With Comic-Con just around the corner, we?ve decided to give you all the opportunity to participate in a costume designing and guessing game contest. Since usually games are taboo in Off-Topics forums we?ve decided to use our ?hopeful Comic-Con attendees? list complied of actors from shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, or The Walking Dead. The Comic-Con Costume contest will come in two phases:

    - Costume Design Phase [June 20th - July 8th] CURRENT PHASE
    - Guessing Game [July 9th - 15th]

Phase 1 is about adding costumes to Comic-Con celebrities from shows that will be showcased during the convention. Users will digitally alter up a celebrity by hiding pieces of what they look like, although the eyes and mouth cannot be covered. All entries will be submitted via email by July 8th for staff approval. Approved entries will be displayed during phase 2.

Phase 2 starts on July 9th (the week of Comic-Con) and ends July 15th. GameSpotters will have the chance to guess which Comic-Con celeb is hidden underneath the costume, which is similar to the Halloween activity from a few years back. More details on voting will be shared in the Activities and Attractions forum on July 9th.

There will be also be an emblem contest ran alongside this one, where users will have a chance to submit their emblem suggestions that will be handed out after the conclusion of this activity.

Here's how to take part in the first phase of this activity:
    - The costume can be anything that you might see as a cos-play at Comic-Con, for examples you can check our image gallery from last year.

    - Use your knowledge in photo alteration and Internet surfing skills to search for costume images, or you can simply draw your costumes (if you have the skills).

    - The celebrities you dress up in the costume need to be part of at least one of the shows listed below. the ?stars? list on the cast page are the celebrities you can alter as long as their photo pages have a front profile image.

    - Only one celebrity per image, if the celebrity image has someone else in the entry, it will not be approved. Furthermore, simply cropping the additional person out of the image will also not be approved.

    - Each GameSpotter can submit up to 5 celebrities each and should submit them all in a single email.

    - You may design your own costume by hand or simply find a costume on-line.

    - You cannot conceal the celebrity?s eyes or mouth in your entry. For example, you cannot conceal the area around the eyes and lips with a batman mask as long as the eyes and mouth can be seen.

    - You do not need to conceal the face entirely. For instance, you can just put a wig on the celebrity, but make sure you do something else to the face.

Here?s what to do in Phase 2:
    - Those who submit celebrity images may also participate in phase 2 as we will have enough entries from others for them to participate in the guessing game.
    - Staff might update this thread at any time.

    - Staff may also make contributions with images during phase 1 to assist with more options for the guessing game during phase 2.

    =================

With all this knowledge you are now ready to send us your submissions, here?s how to submit your entry for the possibility of receiving the achievement as a costume designer.

    TIPS TRICKS AND SUGGESTIONS

    1) Pick one! (for this example we?ll say Dexter?s sister Debra played by Jennifer Carpenter)
    2) Load the Dexter cast page. Select Jennifer Carpenter's profile page. Scroll to "More Photos" link.
    3) After going through the images, pick the one you like best for editing. (like this one here)
    4) Save the image to your computer
    5) Next, consider what you want to dress her up as. Do a search for the costume in question until you find an image that you fancy.
    6) Load up the graphics program and work with the two images, this may mean having to edit things out but since your primary goal is the face don't worry about that too much.

    I have sent mine.

All the ladies below (mostly drawn by a certain awesome but, for better or worse, not-so-well known fan artist) are actual game characters, though not (necessarily) THAT kind of games if you are thinking about those.

Maybe you want to read this: POSSIBLE BAIT & SWITCH IN TRIBES: ASCEND.

Hey Synthia, may you please check if you have obtained my submission? I appear to be having notifications that the email never got through.

I am getting notifications like "4.1.0 - Unknown address error 452" and "4.4.5 Insufficient disk space; try again later" and such.

Damn, I've noticed that I also got a "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" message after 12 hours of sending the message, that's why my design haven't been picked, I send it again even though it's already too late for my design to get through, but hopefully I'll get the emblem.
