GameSpot GamePlay Episode 7: Bald and Powdery
IGN's Ryan Clements airs his dirty laundry to Kevin VanOrd, John Davison, Brendan Sinclair, and Tom Mc Shea.
GameSpot GamePlay Episode 7: Bald and Powdery
It's the ultimate Internet showdown: IGN versus GameSpot! Well, not really. Still, IGN's Ryan Clements graces the studio with his presence and faces controversy without breaking a sweat. Meanwhile, Brendan Sinclair goes into rage mode, John Davison defends Blizzard, Tom Mc Shea collects some jiggies, and somehow, host Kevin VanOrd keeps the peace through it all.

Kevin VanOrd is a lifelong RPG lover and violin player. When he isn't busy building PCs and composing symphonies, he watches American Dad reruns with his fat cat, Ollie.
What did happen with Kane & Lynch? Business decisions? Politics? You speak about something but there are a lot of people that have no idea what is happening...
sigh....I knew all the zelda music almost instantaneously. I don't know whether to be proud or not.
Watching jeffs old reviewes, very honest and he just tells you as it is.
God Hand is just pure gameplay and fun, got it from PSN just to play it again.
Mirrors Edge was frustrating at times but good game and deserves a sequel.
I knew the Ocarina of time one and Majora's Mask and i am not even a zelda fan, majora's mask is known for its creepy atmosphere and Oot i played so of course i knew about that. :P
That invite you got to come back to WoW is probably a very sophisticated phishing attempt Kevin. If it's the same email I got (a Scroll of Resurrection with spot on wording and images), it will send you to a replica of the Battlenet site with some discrepancies in the URL. Just a heads up if you ever think to click on it.
This was a great podcast! The energy was incredible. Bringing IGN guys in needs to happen from time-to-time. I really enjoy their podcasts as well.
Great job, guys. I'm very impressed, and I hope this podcast makes me miss the "HotSpot" less and less :).
Wow, this was really enjoyable. Highlights for me:
1) The Kratos impression (of course)
2) The infamous review scores bit, especially about Kane & Lynch and God Hand.
3) Talking about some of silly things about both sites, like the "Presentation" category at IGN, and the Gamespot "emblems" on reviews.
If all the podcasts are this good, I'm actually going to start making a point of listening to them ever week...
MGS4 refined it's mechanics to pure perfection. Best in series. perfect 10.
@FreedomPrime hands down PURE PERFECTION
let the kids hate it who cares and listening to them anw
Great podcast. Also, Kevin, there's nothing wrong with long podcasts, in fact the longer the better :P
This show is rapidly becoming good enough to rival some of the best moments on The Hotspot. Loved to see Sinclair on here, and I really like the whole guest-spot-every-week thing.
I was listening to this at work today and had to stifle my laughter several times. Then Kratos Sinclair emerged and I just about lost it. I would pay money to see video of that bit.
it's nice to have a IGN employee on the podcast, I actually like this guy and I enjoy his reviews. unlike the the one who just reviewed darksiders 2, IGN needs to let that woman go....
Missed a few points: What do you think 1.04 is gonna bring the player?
Are players happy whit the RMAH or only the bots?
Talking about bots what are they and how does this work?
Should players still be playing Diablo 3 at this point? (whit the big changes comming up, finding a legendery now is pointless)
etc etc.
Good news everyone! Tom Magrino on the Gamesradar podcast! http://www.gamesradar.com/radioradar-podcast-episode-001/
I've always thought that IGN and Gamespot were like enemies, having Ryan Clements in this podcast was really cool. This podcast gets better and better, and having a guest, wherever he comes from, makes it even better.
Now I know where the title of this podcast came from! Brendan's Kratos was incredible!
I like the audio portions, even if the "contestants" don't. Just FYI.
I got tired of the Kane and Lynch comments very fast.
People still comment about that as if they decided to remain on a website they no longer trusted for 4 years hoping that one day all the employees affected by that will return...wait...
Well, you know what I mean.
I searched in Google for the Snowball thing... And well... That is something that I really didn't expect to learn from a games website.
MGS 4 Isn't that good i agree with the IGN guy there. MGS 3 Is the best for definite.
@deadpeasant for you dont care....
mgs4 is the top 3 best game this gen...its the perfect game
10 editors choice enough said...rage elsewhere kthxbb
@deadpeasant I personally prefer MGS4 ;) But I have just bought the MGS HD Collection for my PS3 so hey, maybe I will change my mind
@deadpeasant Yes yes! It's just a shame that it takes about 3 hours before you actually get to "play" the game. Lol That turns a lot of people off to it.
@jessie82 Near the end of the HotSpot's run Tom Magrino made it a video podcast and that's part of what killed it.
@Bobzfamily Agreed. I enjoy listening to podcasts while doing other things. Once HotSpot went video, it felt like I had to pay attention to the video in areas. A video every now and then would be interesting, but I prefer audio podcasts over video podcasts.
A lot of people speaks negatively about drugs, but that doesn't stop addicts from buying. Blizzard is frighteningly similar to a drug dealer. All companies eventually grow big enough to start screwing with their clients/consumers. There are exceptions (Bethesda / Id? Rockstar? Valve?), but they can easily burn their cred in a second with bullshit like 0-day DLC and always-on DRM.
Oh man that Kratos impression xD
Very nice podcast, one of the best, although they're all good :P
