We speak to Pete Hines about the final stages of development of Fallout 3.
I loved the old fallout games and I'll love this...most probably more than my family and close friends...my girlfriend may have some issues with my prioritisation of time as well...hmmmm meh
This game is going to suck for these reasons: 1) No PS3 DLC, WTF!! 2)The charector animations suck, and will lose the immersion STRAIGHT AWAY! 3) and finaly, its made by Bethesdafail, and they balls up Oblivion, Damn son, yes they did.
Regardless of what anyone says, this game is going to be great. Oblivion itself is still one of the best games ever made.
i love the fallout series and i completely embrace the new spin on it. if you don't like the game bethesda made then don't play it. but please don't go on about staying loyal to a winning formula of fallout and how this is just an other fps. please note that there are many fallout fans looking forward to this game. gaming has come so far in 11 years, obviously we aren't getting a remake of an 11 year old game.
Sometimes people fall for the hype of graphics engine and marketing. The real gist of a great game is the overall value. How does the game play? Is the story captivating? Does the picture present the story the way it should be told? Does the interaction (input) seem intuitive? Eye candy is just one aspect of good quality. If a developer spent time and money to answer all of those questions then reason dictate that the game will likely be of good quality. Unless of course the developers are totally clueless and have no eye for gaming, which clearly is not the case with Bethesda. So, don't knock the oblivion engine. I would've love a top down isometric game too but Interplay died so get over it. Its time for the fallout story to be told in its next chapter. Eleven years is long enough.
Superb graphics and built around the story laid down by two of the classic games from years ago. The original Fallout games are among my all time favourites, makes me wonder then why Bethesda took a winning formula and threw it out the window. Instead of a turn based game with a deep and rich storyline they give us yet another FPS, as if there were not enough of them about. I'm sure that the game will be great for FPS fans but a letdown for old Fallout fans. If I want to play a FPS I will buy one built on something better than the Oblivion engine thx.
I like this game but i still don't get excited for something that i saw but definetly get it
i just noticed the I AM LENGEND ending...i wonder if you can have pets... id want a evil demon unicorn with bad teeth
Its totaly gay that PS3 doesnt have downloadable content...what good will that do to microsoft...all it does is make microsoft loose money for bribing
@blackmage0_15 Interesting but I think that Morrowind had just as many towns (include all expansions) and it had imperial guard quests, temple quests, vampire quests, and i remember something about writing your name using utensils. I prefer Oblivion though, which does have a larger map. Anyways looking forward to Fallout 3 and will probably buy ASAP.
Most likely it's gonna be smaller than the world in Morrowind, but something tells me that they gonna supply us with expansions packs in the following years.
I can't see why people need to argue about wether this is a RPG or a FPS, or if it will be a mix of this and that... Just look at it for what it is without trying to label it and it seems to be a really good game according to me...
this game looks amazing, as soon as i get i can say good bye to my socail life, not that it was very impressive to start off with lololol
Bethesda usualy does that to you , it gets in the game in a way that you cant leave it anymore
@Humorguy basic Alright. What you say is a fair point, except, I see a few points that you could have given some thought. For example, morrowind was DEFINITELY not bigger than oblivion. Perhaps in map size, but consider dungeons, towns, buildings, expansions. (Shivering Isles is way bigger than morrowind's expansion.) But it should be noted that morrowind was a much deeper experience, with a much more detailed plot. It is as you say though, we must wait to play it ourselves before we really get a feel if this really is Fallout 3, or Brotherhood of Steel 2.
First he's Public Relations - do you REALLY think he would have said 'we were going to have a big world, but decided to make it smaller!'? Of course he was going to say they have made it bigger - but we don't know A) if that is true and B) what size is it in relation to say, Oblivion? We know Oblivion was smaller than Morrowind with less content and a 'lighter' story, so the question is, have they made the game smaller and with even less content than Oblivion? And brownba3, If you look at all the videos this game definitely seems more shooter than Oblivion. Yes, you had spells and bow and arrows, but you also had stealth and 5 ways to complete quests, go through the front door as a warrior, cast an invisibility spell and creep in as a mage, use the shadows as a thief. You had multiple guilds, etc that will not be in this game, so will it be a cross between STALKER and Fallout 2? If so, will that be acceptable? I think this game has lots of questions about it, and we'll only find the answers when this game is reviewed by the media AND Users and we start getting a feel for what this game's like to PLAY. Especially when it comes to the PC, it seems harder and harder to find decent games. There's a lot of people relying on Fallout 3, and if this isn't the game, what else is there?!
Sorry to be a little cynical - but I love the comments and reviews made from people who haven't played it yet or don't really understand RPG vs FPS and have only non play experience. Comments on graphics make sense, but that is really about it - we've all watched all of the demos (wished we could have played a demo!!) and can see what we think it might be like, but this is an RPG - the role playing aspect needs to be experienced before it can be commented on - noobs. It will have shooter aspects - just as oblivion had shooter aspects with bows and arrows. The fear that Bethesda may ruin the game/series is a valid concern - especially for those individuals who played Fallout 1&2 or Baldurs gate - and then Oblivion - and weren't happy. But - Bethesda did pick up the series - and build it - Interplay went out of business - give Bethesda some credit - if you are afraid that FO3 will destroy the series - don't play it. 1&2 are still out there and you can buy and play them! I wasn't a fan of Oblivion's graphics - think these look much better - and hope the GORP system (think it is Gorp - but the SPECIAL... aspect of development) is a little better than the Oblivion character Development - but we will see. I hope to see you all's reviews and thoughts on the 29th... I for one am leaving work 1/2 day on the 28th and calling in sick on the 29th...until then, Make mine Marvel...
This is going to be another masterpiece, just like 1 & 2. (special note for the "i Am Legend" ending xD)
Far Cry, is a FPS, this is an RPG that happens to have some shooting, they have absolutely nothing in common, so any comparison is retarded.
thrashmaster Posted Oct 13, 2008 9:19 am GMT I can't wait to get my pipboy 3000 clock from the amazon.com exclusive edition I have also been trying to figure out how to make/find a blue jumpsuit for halloween. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just buy some overalls and a slim jean jacket or maybe even a blue long sleeve and then use some white tape to put "101" on your back lol.
qqqwwweeerrrttt, I agree with you. Elder Scrolls IV was a great game and this looks a lot like it, the shooting mechanics aren't that great but overall its a great game. Pluses and minuses.
u guys are forgeting tht this isnt a shooter, its mostly and rpg game that has to do with some shooting so you cant judge this game by how the aiming is, or how relistic it is its more about exploring, comunicating, doing interesting quests and stuff like that. we should be glad that they did such a good effort on the shooting mechanics eaven if its not a shooter and you cant compare farcry to this because they are two totally different games.
you know... i was deciding between Farcry 2 and this...i'm probably gonna have to go with farcry..the demos don't look that great. The game itself seems too full of left-right down-up movements,if you catch what i'm trying to say, it's kind of like oblivion. I like how video game developers have been putting more and more realistic, life like, movement into recent games..but this game disappoints me.
docaston He says at the end of the vid Oct 28th, but on my page where i'm typing this comment it says the 31st, but i am on gamespots uk site. And its defo not out here till then.
Where is everyone getting the 31st from it says under gamespots release date the 28th, as well as every where else.
theres no ps3 dlc, sorry......If u watch the other interview with him on gametrailers they said exclusive dlc for xbox and pc----prolly some bribe from microsoft..But don't doubt getting the dlc on disc, could happen.
@wroledan Yes I think there will be, in a preview talked of your character helping a boy to save his Dad, and with the choice of either letting him die, or saving him.
