Mombasa Streets
Mombasa Streets is the overworld that connects you to the individual missions. As you explore the streets, you'll come across "clues" left behind by fellow ODSTs, such as discarded weapons or gear. Whenever you locate one, a 'flashback' mission will start, where you'll actually take control of that soldier, experiencing what he did. Because New Mombasa is relatively non-linear, it's difficult to provide a step-by-step walkthrough. Plus the game even points you toward at least one clue at any time, via the marked beacon on your map and compass. Now as you explore the streets, you'll also encounter roaming groups of enemies, which are also visible on your map. Quite often, you can slip by these guys without incident, either by taking a route that bypasses them completely, or simply running through the area before they see you.
When you get close to a clue, you'll hear a beeping noise, indicating it's nearby. Below you'll find more specific information on where exactly each clue is, once you've reached its general location:
Uplift Reserve
As you enter the area, a sniper watches over the street, but don't worry about him, as you're just about done here. Follow the curving street to the right to find the Drone Fighter Optics, which you can inspect to begin the mission.
Kizingo Boulveard
When you hear the beeping, look for a door you can enter nearby. Climb to the top floor to find the Gauss Turret, which can be found to begin the next mission.
Oni Alpha Site
Scan the Remote Detonator on the left side of the waterfront.
Kikiwani Station
Look for the Bio-Foam Canister on the ground, beneath the Kikiwani Station awning, that can be scanned.
Underground Entrance
You should already be close to the underground entrance. The only snag is a horde of snipers and Brutes guarding the entrance, including one armed with a Fuel Rod Cannon. Ideally, high-powered long-range weapons, such as the sniper rifle and Carbine are the most effective. We recommend approaching from the left alley, but hang back for cover--try and take down the snipers and Fuel Rod Cannon launcher first, unless some other Brutes pose an immediate threat. Once they're dealt with, grenades can be an effective way to clean out the rest, who should be bunched up around the corner. If you run completely out of ammo, try grabbing either the Fuel Rod Cannon, or one of the dropped sniper rifles.
When clear, approach the lit door to the underground to start the next mission.
