I havent played the game yet (and I played d1 and 2 as a kid) but do you think they made this OVER casual? (im not saying d1 and 2 werent casual so shup). I absoultely HATE the non universal item pick-up, that is just beyond barbaric and has  casual mommy! daddy! that man stole my item! written all over it.

Eh, it supposedly gets much, much better in hell/inferno.
Before that though, yes the game is brainlessly simple if you've ever played a videogame before.

That's one thing I really dislike about D3. You essentially have to sit through craptastically boring gameplay to get to the fun stuff.

playing solo is a bit boring.  But playing with friends is a lot more fun especially going through hell & inferno difficulty (assuming u r doing this)

But then again when D2 was released multiplayer was relatively still trying to emerge from its infancy.  But between 12 years there are loads of multiplayer games that has been released & i think the bar for multiplayer games has been raised.

I feel that they have made it too casual in some regards. No more skill point distribution makes me sad.

Honestly skill points were pretty pointless. people will build their char the right way or the wrong way. Oooo I'm going to make a necromancer with full DEX! People basically built their chars the same way. And in any case equipping gear will change your play style without needing to redistribute points

As an avid Diablo 1-2 player, the system in DII was very flawed, you basically put points into a skill/attribute and it had very little effect in game unless you put in atleast 5 or greater. Also, you can still add attributes to the game int he from of crystals and they literally act the same way. Diablo 3 is no where near casual friendly, while it is easy to catch on you have to work at it inorder to fully unlock the potiental of your character. FYI casual fide ame is Skyrim.
