Portal 2 Walkthrough

Mass And Velocity

Floor 1

Blue will want to set their purple portal on the small white floor and their blue portal at the top alcove on the left. Orange will need to place their red portal on the white wall sticking out overhead. Both players should enter the top alcove through Blue's portals. Orange should now fire their Red portal below, overwriting the purple portal. Both players will now need to leap into Orange's portals to reach the grill to the next area.

In the next area Orange will need to shoot their orange portal under the lift on the left, and set their red portal on the very high wall on the left. Blue will want to set one of their portals next to the top of the lift and the other portal on any nearby wall. Blue will next need to travel through their own portal set and then leap down through Orange's portals. Once landing on the other side Blue should stand on the switch. Orange will now need to move their red portal onto the high wall on the right. After doing so Orange should travel through Blue's portals, their own portals, and finally stand on the second switch. A sphere will drop, allowing both characters to advance to the exit.

Floor 2

Blue should set their portals in the small alcove with a grill in the center. Orange will now need to jump into the portals, as the portals would be destroyed if Blue entered. In turn Blue should move over to the switch and press it to move the barrier. Once this is done Blue should fire their top portal at the incline, which will launch Orange forward. From the other end Orange should repeat the solution for Blue: place their orange and red portals between the grill and fire at the incline to send Blue over. Once both players have been thrown around to the other side the exit will open.

Floor 3

Blue should once again place their portals on both sides of the horizontal grill. Orange will want to jump into these portals and wait for now. Blue will need to circle around the vertical grill and drop to the lower area. Blue must stand on the large weighted button and fire their top portal at the small white wall to the right. Orange will just shoot to the other side be near a sphere dispenser controls. Orange should let out a sphere and bring it to the stable ground where Blue is. Once Orange is back to safety, Blue should pass through the grill and up to the higher level. Orange should pass the sphere to Blue so that it doesn't have to be destroyed by the emancipation grid. Take the sphere to the exit and place it in the node to unlock the door.

Floor 4

Blue will need to first set their portals on both sides of the horizontal grill. As with Before, Orange should jump through these gateways to gain a burst of speed. Blue should then move back over to the starting area where two high switches are placed. They should place one of their portals below both switches, causing Orange to juggle between both floors. During this time Orange will need to hit both switches in short succession to release a sphere. Take this sphere to the door on the right to complete the level.

Floor 5

For this floor Blue will want to set their blue portal above the jump pad and the purple portal on the inclined ledge. Orange will want to step passed the grill and place both of their portals on both sides of the thin white wall overhead. Blue should next step on the jump pad and fly to the second level behind the grill. From here Blue should place their portal on the incline to the right. To reach the exit Orange will need to step on the jump pad and Blue can jut jump in their purple portal.

In this next area Blue will want to set their blue portal above the jump pad and their purple portal on the ground below the weighted cube. Blue will next need to use the jump pad to travel through and grab the cube. Drop the cube in the main area and switch the purple portal over to the incline facing the large grill. Orange should now use the jump pad and fly through Blue's portals.

From here Blue will need to grab the weighted cube and hand it to Orange. Orange should now leave the cube on the weighted button to reveal another grill. Blue should set their purple portal on the wall facing this new grill opening. Next, Orange should return to the jump pad and be launched into this new small room.

Orange should set both of their portals on both walls here and move out of the way. With all for portals set, Blue should use the jump pad to reach the exit. Place another blue portal next to the exit and the purple portal below to allow both players to move on.

Floor 6

Orange should first move through the emancipation grill and place their portals on both of the inclines to the right. Blue will want to set portals to reach the jump pad on the right. From this vantage point Blue will want to set their portals on the two inclines ahead and then use the jump pad. Blue will fly through all four portals and will land near the weighted cube controls. Hit the switch, catch the flying cube, and pass it down to Orange. Now both players will now need to switch their portals--Blue should shoot the two inclines from the balcony they are on; Orange will need to pass through the grill and put their portals on the other two inclines. Orange should use the jump pad to rejoin Blue and advance to the next room.

Blue will want to set their portals on the lone two white walls panels and use the jump pads. Due to the pad configuration, you may need to jump on them a second time to enter the portals. While Blue is flying around, Orange should press the switch and release a weighted cube. The expulsion of the cube needs to be timed so that it drops right in front of Blue as they pass through the portals. Once Blue has the cube, get off the pads and store the cube in the node to reveal the exit.

Floor 7

Both Orange and Blue should set their portals to slam into the switches on the wall. Both players will need to step on the jump pads at the same time to smack both buttons at once, opening the door to the next area.

Orange will next need to set one portal on the checkered wall on the left, and their other portal on the wall behind them (Which faces a laser sensor node). Orange should now grab the reflection cube and align the laser into the node, activating the lift. Once the lift is high enough Blue should leap through their portals and arrive on the other side of the crushers.

Both players should meet in the next room and bring the cube along. Blue should more near the locked door and Orange should use the jump pad to open the door to the other side. There will only be enough time for Blue to get through, as the door will shut tight again. Orange will need to set one portal above the exit door and the other near the jump pad. Drop the cube on the jump pad and head into the portals. When the cube hits the button, dash into the door. Move ahead to reach the exit.

Blue will want to set one portal on the checkered wall above the laser, stand on the lift, and place the second portal on the ground directly in front.

Floor 8

You'll need to use team work to grab the reflector cube from the tube in this area. Blue will want to place their portal on the lower incline and Orange will want to place their portal on the higher incline. Both players will want to put portals over the edge below. Blue should jump in their portals first to slam into the button. If a reflector cube is passing through the machine it will pop out in the next few seconds. Orange will need to enter their portals and snatch the cube as it flies through the air.

Orange should then set up portals to bring the cube to the starting area. With the reflector in hand, point the laser into the node ahead to stop the large fan. Blue should set their portals on the right side incline and another over the ledge from before. Drop down into the portal and wind up passed the fan.

Once inside Blue will want to stick one portal across from the laser sensor node (Between the computer and the white board). Move into the next room on the right and place the other portal next to the row of filing cabinets. Orange will next want to set one portal over the straight pillar with the "01" stamped on it, and their other portal on the small wall in front of the fan and laser beam.

Once all four portals are set correctly, Orange will need to point the laser to the node near Blue to turn off the fan. Now Orange must catapult passed the fan and meet up with Blue. Head over to the locked door on the left and both players will need to pull the leavers at the same time. Once the gate is open, head up the stairs and insert the disc into the drive to complete the area.

Portal 2 is a great game. The levels were hard enough that I couldn't figure them out straight away, but could still noticed the solution after 5-10 minutes. Games like Modern Warfare 3 couldn't hold a candle.

Such a great game, the level design shows Valve's creativity. I wish companies like Infinity Ward would take a few hints while making mw3 and its levels. Modern Warfare 3 could use Valve's "touch", just look how great this and Team Fortress 2 is.

I only checked this to see how many chapters were in the game :P

Brilliant game. Wish I had bought the first one before I played this one, but it's so good it doesn't matter. Excellent voice acting and brilliant puzzles - keep it up Valve!

@ icepop4who: If it's so easy and you don't need a guide, what are you doing here? Hmmmm.... Kind of strikes me as an 'I'm better than you guys statement to me'. The truth seems to be, I got stuck somewhere and needed a little nudge in the right direction.

I think this is a great game. but sometime u have to spend an hour on a single floor in the later levels because it gets a bit hard.but still a very good game

I just dont understand the point of listing the trophies if you are not showing how to get them step by step? I mean its a guide right?

lol this is the easiest puzzle game ever. As long as you're not ADD or something, you don't need a guide. Just take your time with it.

Who writes this stuff? It's "levers", not "leavers"! Portal is the bomb, tho' (GLaDOS made me say that)

Pretty good guide, but for god's sake please learn the difference in "passed" and "past."

I love this phreaking game. Right when I thought it was going to end, it keeps on going! I thought it was more of Portal 1, then it goes nuts! The levels are organic, believable and atmospheric. Look out for my review. Incredible game.

What kind of idiot would actually use a Portal walkthrough? Solving puzzles is literally the only thing to do in this game. It's like paying money to have to read and follow a guide.

Without photos can be as frustrating to understand as some parts of the game. Try the youtube hints if you are really stuck.

If you liked the first Portal, you will love this one.. it has a good story and about 7hours of pure puzzel thinking. Some stages where way to easy and some took me a while to figure out. I also loved the twists of the game. To all of you that have played the game i only say "Im in space!" It was great fun.. Thinking of buying the game for ps3 aswell..

@Maxxramman ... *gag* there are three words I bet no one on this planet EVER expected to hear in a sentence: "amazing" and "will ferrell." WOW! I'm intrigued by how stupid parts of this game make me feel at times. To help with that I went and bought the first one. STILL have no idea how or why i'm blasting holes in walls just to be tested by this badly auto-tuned android! HOPEFULLY there will be sometime soon in the game where the greater meaning is revealed (I'd settle for the point ; ) Its also a little strange that the character you are supposedly playing as is a female. Hmmm maybe this is how a female feels if she chooses to play a FPS, i.e. CoD. Interesting.

@Kos1c & @XsickGamerX10 - It's more than just a puzzle game. It has a great story behind it and it ties itself with the Half Life Universe. I think it's a great game. It's better to have played the first one before playing the second.

@XsickGamerX10 I didn't know much about this game, and i got it yesterday. The game is a huge puzzle game, it's great fun, just sadly it's not as long. I've already completed it, took about 4-6 hours to do. But still one of those titles worth checking out. An easy 9/10 for me.

@djball They are hardly holding your hand. It has happened to me that I had no clue where to go due to an obscure portal-friendly surface.

@bigkahunabuger portal 2 does not have a singleplayer section...only a game mode you can play by yourself...that shows gamestpot doesn't have a clue about games.

The achievement for the propulsion gel is "Stranger than Friction", not stranger than fiction, like the amazing movie with will Ferrell.

psychowithabow

I would really discourage the use of a walkthrough for Portal 2. Its charm comes (at least partly) from the satisfaction of solving the puzzles, and being told what to do diminishes your experience of the game. I guess using one section if you're really, REALLY, stuck would be okay, but please go back and be sure that you need the help before seeking help.

I have Portal 2 and in my opionion it is to easy, I completed it in 7 Hours. The puzzles are good enought but there is only 1 way to solve a puzzle and it is easy to find the solution. The Story is realy great it has some realy good twists in it.
