I love back to the future... at least the first one. great music, great characters, just great. Great to see how well it translated to video games.
It's not Michael J. Fox. but it sure sounds like him! Meet the voice of Marty in Telltale's Back to the Future game.
We've talked to composers, sound designers, and musicians, so who's next? Voice actors! Every aspect of video game audio is important to the gameplay experience. The music needs to fit, the sounds needs to be clear, and the voice acting needs to be convincing. When Telltalle Game first announced that it was going to do Back to the Future: The Game and that it had Christopher Lloyd on board to reprise his role as Doc, we all wondered whether or not Michael J. Fox would take on the role of Marty McFly from more than 25 years ago. We learned early on that he wouldn't, but to take his place, there would be AJ Locascio, who does such a convincing impression of Marty McFly that you'll feel like you're back in 1985 again. Haven't had a chance to play the game yet? Well, you should! The final episode is out this week. Sound Byte has 10 copies of the game for the PC and Mac to give away (redeemable worldwide!), so follow us on Twitter @gs_soundbyte and leave a comment for a chance to win! Just got the games from the Twitter promo. The guys at Telltale Games were kind enough even to include the last brand new chapter: V! Thank you so much @Sophia!
@Jekyl87 - that's in the works. @darkzero84 - you can get in touch with him via the facebook page that's linked in the article.
@ Sophia - Even audio interviews like Brendan does sometimes for The Hotspot would be great for voice actors.
All the voices he did were pretty much spot on, he is definitely very talented. He seems like a really cool guy too.
your really good AJ dont think you will see this but if u do your really good and agree most youtube videos of voices suck. hope u get season 2 and good luck in anything in the future or back to the future lol good luck
@Jekyl87 - yes he's the first. I prefer to do on-camera interviews with voice actors, so a lot of it depends on timing and their schedule. It just so happened he was in the area doing his last lines to the game and was able to come by. Would love to interview more, going to try to meet up with some at Comic-con if possible.
@Sophia- Went through all the previous ones but couldn't find any voice actors. Hope to see more soon. Keep up the great work.
@Jekyl87 - voice acting falls under the realm of audio! Been talking to sound designers, audio directors and composers mostly but if I can, I do like speaking to voice actors too.
Great interview. I thought Sophia did only composers and music producers. Personally, I'm much more interested in the voice actors.
Here's hoping we get to see (or hear, rather) him in more stuff soon. He's got some serious talent there.
He's really good I hope he get's more offers down the road to do more. I was skeptical of the Back To the Future game because I'm a huge fan of the films but it's a good game, I'm really impressed with the game and all the voices.
its been an awesome game, I can't wait to finish the final chapter in a few days when its released. I heard Michael J Fox is actually doing a part in the final chapter.
He's going places for sure. Great personality. Captain Jack was very impressive. AJ, you complained about drive by voices but you kinda did one yourself :P Oh well, keep up the good work, hopefully we'll get a season 2!
AJ did an amazing job. I really hope he gets a lot of work going forward because he has some real talent.
Wow, his Jack Sparrow was amazing. He's got a bright future ahead of him. I just hope developers choose a heartfelt performance from him over a half assed performance from the person he's emulating (this is not a jab at Michael J Fox, that's obviously a different situation).
