10,000 years after the battle of light and darkness, The fearsome demon Valmar is hell-bent on destroying the world. At a time of need, unexpected heroes rise up against him. Ryudo heroically sets out to save the world from peril, Where he will find his heart, his soul, his destiny, as you do.
Grandia II is the game that first got me into the Grandia series. The battle system was state-of-the-art and one of my favourite features of the game. I first played it on dreamcast but when I sold it I desperately looked for a copy of it on the PS2. That is how good the game is to me. Grandia II is a game that does something different than your average RPG. It isn’t repetitive, and the gameplay has been Critically acclaimed by many critics. But the thing that this game does best, is it's battle system. It's a little slower than the first game, but it brings out a whole new generation of moves and magic.
On the field, you can see the monsters, and as well as that, you can see whether you can get an advantage in battle by attacking from behind, or if you get ambushed. The game features thousands of interactive non-playable characters.
The characters are neatly presented with excellent voice acting and great attitudes. You play as Ryudo, a Geohound who gets hired to do jobs you would never do (slay monsters, etc...), and he seems to of had a horrendous childhood. But when he is hired to escort Elena, a songstress of the Granas Church, his world get's turned upside down. Along your journey you shall meet characters which you will get to know very well as you travel.
The story is told in the most excellent way a story really can be told. It's a story of love, sacrifice, betrayal, adventure, corruption, religion, demons and friendship. The plots are completely unexpected, and that's the beauty of it all. You feel so connected with the characters as the plots go by.
It's a game to be favoured and remembered.
