Treasures
This section reveals some of God of War's hidden treasures. You'll find instructions on finding the two Muse Keys during the game and where to use them to receive your reward. Plus, there are Kratos' new costumes and those mysterious secret messages.
The Muse Keys
Although it's not involved with any of the unlockable treasures, the two Muse Keys found in the game offer the opportunity to locate a valuable reward during the game. There are just two Muse Keys and they're used to unlock a door found within the Rings of Pandora.
The first Muse Key is located behind the statue of Atlas. During the Challenge of Atlas level, you'll discover a giant statue of Atlas. Use the nearby crank handle to raise the large stone ball over Atlas' head. Walk behind the statue to find a chest containing the first Muse Key.
The second Muse Key is near the beginning of the Challenge of Poseidon level. When Kratos traverses the exterior of Pandora's Temple and must shimmy along a narrow ledge, go to the right side to find an alcove with a hidden chest. The chest contains the second Muse Key.
After completing the Challenge of Poseidon, return both Muse Keys to the Rings of Pandora. Use the outer ring crank to rotate the ring until you can explore the hall that contains the locked muse door. Use both Muse Keys to open the door; this reveals a secret treasure room. Inside you'll find upgrades to your maximum health and magic as well as a ton of red experience orbs.
Costumes
Complete the ten Challenge of the Gods rooms to unlock alternate costumes for Kratos. The costumes aren't just a fashion statement. Each outfit offers a slightly different gameplay experience…or even a drastically different gameplay experience in regards to the cow costume!
Select a new game at the main menu. After choosing the difficulty level, you have the option to switch costumes. Note that you can't use the costumes on "God" difficulty.
Chef of War
The bloodied Chef of War's preferred skill is magic. The Chef of War costume replenishes more magic per magic orb.
Bubbles
Bubbles, the swimmer's costume, prefers the skill of health. Bubbles recovers additional health per health orb.
Tycoonius
Kratos dresses like a Wall Street mogul in the Tycoonius costume. His preferred skill is experience, which means he receives more experience per red orb absorbed.
Dairy Bastard
Kratos' most ridiculous costume is the new cow attire, complete with udder. It's the Dairy Bastard! The preferred skill is listed as magic, and for good reason, because the Dairy Bastard possesses an infinite magic bar! See how high you can raise the combo meter during Poseidon's Rage!
Ares Armor
Wear the God of War's outfit with the Ares Armor costume.
Secret Messages
There are two items in the God of War treasures labeled "secret messages". Unlock secret message #1 by completing the game on the "God" difficulty level. After completing the game, the message appears on screen. It's a phone number: 1-800-613-8840.
Call the number and Kratos' congratulates you for completing the God difficulty mode and offers you a "private" tour of one of Mount Olympus' darker corners.
Secret message #2 can be unlocked on any difficulty level but it must happen during the game. After defeating Ares for the second time, Kratos can go to Mount Olympus. There are two statues inside: one of the minotaur and another of Ares. Break apart both statues! Both statues are quite durable. It may seem like you're hitting those statues for an eternity but they will eventually break! A scrambled message appears on screen. It turns out it's also a phone number: 1-888-447-5594.
Call the number in secret message #2 to hear a congratulatory message from Kratos and David Jaffe, God of War's lead designer. They seem quite impressed that you discovered the hidden Easter egg…but aren't as impressed if you discovered the Easter egg from this game guide.
