Again zolos100 that is your opinion, and you have a right to it but don't force yours onto others or resort to name calling or labeling. I am a"true" gamer too as I have been playing games since pong and the old text games were around. I have used analog controllers and my preference is still a keyboard and mouse. Why is this so difficult for you to accept and understand. The issue here is not about which hardware is used, the issue is the developer/publishers responsibility to the customer to make sure the time and effort is put into the port to provide the same level of gameplay that was intended regardless of original platform. This is what all pc gamers are complaining about and the only answer we get is, to bad pc games don't make a profit because you pirate them too much!!! and while some of that may be true it is complete BS and goes into another conversation I do not nor will not get into.
zolos100 most of us using pc's as a gaming platform don't like controllers and prefer mouse and keybrd. It's ok if you think they're great but don't assume we do.
@phantom3165 Ok,but that really sound like prejudice.im a truly gamer with expensive mouse, keybord, mouspad and all that, but i play games like there are design to play.i listen people complaing about f1,fifa or wings of pray and playng them with keybord??!well i drive on momo, flying on logitech with fully enjoinment.for me its pure and simple, dragon age with 3200dpi,dark soul with x360 gamepad and i dont get nervous.if i can do that in serbia with wages of 300e sure can everybody else.p.s. off course im nervous in dark soul becouse its ridiculously hard.i think im going to give up.
controls are just fine if you use x360 gamepad or logitech xinput.i cant bealive that you dont have a proper gamepad in 2012.how are you playing arcade racing, sport simulation,3th person game, platforms or fighting games??there are cheaper than games,so stop complaining and do your self a favourite.
Game need some fps stabilizer, on low end system game runs too fast, watching how others play is more enjoyable then playing , controls is disaster, game is UNPLAYABLE coz of that, very badly ported! After 30 mins ofplaying i deleted game, controls is so bad, i even no found how to choose armor and stuff in right location, i pressed everything on keyboard but nothing. With controller same crap, wont help! Let console games stay in the hole better, PURE FAIL!
I got the game, it was alright...the game didn't run very smoothly but I didn't mind since I don't really have a powerful PC. The controls were a bit iffy on keyboard/mouse but I got used to it simply by changing some controls I found inconvenient but getting used to it was a lot better than moaning like a drama queen. The lock-on was BS since it switched targets by moving the mouse but I didn't have that much of a hard time fighting without the lock on...
i fall off the cliff... my 6000 souls and humanity are gone... damn the controls...
damn you FROM! i hope you fall off a cliff... kidding.
i dont have xbox 360 controller, i use keyboard+mouse in this game the controls are not fully customizable, you cant assign number keys at the game and the mouse is too sensitive, darn the boss fights is hard, im forced to play this game "keyboard only" anyone knows a fix for the key bindings? im only at taurus demon boss the controls suck on pc dont want to buy 360 controller, i can play witcher 2 fine on keyboard+mouse without a headache damn this console port....
i also apply the graphics fix and loving it. SOLID game, but not a very good port.
This is why you buy it for the platform it was made for. The PS3. lol!!
It's no different with the RTS games that were ported from the PC to the consoles. The controls sucks on the consoles when you don't have a keyboard and mouse. Even for the PS3 that does utilize a K/M, it still doesn't play as well as on a PC. The problems works both ways.
This series should've never gone multiplatform imo. Was an exclusive in a way that made ps3 much better than other consoles (just exclusive game pick wise, trying my best to not sounding very fanboyish). One of the Only reasons why i got a ps3 was for the awesome exclusives =\
@killlo because this game hasnt been around for the better part of a year already.
Modders have created and released mods that apparently fix all of the game's problems. All in just a couple days. Google and enjoy.
@TrueGB its true. the game run very well now.
is one of the best rpg games in pc story.
to anyone saying that PC players should be happy about a crappy port, that FROM was generous to port it at all, and that it was probably the last time they make that mistake (basically, what SingletreeAve just said)
I suppose PS3 players should be happy Bethesda made a port of Skyrim to the PS3. Oh wait, it has LOTS of lag to the point of being unplayable. Whatever. Bethesda was generous to port it at all. Probably last time they make that mistake.
@rogerpenna The difference is that the PC port of Dark Souls is not unplayable. Obviously, not all ports are created equal. I fail to see what's so crappy about the Dark Soul's port.
The port runs and looks exactly like the console version. If you install the mod, the graphics are what you'd expect from a PC port. Seems like a lot of "PC gamers" here wanted something more. Regardless of platform, FROM has created a masterpiece with regard to gameplay, level-design, and RPG elements. Those who want to use it as an excuse to bash ports without giving it a chance are missing out. It was never intended to be a PC game. FROM was generous to port it at all. Probably the last time they make that mistake.
@SingletreeAve Generous? They are giving away for free the game?? Damn, and to think I paid for it.
Just shut up with your console fanboy nonsensic crap.
I suppose PS3 players should be happy Bethesda made a port of Skyrim to the PS3. Oh wait, it has LOTS of lag to the point of being unplayable. Whatever. Bethesda was generous to port it at all. Probably last time they make that mistake.
@rogerpenna You missed the point. I prefer PC over console. FROM ported it at the request of the PC gaming community. They were open about it being a straight port, and that's what they delivered. Now they're getting grief becauase it's not something more. Platform biases aside, it is an awesome game well worth the $40. There are no issues that make the PC version inferior to PS3 or Xbox. Now you don't have to be a "console fanboy" to experience it. Have you even given it a chance, or are you too busy ranting to actually play games.
1024x720px cap? Don't you guys know that anything below 1080p can cause severe eye cancer and chronic pixelation of the iris?!
@RustedTruck650 the console dlc releases the extra already in the pc version... hence the prepare to die edition... or did that just fly over your head?
This game reminds me of resident evil 4 when it first came out. Praised by everybody on Dreamcast (console) but suffered badly as a lousy port to the PC later. Hope things improve like RE4 coz Dark Souls is a great game on its own, similar to RE4 back then.
on a different note: are there new areas as well or only remade areas from the core game? cause all i've seen so far is alvina's garden..
how dare they bring this out for PC 1st? it's a sequel to a ps3 exclusive... well lucky you, PC gamers, enjoy! is there a date yet for ps3 release?
I have died so many times in this game that I no longer fear death in real life.
Can you explain to me how that is fun? Because seriously I don't get it. Trial and error gameplay was never my favourite thing.
@blitzinD I guess it is the gratification you get from defeating a difficult situation. That 'sigh of relief' is genuine, not like many other games that cater to you getting past its more difficult points of its adventure. It may require some grinding and campfiring (resets the mobs) to collect souls to raise your level but that subtle character development really shows that certain areas can in fact become easier with a little growth and some patience. I know I didn't sell you on this game at all really because I do understand that it is an acquired taste. Its brutal, harsh, and heartbreaking at times.
The sweetest rewards are those which are the hardest to earn.
Loving this game so far, actually quite beautiful with the resolution fix, had a leftover Xbox 360 controller from Dreamfall ( you wanna talk about bad ports?) and just got killed by my first invader. Great times ahead. I can foresee a ragequit but I think I'll have fun getting there.
The PC version is CRAP and needs some patching quickly. I have the game and i am very disappointed
@Simplythebest12 Multiple mods that fix all of the major problems have now been released.
i suggest that you guys ignore this mindless roddent, all hes postin is the same msg as in copy and pasting
@Simplythebest12 these are common issues with new releases to a new format. hang in there mate I have no doubts patches are on the way.
Didn't have any problems with framerate or lag from this game. Modded.it to get high resolution and even used nVidia control panel for 16x AF, FXAA enabled. Just don't enable vsync via the control panel it'll lag. The frame rate cap works no lag even in Blightown where iit slows down to a crawl in the PS3.
Use trainers to play this game in god mode rather than rage quit, at least you beat the game and get your money's worth. Lol.
