    Hi,

About a year ago when Ico and Shadow of the Colossus came out i picked up a copy of this game. About a year later i finally got around to playing it and beating it. ICO was OK, and i thought for a game in 2003 it was good and something fresh. I think by today's standards it didn't really live up to what one would expect. But onto what i originally intended this thread to be about. Did anyone else have any problems with the controls/camera angles in this game? It was a sweet game, and certainly one of the better PS2 games, however i seen this game rated very highly, and I think the controllers/camera angle/ screen tearing bring it down a notch in my book. Horse riding, navigating around the colossus, and ledge jumping. I also found it really annoying that i could not up jump, and jump up from a ledge. That's my only complaint on a near flawless game. Anyone else had these same concerns.

Every game has its problems. SotC is a good game overall. But it has been a long time since I played it, I don't remember if there is screen tearing or anything like that. It usually doesn't bother me anyway unless it is really bad.

Shadow was one of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had. Sorta one of those you don't ever forget. Keep in mind that at the time this game was an incredibly ambitious project for the PS2 to take on. The PS2's hardware at this time was not known well enough to harbor such an ambitious game, both graphically and technicalities, like steady frame rates and overall solid smooth gameplay. Maybe if this game was made in 2005 it would've come out better. But it wasn't so much the technical aspects that people judged this game on, but more on the atmosphere, overall tone, and originality won this one over for everyone. I mean, the soundtrack alone is one of the greatest ever written for a game.

The new HD release should've hopefully smoothed it all out, but it still isn't the same as playing this one originally on the PS2, which luckily I was able to do when it was first released. Still own the black label version in virtually the same perfect condition from when I got it, a great collector's item.

Games like SotC and Ico are supposed to make you feel human in a game, no high jumping or weird movement of any sort that you or me can't do. That's why it's so great and fresh, you feel humanized by some tasks and challenges on the game.

It's the type of a game that challenges your brains not your muscles(mainly finger muscles in our case here), not anyone can just come and enjoy it though since it's like you said fresh and innovative. It's really not a game for everyone IMO.

You should naturally adjust if you play something long enough due to muscle memory. Eventually the controls become no problem at all. My only complaint for Shadow PS3 version is that they didn't fix the pop in problems.
