Thanks gamespot for another great show! why dont people lighten up for god sake life is far too short. I mean the world is dark enough with a sense of humour. Hope this show keeps going! :) .
2 Like Bad taste, stupid video, they to much time on their hands with nothing to do by the looks of it. Not bothering with GS anymore, half the videos on the site consist of these idiots pratting about making unfunny jokes instead of it being about gaming, there are better sites out there.

@Gelugon_baat That could only be said if you consider a riot a bad thing, in which case you may want to watch who on this site you say it to. Not all perceptions of reality and what is considered good are equal, not that that keeps people from getting a strong or popular voice.
@Gelugon_baat Well I hope you're right because I would hate to see Gamespot lose On The Spot like they lost The Hotspot.

1 Like @dannyodwyer I guess you didn't have your home burnt down or a family member killed in those "aren't worth taking seriously" riots. Even now walking down certain streets there are shops still boarded up from the experience, never having recovered from being ransacked and destroyed.
It's ok though Danny if you use the event last year to promote a video. I'm sure no one will take offence.

@thatsmyspot It is just harmless fun. And thankfully those who tuned in and played with us had exactly that. Harmless fun.
@dannyodwyer It's obvious that this is meant to be just harmless fun, but even something unintentionally disrespectful can have the opposite effect. It's just a bit insensitive.
It need not be the segue into playing GTA because it's a great game worthy of being played irrespective of real world historical context.
And the further games like GTA are distanced from real world public crimes - the safer the future of such titles are from those who would point the finger of blame at them, and the safer the freedom to play them :)
@paradoxes True, and if my family had been killed by a lemon truck I probably wouldn't do a Community Service about lemons. Similarly, dong a live-stream on a gaming site with a lemons motif doesn't mean I'm disrespecting the families of those who were killed by lemon trucks. Tragedies happen every day. Life goes on. Make lemonade.
@chrisbeaumont If you are speaking for the rioters, then why did you offend people in a way that could have been avoided? Violence was not necessary. Take any given discussion on this site as an example. Though there are a lot of explosive opinions, not all of them resort to insults and certainly don't involve rioting. The riots were not necessary regardless of whether you agree with the premise. As that goes, there was no premise but malice and general misery that was served by the riots.
@dannyodwyer The rest of those that didn't participate in the riot barring those that sympathized rightly objected to this chaos. Are the rioters incapable of getting their point across short of violence? They may have had an opinion, but others don't have to suffer for it, especially those who weren't had nothing to do with their disagreement. It was just self centered and needlessly violent, and even those rioters who voiced their minds on television didn't have much worthwhile to say even if they felt they were justified. So long as that's not forgotten...
@dannyodwyer Of course it's apathy - and there were five deaths attributed to the riots, not one. I don't take offense to this bit, I just think it's in poor taste, and I'm pretty sure that if one of the five killed had been a loved one of yours, you wouldn't treat the subject so blithely.

You're welcome to be offended by anything, that's your right, but you don't have the right to never be offended, and it's just silly to be offended on other people's behalves, or to chastise us because you think some people might find something offensive.
We never set out to deliberately be offensive (well, hardly ever), but if we took out anything that someone somewhere might find offensive from our videos they'd be dull as dishwater.
1 Like @thebrown07 @tgwolf @paradoxes In London, one person was killed in Brixton during the riots, but it was a gang shooting that wasn't connected to the looting.
If it makes you feel better I was stuck in my central London flat with no electricity while theives robbed and burned buildings on my street, and through stones and bricks at the windows around mine. So though I don't think I require ownership of an event to make light of it, I was effected by the riots more than most people.
We do this show every week, so why not do one about the riots? It gave us an excuse to play GTA and talk about one of the most bizare experiences of our adult lives.
