Guitar Hero World Tour User Review
Guitar Hero tackles Rockband. Not bad for a first attempt.

- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 20 to 40 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Ambitious"
When the first Guitar Hero came out back in 2005, it became a world wide phenomenon and both it and its sequels became favorites at parties and many other special occasions thanks to their innovative idea of using a plastic guitar to imitate the real thing. In 2007 came Rockband, another music game that challenged guitar hero by adding more creative options and the addition of drums and vocals. It to became a massive success. In 2008 came Guitar Hero: World Tour, which challenged Rocband's gameplay by also adding the four instrument options. Even though this game cannot really top off Rockband, it was still an overall satisfying Guitar Hero experience in the end, despite notable flaws.
PROS:
-The addition of drums and vocals are a nice touch in the end
-The new slider for the guitar is very helpful when trying to tackle those really difficult solos
-A more complex character creation system
-Pretty good songs to choose from
-Improved graphics from GH 3
-More lively motion capture that make your characters seem more alive
-Complex, yet innovative music creation system
CONS:
-Trying to activate vocal star power is annoying
-Not as many clothing and hair options for your characters
-Some of the characters appear a bit uggo
-There's really no need to have all of these cameo apperances
-Alot of the songs in here are ones I have already played in Rockband 2
-No vocal options in music creator
-This doesn't need a story
-The main story route is just like previous Guitar Hero games, which really should have improved
If you have already grown accustomed to Rockband and Rockband 2, you'll find something to like in here, provided you can get used to the repeating song selection, annoying vocal star power activation, and a repeating song list. What should really draw you in, though, is the new music creator, which is actually pretty affective and you could end up spending many sleepless hours trying to perfect it. It is a decent attempt to try and compete with Rockband, but it still doesn't rise above it.

Too little too late? GHWT brings little to the table, and much of it has already been broughten.
