Some help with infusion and 2 builds

OK, I have made it to the Archylte Steppe and have NEVER done monster infusion and I want to make sure I don't screw things up. I have read the guide but can't seem to get how this all works.
I have Lightning (commando) from the Requiem of the Goddess DLC and the monster guide here at GameFAQs suggests that I give her Powerchain.
Which monster should I feed her so that all she gets is that skill and nothing else?
I want to make the build from that FAQ but don't know where to begin. Should I first get her to her max level?
What monsters should I infuse onto her? Is there a particular order I should follow?
On my other hand I have Sazh, I figured out a trick to get all those Fortune Medals in less than 20 minutes and I find that his build really confusing.
First off, which materials should I give him? As a synergist I would want him to have good HP so he is not a hindrance in battle and plenty of Magic so that his buffs last a few seconds longer. Should I mix and mash Magic and Potent materials for his growth?
What about his Crystarium expansion bonuses? I would like to give him both his role levels but how will that affect him overall in battle?
I read that I should level him to level 41, why?
I would want him to have all of his lock abilities and all the buffs the game has to offer as well as the abilities that give a small boost, like boon. Can this be done?
Is there a limit to the active abilities a monster can have?
Again, I want to make the build that is posted in the monsters FAQ but have no idea on how to begin or what monsters I should give him. Any ideas?

Search for my v light build, it should be titled version 7. Follow the instructions until the pack mentality step. If you add a ganacah, and a ganacah ace lv4 together, you can add that as a final step. Pack mentality is not as good as once thought. Another way to do it, would be adding ally ko power surge, but that is an advanced technique.
Sazh is currently under discussion.
He has feral speed, augment maint ii, and item finder red-locked at lv41. If you level him fully, critical haste is red locked, which builders want to avoid learning. Currently, we are thinking to nix auto-bravery in favor of more defensive passives. For him, start with auto - tetra, auto-haste, auto-faith, and magic+
Then, chose 3 more abilities from: hp+, resist phy, resist magic, auto- bravery, or defense maintenance depending on how you'd use him. This build would be rather straight forward. The best way would be to collect the monsters that impart those abilities, save, then infuse them in different orders. If you mess up, reset and try another order. I have a couple of different sazh builds, but i'm away from my computer atm.
