I still don't understand why Rikku isn't in this tournament?
Because enough people didn't vote her in.
Yet enough people voted for ****ing Porom. >.>
Well, wasn't it a nomination every hour, and you could vote the same character every hour, and they needed.. what 5?
So 1 person could have gotten Rikku or anyone else in.

His name was Marauder Shields. - Apr 26, 2012 11:05 am GMTIt sucks... Gogo, Strago, Relm and Shadow have made it to the first round just to lose to others.

Yeah, from the nomination thread.
Rules:
1.) You can nominate four Final Fantasy characters every hour. However, you can only nominate the same item every other hour.
2.) Once an item has received five votes, it will be eligible for the tournament and no more nomination votes will be counted.
3.) Nominations will continue until 32 applicants have made it into the competition.
So people could vote on the same character every other hour, Rikku just need 5 nominations.

Enjoying Being A Female Gamer.
Anticipating: KH3D, Type-0 (EV) and Tomb Raider. - Apr 26, 2012 11:20 am GMTRamza is the clear winner here and it's not even close. Ramza is one the best examples of a tragic, true hero in any RPG period while Auron is just a pretty cool, yet disappointingly static character. The way Ramza fights through being branded a heretic and losing practically everyone close to him due to reasons out of his control just for what he believes is right is second to none. Plus his interactions with Delita and how they cross paths was incredibly well done and did much to add to both of their characters. All of Auron's development is done off screen and while we do have a well done character at the end of it, not being able to truly see him grow makes him lack something Ramza gains. He's like the cool guy you see from afar that you never really know while Ramza is the friend from your hometown that you see practice his ass off from tragic beginnings to become something great.
So yeah, Ramza Beoulve all the way.
Current Standings...
Auron (FFX) [24]
Ramza (FFT) [15]
Also to the person who said Auron pulled all the strings in FFX.....lol. While he was the one who brought Tidus to Spira, he did not have intentions of fighting Yunalesca until the rest of the party decided to do so, lets not over exaggerate his character here. - Apr 26, 2012 11:28 am GMTMaurith posted...
+1 auron
I do like Ramza. But it's more the tragic irony about his story I admire than anything. I also think he's....dare I use the forbidden word....over-rated :O
Admirable, but as a character pretty plain. Can't update standings, on my phone
Being a sensable hero with great qualities an without being displayed as over the top character and doesn't getting bombarded with hype is overrated???
>_>
<_<
........wut?

This kinda sounds a bit like Auron, too

It certainly does, and I would've liked Auron a lot more if they showed a bit more of him. It's one of the strengths I feel Tactics and X share in common. The former just happened to come a few years before X

I haven't played Tactics yet, but it certainly seems to be held in high regard. Ramza's the main character, right? I guess it makes more sense that he is better developed than Auron, kinda like Cloud versus Snow in the last round.
We learn about Auron through his spheres, and that badass speech he gave before the Yunalesca fight still gives me goosebumps after all these years

Yup, he is the main character. If you have a PS3 and don't mind a pretty sharp learning curve the game is on psn for like $10, it's certainly worth it.
Also, hell yeah that scene before fighting Yunalesca is one of the coolest build-ups to a boss battle ever imo.

I thought that scene was incredibly cheesy.

Ohnoes. I'm 25 and my 87th JRPG doesn't feel as epic as the first one I played when I was 12. Must be Toriyama's fault. - Apr 26, 2012 11:50 am GMTInertSolo posted...

I plan on buying it at some point, I just seem to have turned into an xbox junkie recently :O I suppose I could buy it and put in on my PSP to play while I'm travelling. I've just got soooooo many other games still to play... I really must get round to Tactics one day!

Auron.
Tactics is definitely worthwhile. Just be sure to maintain multiple saves.

Ramza is pretty plain, average Joe. That's why I like him, he's not over the top like most popular characters(*cough Auron: look at me people like me because I'm badass awwww yeah, check out these one-liners I'm throwing out, and I got one working arm, plus check how I weild this sword, and to top it off I'm always wearing sunglasses, even at night in building, and nostalgia for being the first game with voice acting cough*), just a genuinely good guy trying to do the right thing.
I dont think he's overrated, I think hes underrated for being too normal.
I'm a huge fan of X, but Auron is one of my least favorite characters and I think HE is the overrated one. To each their own. - Apr 26, 2012 12:00 pm GMTAuron
