OK. WTF?! SPOILER ALERT. I love how he says that there are some tough puzzles, then says like this one. Then spoils it for you by not only telling you the solution, he F'ing shows it to you. I really don't like this reviewer, he seems like someone's dad, who doesn't like video games is being forced to review them. Kevin Van Ord is the best reviewer on this site.

Wow, you know, out of all the entertainment I'm into, I'm mainly a musician, and Dimmu Borgir is one of the bands on my "A-list" so to speak, one that has had a major influence on my musical senses and all that... But that this music, which would fit a game like 'The Darkness' or similar, would be featured in an ARCADE-game, I never thought. This is definitely not for commercial reasons (as in licensing pop-music to draw more people and make more money), but artistic reasons, which is all the right way to do it. And I'm really curious what it's like to play this game to/with music that I so thoroughly know. However... I have no Xbox... and I'm sad to see this is not on PS3 or even PC apparently... I'd think this would be on Steam?... By the way: A game-developer, depending on what kind of game, would do right by hiring Mustis as a composer.

If prehistoric 2D sidescrollers, albeit beautiful, are still being made, cannot we have some beautiful turn based strat games for our couch buddies? Ta

@TomMcShea GameSpot staff member They just dont know what makes a game good or better. You did a great job on Infamous 2. It is a good game but not a 9-10. Still a lot of fun. Good review. Anyway. ITSP is a nice DL game. I like games like that. Limbo showed us how important the core of a game is, so does this one..

poor controlls are maybe the challange in game slike these

I bet the visuals would look amazing on like a 50-60" TV screen. Unfortunately I only have my 360 hooked up to a 26" TV (I feel the same way when I play Bastion on it).

@padako well IGN is kind of a joke a lot of the time so who knows

@zoeyleft I have a very high end PC. I have played Metro 2033 many times with it maxed. I love playing Stalker games and the Witcher 2. I also have put tons and tons of time into games like Terraria, Minecraft, Braid, Eufloria, World of Goo and many more games like these. While visuals can be a great boost to a game. The gameplay is the most important thing. I found it a little funny myself when I got very wrapped up in Minecraft. After all the money I spend on my PC I now play a game that looks like that. Ultimately games like these are just great and they are different. Many of the best games these days come from the indie style community. They aren't afraid to take the risks required to make a great game while big name brands stick to the formula that worked last year because they know it will sell. I love the Assassin Creed games, but honestly how much innovation is there? The original was fresh and new, but they are now just being made for money and that unique factor is gone.

Looks so good! I must get this.

This game definitely has charm. I played it for about 30 minutes last night. I like it so far. I'd rather a game let me discover things for myself, actually. So, that's not a bad thing to me. Side note: From Dust is SO ADDICTIVE! I LOVE THAT GAME!

@uglypinkmoose the funny part is that the reviewer on IGN said that this game is only about 4 hours long. I think Tom is saying it's 8 hours long if you do everything (beyond just beating the game) and, let's face it, most of us don't.

uglypinkmoose

looks alright....8 hours is pretty long for a game like this

@jamesbigmac @Toysoldier34 funny how both of you comment my comment with "play call of duty" comments... i said people with powerful computer. call of duty doesnt need one. metro2033 needs one.

Well crap .. now I want this game and I haven't finished Catherine or Bastion on New Game+ ... and Deus Ex 3 is only 20 days away! I have a lot of gaming lined up considering that it is the slow time of the year!

The game does have a good look to it, and Im honestly tired of hearing proffesional reviewers whine about how a game didnt hold their hand enough. Seriously, I assume all of you have been with this medium since the begining? Does a game ALWAYS have to tell you what to do and where to go? Is discovery and exploration lost in this medium today?

Might buy it. From Dust had a 7.5 too and it was great!

The graphic design is very nice, unique but the gameplay is a different story. The review sums it up nicely, thanks Tom!

@zoeyleft Some people love these kinds of games, but the new Call of Duty is coming soon so you won't have to wait long.

... how many of these 2d games with "immersive" and "beautiful" and "creative" visuals have we seen now? I mean come on, anyone with a powerful computer that can play the high end games will spend maybe 5min with these games before they never touch it again. Braid was playable because it was the first. we dont care about them no more. please

I was sold when I seen the preview trailer of it on Xbox live. 100% of time nomally if a game rating is this low I don't buy it but not this time. Bastion is is the one i'm most lookin forward to playin though out of all the summer of arcade titles

Games looks great. I would play myself before deciding if the control issues are as bad as he said.
