We give you reasons why Ubisoft is hoping Far Cry 3's multiplayer can compete with Call of Duty and Battlefield.
So many hopes, so many fears! Waiting for this game is driving me INSANE! And have I ever told you the definition....of insanity?
i never really liked online play much. I prefered fighting bots mainly and having splitscreen multiplayer/co-op with brother. At least he doesnt run off do his own thing and we have each others backs. ^^ and much easier when have someone right next to you then online as well
Making it more like CoD may generate some extra sales, but Far Cry 2 had such immense gun play. The controls were a bit sluggish, but the feel was unlike anything else console wise. If this is destined to be a CoD like title I just hope they still keep the map maker, most games today provide next to nothing in terms of creating but meager map editing tools. FC2 ability to provide players with applications needed to push fourth immersive level designs was right on the money, even if they 'get it' this time around or impress big wigs it's never going to sell as well as CoD even if it is better bit for bit... So why not stick to its guns? The campaign looks great, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the MP, I just miss titles that were varied. Games can be of the same genre and be vastly different. I guess I'm just a bit perplexed, being that Far Cry was my escape from the average FPS.
MP this MP that even these dudes like gamespot are insane nowadays ,where are those long amazing campaigns like Max Payne ,Half Life ,Project IGI,DOOM etc nowadays, theyre dead right ? just because of the multiplayer , MP is a curse ,instead of a good story we get some average cr/ap only because htey waste half the time on multiplayer ,if you want multiplayer go play those online FPS games, devs should focus on a good campaign story ,i personally love a great story ,whats the reason of playing the same thing over and over again ? shooting each others like idiots in MP? you want MP go play games like Firefall or Tribes Ascend or those other tons of online FPS
@mumrahh1 Think of it this way the generation of pc gamers are gone today its all about consoles more kids ask for a 360,ps3, or a wii then they do for a pc. To get to the point this generation is slowly leaving pcs behind. Game developers are taking more steps towards consoles and are leaving pcs behind. And thats one of the main reasons why you see more games with bad graphics. At least that's how I see it.
I watched the video in 720p. Far Cry could be a great game but why do the graphics look so bad. The style reminds me of Crysis 1 for pc but with a lot less detail. Bottom line is they Consolized this game just like they did to the Crysis series with the release of Crysis 2. I have no problem dropping 2 grand to play a game on PC because the graphics and quality is 100% better then what a console can do. However, if they keep making games for console and porting it to PC then there is no point in a top of the line PC. Basically they are purposely making PC gaming obsolete and for that reason I don't buy any PC game that is also released on console. The idea of a PC running console games and consoles running PC games is ridiculous. All PC gamer's should demand they stay true to the PC gamer crowd and go back to the roots where a PC game would cause a overload/meltdown if ran on a console!
Doesnt matter if the video is in HD. Maybe the gamer it self didnt set the graphics in game to Very High, it is probably on Low settings.
Cant doubt Ubisofts ability at creating a great online experience... they got me hooked with the original Ghost Recon for the 360 online... imagine 3-4ish years in advanced (Far Cry 2's multiplayer did suck though)
This seems like Ubisoft is picking up good points in each game 'to create a good shooter like this. I like the way they kept it clean on screen..... "Punish or Pardon" nice idea, It depends on the mood of the player at the end of the game.:D
Sounds really cool, and looks good! However, I REALLY hope they don't follow a path too similar to CoD... hope they lay off a bit and keep things like kill streaks and such to a minimal. I know they want to compete, but copying the same formula won't work. They need to keep it fresh and keep their own style.
That punish-pardon thingie is most likely to cause more problems then anything else. Players will probably skip it by leaving the game and joining another one -thus making for unstable player numbers and bad team balance. Also taping a button to stay alive will give you finger blisters and destroy your keyboard in no time.
Punish or Pardon seems like it will get old no matter what. Other than that, looks pretty solid, though I'm more interested in the single player.
No, neither does knowing where the most overpowered weapons are and everyone running right to them, burning through the ammo and camping till it respawns. I was referring to a game like BF where skill is more important than knowing the map. No shooter is perfect but the old school "run to the best weapons on the map" formula is antiquated and I'm reminded why it is whenever I play a game that follows this formula. If you like that sort of thing that's fine but I doubt you'll see any developers return to it.
@devastion913 Picking out an MGL at the start of the game and nuking everything in sight takes skill?
Rewards and killstreaks...... I hate you CoD. You have ruined much of the competitive shooters on the market by the idea of killstreaks which promote camping and selfish gameplay over the idea of playing as a team. CoD, I hope you burn in hell you this.
@Aryck1095 Oh yes, picking up weapons off of the map. I remember that. Winning or losing depended more on knowing the map instead of individual player skill. I don't miss those days.
The fact that they've remove vehicles from multiplayer puts a HUGE damper on it for me. And that ridiculous HUD... my eyes are bleeding! :(
Ultimately, what will set Far Cry 3 multiplayer apart from Call of Duty and Battlefield is personality; the reason I don't play either of the aforementioned games. The whole "modern military/World War III" theme is BORING. We'll see if this game can satisfy in that regard. As far as improving upon Far Cry 2... they should add some character customization to multiplayer; being able to customize your character's appearence, gender, and so on would be a nice addition. Just saying, multiplayer characters were boring in Far Cry 2. Also, I never really like the class-based level-up system in Far Cry 2, and it was such a pain in the arse when you got matched with someone packing an MGL; that led to some very one-sided matches for me. Better that they just let players pick up weapons off the map like in Far Cry:Instincts to keep things fair.
wow this looks very nice and lol at the what to do with the higest scorer on the losing team nice touch
Farcry has always had decent multiplayer. I hope theyls still be a map creator so we can still play them crazy maps.
Far cry will have a good story its the multiplayer aspect they are worrying about because part 2 multi wasn't really that good, even if they make slight improvement overall FAR CRY2 should be a big Q3 success!!! From what I see here they are going into the right direction
