everyone who was gonna get it should have heard about it. But I don't see the problem with Navy anyway. It may have been kept a bit seperate in previous C&C games but I felt the RA3 campaign really eases you in. You just gotta be open-minded. The idea is that Navy, Air, and Ground units all blend together, and RA3 does it extremely well.
I would have thought this game was going to get at least a 9.0 i'm definitely gonna have to pick this one up.
i love these games (first compter game i ever played), the only problem i normaly find online i just dont last 5 seconds
i wonder what happened to Yuri...i guess nobody liked him enough to bring him back. idk if i liked his faction is RA2, but i liked him as a character. Then again, what character, besides Tanya, has ever made more than one appearance in the Red Alert franchise?
I don't like modern strategy games. On tge contrary, historical strategies can hold me in my PC for days!
Eddieham13 these games have always had an element of cheese to them guess you have never played them before... So don't complain about what fans of this series enjoy.
why does RTS have so few units these days? i'll never forgot TA (Total Annihilation) which is still (beside DK2 (Dungeon Keeper 2)) the most awesome RTS ever! which had like: 5 robot units each lvl times 3 lvls = 15 same with air, tanks, ships. so each army had like 60 units EACH! thats like 120 units total, and they all felt rather uniq compaird to their counterparts. not to mention all those add-on units that was made by fangirls, jebus! in the end you could have like over 200 diffrent units. so man up dev.! use that head of yours and start giving us more units!
And also i dont think ive had any problems with it yet works fine and there is no glitches from what ive seen so far anyways.
Yes that is a problem the very few maps.... Hate navel battles theres none like medium powered units in the water just weak and powerful.
the ussr and the alliance campainge is fun. dont like the empire they are weak in unit but strong in defence multiplayer sux due to the fact that there aint enough maps and they arent all that gr8 if you dont want naval biggest problem with multiplayer is its SO DAMN SLOW and there is no way of increasing the speed of the game play zero hour for multi and only this if you really wanna se the campainge witch is really fun
Hey I recognize that chinese actor. I think he was the flight attendant from Cory in the House in the episode where that russian dude takes back Alaska
nice game but the graphics could have been better i was hopeing for graphics more like Tib wars not RA 2 but other then that i think its great takes strategy to work all the units and i find the storys fine its not supposed to be realistic its a Different timeline so obviously things are going to be differnt the only thing i had to complain about is that there are not enough different planes and things for allies they are so easily defeated 80% of the time that there wasnt much to do with them althought most of the units have good abilitys none of them can really go up against any of the units of the soviets or rising sun and the other being that almost all of the rising suns units are over powered way to much.
there is something for everyone in this game, a lot of detail which long after you've completed the campaigns you'll be finding new things you never seen. Patching process is faster with the new dedicated live team too.
