    From a rookie to Xbox live...

    Is it annoying if I play online without a headset?  I've never really tried - is talking to other players a must?  I don't have a head-set but want to try online gameplay.  Will I annoy other players without being able to talk?

    No, but the other players voices will come through your speakers.

    No. It's not a necessity, but it is really worth it. Really enriches the experience. Like said above, beware that the voices will come through your tv speakers.

    Which can be annoying. My moms walked in when my mic was disconnected and heard some f's and sh..'s...

    I am a noob to XBL and I've heard other peoples voices coming through my TV speakers but when I talk into my mic I don't think it's working. As I get more time on there and get some people that will actually play games with a noob, I'll find out if it's actually working. But the only thing you have to do is plug it in and go, right?

    Is it pretty cool to chat while you play or does it reach new levels of loser? I don't mean that in a rude way, I just want to know if it's as cool as it seems like it could be or if it's just a bunch of knobs.

    meh, whether its cool or not doesnt matter. its cool to be able to co ordinate in team games and slaughter the opposing side..

    its good, but not a must, i would highly recommend it, also most pplz are chill and are just trying to have a good time, low amount of jerks, but if u go into ranked matches, you have to be serious and not tell jokes or suck at the game

    I haven't been using my headset when I'm playing NHL2K7 because people annoy the crap out of me sometimes. You get a lot immature idiots who just want to make stupid sounds or scream or talk crap or have loud irritating music playing. Not all are like that, but there have been a few.
