2 Like I see people complain about first names but when a legend is born you don't call them Bob or Sara....you call them Hero, you call them Legend....you call them Commander.
You know...I don't think the Prime A.I. is the catalyst...the catalyst is Sheppard....every ending requires sheppard.

it's a sad feeling when people don't know your actual first name
then again, no one would ever put her name (commander dick shepard) on the wall
1 Like cant shepard just make a body of her/his own now that he has the limitless technology of the reapers...cant she do something like that cant she even send a message to her friends that she is alive and to not put her name on the memorial..Or maybe in the next game We will fight Shepard....That would be a awesome twist...

5 Like I liked this ending but it kinda makes any new games they have planned for this universe pointless if this is accepted as the main canon.
I mean who can really threaten the galaxy now? With the Reapers under control the good guys have basically found the "I win" button and taped it down indefinitely.
Hit the Reaper attack button and then the credits roll. Bad guy defeated. Any new games would have to be a prequel if this ending is accepted as canon. And you know there's going to be more Mass Effect games...
It was completely unnecessary... the real drama of being isolated in the galaxy is lost.... I'm sorry about the "...." users who forced you to do this....
1 Like Wow, this is a much more dramatic conclusion. I'm moved by the scenes passing by as Shepard explains everything. The CGI elements also work out well. Now, there are a lot of endings to choose from. Gamers, happy now?

This new ending doesn't necessarily bust the indoctrination theory.
The child said that, when choosing Control, Shepherd would die, but his/her thoughts and memories would continue. Sheperd's speech might therefore not be related to reality, but an own vision of what he/she believed in. This can be a possibility, while she still is indoctrinated.
1 Like Finally a good ending to this game. When I played the original game, I wanted to throw my remote at the TV after seeing the initial ending. Not closure to an epic game.

@Ultra_Taco I call the endings Refuse Destroy, Refuse Control, Refuse Synthesis, and Choose Liberty.
@xsonicchaos The whole point for me was to stand my ground and make the right choice no matter what stupid choices are laid in front of me.

Funny that the evil ending is the happy one. The synthetic live, Sheppard becomes immortal and all powerful and the Reapers become watchdogs.
1 Like @oria Why do you call this one the "evil ending"? I was actually thinking the synthesis ending was the "evil" choice since Shepherd forces all intelligent life to "evolve" in the same manner while giving them no choice.
@wwlettsome Hmm, so if luke skywalker decided to take over the galaxy at the end of empire, but he made his buddies grand moff's, that'd be a good ending? Hmm, come to think of it, killing a moon sized space station full of people and delegating the galaxy to anarchy is pretty evil.
1 Like These cutscenes are great. I haven't played ME3 yet, but now I look forward to it (, contrary to when I saw the original endings on youtube). It's nice to know that choosing at the end will actually matter. By the way, this doesn't spoil anything for me, because I will only choose the ending the moment when I reach it by myself.
3 Like This extended ending revived the series for me. It may be late, but it was the ending necessary to conclude the games.
To all naysayers and people who say the original ending was better; Seriously?With the old ending it made almost no difference whether you 100% finished the game or did the very least just to get to the ending. There was no incentive to play again and make different choices. It killed my drive to touch the Mass Effect Series. If you liked the old ending you weren't one of the players that invested emotions into the characters in the series or cared about your decisions.
With this new ending I'm keen to bring my other accounts in Mass Effect 2 through to the end.
I seriously suggest that players actually go through with the ending rather than watching it on Gamespot. It provides background into your personal decisions, who lived and who died. Mass Effect 3 just became top of my replay list.
@AuGZA Ditto! I don't see how people can still complain...they obviously spent a lot of time extending the original ending.
Great. Spoilers on the first page of gamespot... The titles alone of the possible endings was kinda enough.
