    I have a PS3, that I just got, a 3DS and I'm getting a WiiU at launch.
I will be getting most multiplats on those systems. As you guys know there are just some games that are better on PC.
My PC is a Toshiba Satellite L755D-S5162
    Specs:
Quad Core CPU clocked at 1.5GHz with gaming boost to 2.4GHz
    AMD HD 6520G
    4 GB DDR3 (Upgrading to 6GB)
    640 GB HDD
Before you crash it, look what it can do!

Those are pretty good, and I'm honestly satisfied with that level of graphics at 25-30 FPS.
So Steam. Explain it to me. Should I do it? I have fast Internet, do I keep doing OnLive?
What's the best controller for under 15 bucks?
I'm trying to do the best I can without over clocking.
    As for games:
    BF3
    Civ5
    PlanetSide 2
    Skyrim
    Gears of War 1
    Max Panye?
    What do you guys think?
    Also here's the setup:
I have a 21 inch 720p HD computer monitor I use for PS3 and a pair of Hi-Def Stereo Speakers.
I'm only using a mouse for Civ5, I hate the idea of a mouse and keyboard for shooting games.
    Help me out.

As for Steam, while you still don't 'own' your games, you 'own' them more than on Onlive. Steam has a wider range, a better service and sales!
Don't get Skyrim on the PC unless you know how to add mods. The UI (User Interface) is terrible. Before you write of Mouse and Keyboard for shooters, play 3 or so hours with M&K combo. To start of its quite frustrating, but trust me, once you see the amazingness, you'll never play with a controller again.

    - OnLive streams games through the Internet. So basically ur playing it off their servers. This results in sometimes lag (latency on the controls) and lower graphics (since ur basically watching a compressed video through the Internet)

    - Steam installed the ORIGINAL game on your PC so you play with maximum graphics and no lag.

STEAM all the WAY if ur PC can handle the games.
ONLIVE if ur PC is too weak to handle the games.

Well, you see that I've played with M/K setup and still baffles me. I see how the mouse is more accurate but using the arrow keys to move while mouse dies camera feels unnatural. Before I owned any systems I played games on PC as a kid. Personally for me even after hours of play the M/K isn't as natural for shooters definitely. Wiimote is definitely the best FPS control option. But in term my quick response. Arrow keys and mouse isn't as fast as two joystick and a trigger. So back to my point. Can I find a Dualshock like controller for under 15 buck on Amazon or whatever?
I only have PS3 or PC as options for Skyrim. The PS3 version is buggy so PC has to be better. What kind of Skyrim mods can my PC do?

    Wrong on BOTH accounts.

If you're using Wiimote or Dualshock controller in an FPS against a player using M/K, he will own you so much you would cry....

So I'm going to do Steam. I'll see you guys on their soon. Now I know some people will hate me for this but I don't really like mouse and keyboards controls and it more the keyboard, besides I'm getting a laptop. Mouse and keyboard isn't such a great idea. I like the DualShock controller so if you could find a PC controller that's DualShock like, and works for most games. Also I'm a GameStop PowerUp Rewards member and they sell some good games in digital versions for 30-50% off console prices. I want to play Gears of War but I dont have a 360 so I'll play 1 on PC. Skyrim on PS3 is really glitchy. But one person said that the PC version is only good if you mod it.

I'm talking about me personally... I should have put that in. I sure a mk user can aim faster, but can he move as quickly and accurately with arrow key. You have to change the camera to move in diagonals unlike a joystick where it's easier to do so.

Trust me, if ur talking about FPS, there is NOTHING better than M/K.

I have used all control types, and a M/K Player would own anyone else using other methods.

If ur comfortable with joystick that's fine, but if you go online and play Multiplayer, prepare urself to get shot lots....

I really don't want to have anything to do with M/K controls. If I have to get thrashed sometimes it's ok. I'm sure I'll be able to edge them out sometimes.

Digital controls are more responsive than analog and the whole issue of having to get your reticule on target by strafing rather than actually aiming is not relevant for PC FPS where you have 1:1 control of where your reticule is at any given time and any mouse movement on your mousepad will correspond exactly and instantly to a change in position of your reticule in an FPS whereas with a controller there is a massive delay regardless of how quickly you move the sticks in any direction.
Communication using human language has the sole purpose of finding ways to program into the subroutines of people's minds the subliminal message of "How can I help you, help me?".

If ur a console gamers and want to play FPS on PC online, you have to get used to M/K, simple.

If u want to still use controller, just get an XBOX 360 controller for Windows.

This isn't a matter of "The keyboard and mouse are a bit faster", no, its not that. It's that they are so much better. You can't get an edge on someone using a K&M, they will have already killed you. You may be top **** on a 360 or Wii, but thats because you are versing others using controllers. If you jump on any FPS with a controller, especially something like TF2 or Tribes, YOU WILL BE OWNED AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE FUN!

Don't worry, he'll soon realise how much better m/k is...although I suspect he's still using his laptopt's touchpad and the arrows keys....

Anyway, till then, you can use a 360 controller, it's as simple as plug and play, but not supported by some games. Also, you can use your ps3 controller as well, you just need motionjoy, which will make the pc think you are using a 360 controller. You can even use a wii-mote and nunchuck, but that requires much more setup.

On a laptop the arrow keys are on the left and the mouse in on the right. That means I'll have to switch to use my right hand as arrow key and as mouse control.
Well, LISTEN, I've used K/M before, it's not that I don't know that Mouse/ is more accurate, I have no problem with that. I REALLY hate the keyboard setup.

    I Hate:

the arrow keys/wasd to move, spacebar to jump, e to interact, shift to sprint, r to reload, escape to pause

If controller users really get owned that badly, I will buy BF3 for PS3/ instead of PC, OK?

You guys have to admit for things other than aiming a controller is better. K/M is better at aiming and faster.

the PS3 has a more effective way to shoot, iron sight and launch grenades

I feel like this thread is being derailed. I want to know about buying games: GameStop or Steam or both. How to buy a cheap controller than works with PC or step for getting my current ones to work. I will buy Battlefield 3 for PS3 since you guys say controller users get owned badly. Other than that, Gears of War 1, Skyrim , Civilization 5 will be fine.

Should I get Max Panye 3? Is it any good?

I like Planetside 2 demos I saw at E3, but if its that bad for controller users i'll stick with Dust 514, it's very similar...

Nope. I've used a real mouse and keyboard before. When I tried some FPSes on my old PC, i got a keyboard and used and mouse.
I've hooked up a WiiMote Nunchuck before, This lead to my next question. My Wii broke and I don't want to wait until WiiU to finish Skyward Sword. Will dolphin emulator run smoothly on my PC,the specs are up there...

No wonder you hate it, don't use the arrow keys to move. I haved used a keyboard for years and I haven't used arrows since the days of Doom.

WASD takes practice. I know I use to detest it back when it was introduced. The more you use it the better you will get at it, especially if you are use to moving with analog sticks. It's not something you immediately pick up right off the bat and are an expert with it. Like most good things it takes a little while to get used to, but when you do pick it up you will wonder how you ever did without it.

No a keyboard and mouse don't always trump controllers, like driving or playing a platform game.
