What a crock of .... half the features Denby Grace mentioned in this interview were removed from the game prior to release.

Mafia II takes the open-world gameplay of the original and places it in the rip-roaring '50s. Find out more in our interview with producer Denby Grace.
MOTHER OF GOD!!! this looks incredible. I wanna hug the developers! The whole visual scheme really works, they don't strive for the unattainable "real" life graphics but rather go for a smooth art style that works with the time period. Not to mention the PHYSICS! wow mama cita! Everything is so well thought out to, and when you see the cut scenes it's like a really good movie. I'm WAY to excited:( but who else feels what i'm talking about? wowowowowowo go Czechs
omg people stop saying that it's like gtaiv....it's a logical thing!!!! GTA is made by Rockstar witch is a 2K games founded company OMG!!........Anyway gta and mafia are the best games anyone could desire.
do not, I repeat, do not swap realism for "fun" or I will swap buying it for going up to your door and kick u in the groin. We have so little good games with an o.k. atmosphere and a hint of realism you guys actually nailed it and now you want to trade it for a larger audience: might as well stop being in the art buisness; if money's all you want, take ur own game's advice; become a creep. Sorry, had to be said, besides that, the game looks amazing, can't wait to buy it, keep up the good work.
I'm excpecting this to be GTA IV Mafia version... I'm quite sure it isn't one though. It looks great atleast.
Oh and people? Don't compare the Mafia games to the Godfather games. It's like comparing gold to... excrements :) Oh and, other than the driving, I really think they ought to improve the graphics as well. I am willing to wait till 2010 but then I'd demand to have a COMPLETE masterpiece of a game, just like Mafia 1 was back then.
The only thing that turned me off is the unrealistic driving. I really hope they make it as realistic as possible because I absolutely hate the unrealistic driving of The Godfather 1 & 2 for example but enjoyed the driving of Mafia 1. And, he said something about Mafia being less fun because of its realism. That's plain BS. I really enjoyed Mafia like few other games because of its realism (and beauty, story, and overall experience of course). I particularly enjoy GTA IV due to those things too. To sum it up, I REALLY HOPE THEY DON'T SCREW UP WITH THIS GAME. (can't stress REALLY enough)
The game looks very nice, and has an amazing atmosphere. Mafia I is my favourite game ever, and unfortunately I am a little worried with this one : the guy talks about the first Mafia succeeding in its realism, but not being that fun (bullsh*t). I hope this doesn't mean they are going to make this game easier and more appealing to a wider audience instead of making a difficult and realistic game. Look at the driving, it seems very arcade-like (although that may just because the game is in its early stages). The shooting looks pretty good, although the perspective looks a bit like Fallout 3's 3rd person view (this may be cleaned up too though). I hope they will keep all the things that made Mafia I such a realistic and original experience, like having to fill up your gas tank, losing your bullets in the clip you drop when reloading, and also add great new stuff. Please keep the game a simulation, not an arcade game for idiots! GTAIV had very realistic driving and still sold a lot, so just make a GREAT GAME.
The aiming system is going to be so much better than any GTA. No more crappy autoaiming and giant circle crosshairs.
Any game that allows u to steal cars, shoot endless amounts of ppl or run them over with your car is gonna be called a knock off from gta! but who cares i believe that there should be more games like these i love them!! if we only relied on gta we have to wait years for the games to come out n if its like gta 4 then we waited a long time for a rather middle rate game. At least this way we get more of what we love and an even better chance of finding a grate game of this style!
the game is coming out on 9 october...i think its going to be the game of the year..well it looks like it...but me i cant wait till it comes out...loved the first one i was stuck on it playing for months
Looks like Mafia II will have a good chase cam while driving thank God! One of the major flaws of GTA IV. Can't wait for this one!
Yep, this game looks like a cousin to GTAIV but, at least to me, that's a good thing, right? Anyway, why they always interview the Producer (who usually is in charge of the game's schedule and not of the game play) instead of the Lead Game Designer?
Retard's this is the sequel to the best game ever made to date MAFIA made in 2002 and still dumpZ on the lame GTA 4 + all gta series.
Rly scared about the driving thing.......i loved mafia 1 cars. The fact that steering and driving through the town wasn't gta like..wrecking everything, smashing everything, is what made the game great. I loved the fact that the police pulled you over for speeding or running a red light. If this will turn into a retarded arcade game i will be disappointed.
did the guy say mafia 1 wasn't interesting plot-wise? is he crazy or what? it's been one of the most playable/cinematographic/involving game I've ever played!
i've been wating for mafia 2 since i finished mafia 1, but it has taken much longer time than it should really take. changing the driving is not a good feature, well let's see .............the taste of the soup is in its eating
Why would they change the driving system? They should have just improved on the previous one. The realism in the driving made Mafia great. Don't turn it into a dumbed down arcade game.
Gamespot are slow cause its managed my monkeys and they have bananas trolling thier forums. They do the job once in a while (sort of).
i found out the release date for this ages ago why are gamespot so slow haha anyway i have been waiting soooo long for this game finally its coming out soon :D
