Zauron posted...In sharp contrast to the previous video, things go well here for me as I finally get the sword that was talked about earlier in this thread, meaning I can now properly fight ghosts and zombies!

I forgot to mention that. I believe you could ha e found it in that chest you opened in the 3 ogre battle video. Otherwise you can buy it from the guy after you finish the quest.
If you want Caldboldg for lightning damage go all the way to the north then south through the Canyon. You should be able to handle the bandits at your level. Caldboldg appears on various chest there I remember getting it 3 times on 3 runs there but I can't remember what chest. The most recent time I got it on my solo playthrough I literally went somewhere I never went before. I know for a fact because only a small character can go there.
Anyway bring at least 5 Skeleton keys. The place where it can frequently looted is an underground dungeon towards the end of the Canyon.
I don't have the guide but I think you can get Almace on the eastern side of the witchwood. Problem is you had to complete a quest with Quina earlier in the game then another quest later to even open that area up.

Panopictonguy: had i of known you was streaming solo i would have watched. Ive played this game to death so would be fun to watch some of the challenges as i am to bored to go through with em myself.
Anyways i will be watching this zauron as i promised i would after you solo'ed the chimera in the demo. Cant wait to see you fight the cockatrice that is by far my most hated enemy in the game i only ever take it on as a ranged class as those multiple arrow skills (tenfold arrow ftw) seem to do the business against its ugly mug.

I did the Witchwood quest with Quina in one of the first videos, is this the one I have to do? Have I missed something I need to do to open this area?

Should be interesting to see you fight a metal golem.

Do any of those appear before completing the main storyline? I'd like to try one out anyway, but I was only planning to take the run to the end of the main storyline, not necessarily the so-called "post game". I figured that was sufficient to show that you could solo the game as a base class.

Yeah there is a spot in Witch wood where you can find one. Though I can't help you with what quest directs you through that area, but it's not a post game thing.

I've been to both Witchwood areas, I assume you mean the second one I unlocked in the Witch Hunt quest. I saw a couple inert golems there, or at least I thought they were inert, is there some way you wake them up? Just walk up and smack them? I figured some other quest later would send me back there and have them wake up.

The Golems are quest related. One of the witchwood quest called Metal to Metal.

When and where can I start this quest? Do I have to get through some more main story quests first?

Hey just thought i let you know,p since your doing a solo run it is possible to hit the tip of the wings on ur dragon as a fighter. There is a sweet spot where you can climb up to, and id your doing it right, you will hit with your standard x button hit attack on the 2nd swing. Just tested this on offline ur, so if your planning to do ur dragon then its still possible to destroy all weakpoins as a fighter.

Part 32: Volgarr vs. Chimera (also Arisen's Bond and end of Mercedes quests):

So I checked out this fight on my main save, and I'm forced to concede that it would be impossible as a solo Fighter, or nearly so.
I spent about 40 minutes just trying to get a single hit on the one in the tree by jumping off the golem, but he's just not tall enough for my short sword to reach it. Perhaps as a Warrior but not as a Fighter. Doesn't help that he's thrashing around like he's enraged the entire time.
I felt like I was fighting the camera more than anything though, it really doesn't like to let you change its focus while you are climbing, so most of the time I couldn't tell where I was in relation to the medal, but at one point I jumped dead on but still wasn't high enough to hit it with a swing. Even if I did, it would take about 50 successful hits with a sword to actually destroy it (Fighters can't use blunt weapons and those things resist pierce).
Some have said you could throw things at it, but I couldn't find anyway to throw anything upwards or be at a high enough vantage to throw something straight at it.
So yeah, if I meet one of these as Volgarr, I'll likely just break a few of the easy-to-reach medals to get Electrum in case I need it (and use forgeries if I need more than one) and otherwise avoid the fight.
This means Phantoms, Metal Golems, and from what I hear, possibly Wights are just better avoided as a solo Fighter (another thread said when they get low on health they refuse to ever drop low enough to hit with melee). Everything else so far seems more than doable though, and I'm still hoping the game will be beatable (at least the main story, not sure on this post-game, I've tried to avoid learning too much about what happens then so not sure).
Lame!

That's essentially why I had to quit my warrior and stay assassin. Id like to slap things hard as **** with a two-hander but it's immensely inefficient.
