Dear Bioware,

Thank you for doing the right choice. Thank you for forgetting about your ego. For giving us an ending we all wanted. Thank you for not wasting 100+ hours of our lives and making us feel like anything we did on a videogame counted. Oh wait. You did the complete opposite. Fuck you Bioware! You can take your dlc and shove it up your ass motherfuckers! You are done. Finished, nobody will buy DA3 and then only YOU will have to deal with the fact that you are your own shitty crucible ending.

How can anybody be satisfied with this ending? If you are then you are not a true ME fan, sorry but it's true.

After potentially tens (hundreds?) of hours spent building your character over the three games, all your decisions, choices and experiences are just ignored, and you get the same 40 second movie as everyone else. This is Bioware saying if you don't agree with their endings, then screw you, you failed, here's a lacklustre ending.

Truly despicable behaviour by Bioware, I'm embarrassed and ashamed.

@dahui58 I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with that statement. I'm a ME fan, played all of them several times, and this seems the most logical ending for me. I just can't see Shepard going along with the Space freak child. He/She has absolutely no reason to trust him.On the other hand, Shepard has fought his/her foes with absolute determination through every game in the series. Preferring that solution to controlling or the synthesis ending seems normal to me. The only other ending that makes some sense is the destruction of all synthetics, and even that one hinges on trusting the freak child.Although I guess this all comes down to how we interpret Shepard's character.

@y_roland You entirely missed the point of my post, I never said it was illogical or didn't make sense, why do you think I chose this ending myself? The fact you get a 40 second video explaining you failed is an obvious message from Bioware, when you compare it to the length of the rubbish extended endings they came up with. I would agree with you that all the endings are bull crap, that was not the point I was making though

I absolutely love this game. What a great story. I can actually say having played through 2 & 3 that I was moved by what happened. To think Shepherd goes through all that to have his/her life taken at the end along with friends is very sad. Better value than any crap film out there and a landmark title for the computer games industry. Oh, and Dark Souls is good too!

I have to say this is the only ending that brings the original endings that were absolutely horrible to just weak. This is the ending that makes sense for Shepard. Not going to play by the Reapers rules, not going to decide between genocide (of Geth), posponing the danger (since with Control I expect the Reapers to go back to their original behavior eventually), or committing an assault against life itself (synthesis - remove racism by making everyone the same). We fight and we may die, but we will take every Reaper we can with us!

Now of course it isn't perfect by any stretch. They could have used the war assets to show how the battle would change and maybe allow for victory through use of arms if you gathered just enough of the various people's together. But no, just weakly skipping to the future and that's it. Sad that Bioware made the best ending they had pretty weak visually.

In the end I'll try to remember Mass Effect with this ending. It wasn't a great ending, but it could have been worse (like what we had originally). The galaxy lost this round, but did enough damage and left enough information for the next cycle to beat the Reapers the right way. Not through negotiating with a God Child, but through blowing them into tiny pieces.

@FlareKnights You don't know that it was the next cycle. It doesn't tell you how many cycles fought against the Reapers between Shepard's one and the Stargazer. It could have been 1, it could have been 10, with each cycle adding a little more to Liara's archive for the next lot.

@Spahettificator But that doesn't really matter. It was close enough that the tech Liara used didn't break. Just lasting into the next cycle would be impressive. At most with that consideration it was 2 cycles. Regardless the damage done to the Reapers in this final battle couldn't be negated by a few cycles. Also however long it was that information gave future generations the ability to ambush the Reapers before they were ready or at least be fully prepared. The entire face of the conflict was changed.

@FlareKnights But at what cost? You had the chance to end it then and there, to kill every Reaper in the Galaxy at the cost of only one race of beings, the Geth.

Instead you chose to doom all of the races of Shepard's cycle and possibly several afterwards. The Geth still died, you didn't save them at all. All your choice did was add more billions to the Reapers kill count before they were stopped.

As Garrus says, it's the cold calculus of war. This group die so that more might live. Legion understood it, hence why he gave his life to give individuality to the Geth. The Geth as a whole understood it too, which they showed by putting that new individuality and life at risk by going to war against the Reapers with you. They could have fled, as a race they'd have a better chance of surviving than any of the organic species but instead they were willing to give their lives to save the other races of the Galaxy.

Good ending, it could have been better if we watched them all die in battle. Or did they die? There could be survivors, hiding, waiting, like the Prothean DLC dude was?..

By no means a great ending, or even a "good" bad ending, but imo better than the other choices.

Otherwise it would be destroy if it didn't cost all synthetic life. Which doesn't make sense even when explained.

This ending was literally made for no other reason than to reinforce the horrible endings they made in the first place,

Why would Liara leave that message for future civilizations WITHOUT mentioning that the only reason all that effort didn't pay off is BECAUSE of some idiot walking away at the last minute? She literally is just misleading everybody into a state of utter hopelessness. I'd have been like "Yeah, so totally use the retarded space cannon! We built it and... well, we just didn't use it... so yeah, try using it!"

LoL was going for the destroy ending and i accidentally got the refuse ending!I dont know if its a mistake or if it was supposed to happen but i shot starchild with my pistol and then the kid said "so be it!The cycle continues" and i got the refuse endingXD

Turn off catalyst then shoots Shepard out into space

I do not understand this ending in the slightest. You spent three games fighting to stop the Reapers only to walk away when you have the chance? If Shepard didn't want to destroy/control/merge the Reapers than why did he/she even go to the Citadel? What other options did Shepard expect to have?

@stealth6spy Exactly. There's sticking to your guns, and then there's being straight up stupid. Yes, Shepard went through a lot to gather a huge fleet, but by using the Crucible he has the opportunity to end it right away, and save a lot of lives.

@Gelugon_baat Well somewhere down the line they were. It might have been after another 5 cycles or something, with each cycle which died adding a bit more to the archive.

I think it was the very next cycle but that is one of the cool things we organics did was find a way to pass our knowledge on to the next cycle. I mean if you gain this info decades or centuries in advance of the reapers then you may verywell kick ass.

Best ending imo. It would've been awesome if they showed everyone being taken and turned to DNA paste. And also how the next cycle eventually defeats the reaper.

With all the talks, this ending is the same as Destroy IF the child didn't use reverse psychology on you. Ohhhh?. kill me (child)...? no way (Sheperd)...? great (child), here is other choices that I have in mind actually (psych).

@WhiteScorpian Pretty ideas isn't going to kill the Reapers. Didn't you pay any attention during the game? There was no way that fleet was going to defeat the Reapers conventionally.

i think we should all stop complaining because 1) we might hurt EA's and Bioware's feelings and 2) they might get the idea we didnt get closure enough and make a 4Gb DLC with twice the amount of Godchild, still pictures with a voiceover and tons of new plot holes.

You have been warned, stop the constructive criticism and just swallow the BS once and for all! (nah i'm just yanking your chains the endings are awfull and they can burn in the center of the sun for all i care)

This is what i did after getting the DLC, but still didnt change the utter disappointment and anti-climactic ending the series got. Its really kinda a tragedy to end something so great on such a low.

hm? didn't they say they wouldn't make a new ending? rather just extend the ones it already had? ah well..... not that I care anyway.... I'm done with mass effect. I just hope that, if they make a new game in the mass effect universe they don't mess up like they did with mass effect 2 & 3 (not that it matters anymore, they are good, but could have been excellent, and please no mass effect MMORPG definitely would NOT work. (I really do not have high hopes to elder scrolls, I just hope I'm wrong ¬¬). sorry for the bad english... (I think.) I'm just too lazy to double check what I just wrote XD

for all of you still complaining about the ending.you are forgetting one thing about this game it`s about shepards journey not the ending that`s important. as for the the extended cut well i playing the game again to see what it is.either i will love it .for the journey that i`ve had with my shepard.
