@cosades2002 I just ordered this game.  I heard the female Sheppard is a lot cooler than the male version.  Your thoughts...

@push88  @cosades2002 With the female shepard, the game deals with sexism and it is quite interesting to see especially if you're male. For example, a character said I should work as a stripper (something along those lines) in ME2 and I genuinely got offended. It sort of gives you an insight into how women can be treated in our current society while not being overly preachy or exaggerated.

@push88  I should also note that it might take a few hours for the game to really kick in. Thats how it was for me, anyways. First time I played it I did about three hours and quit, then 6 months later started again and played straight through from there.

@push88  @cosades2002  I played through all three games with the standard male version without any physical adjustments and found that to be the very best experience compared to my secondary play through with female or adjusted male characters.

I forgot how the game really felt like an RPG in the first one! The 2 and 3 looks more like a 3person shooter!

interesting review - now that I have the game, I probably should have watched this first, but that's okay :)

Hm... Not intrigued... And since this game isn't on the PS3, I'm not getting it anyway. PC is my main platform, but this kind of game is not for PC although it seems like it was kind of "Windows-developed" starting this first game out on PC and X360 only... Hm... Seems rather boring anyway, not my thing I guess... I think I'll try the Demo of the second game on the PS3 if there is one.

spartan i prefer the rpg elements and tactics combat from ME1,M2 is epic but i miss the rpg side and the choices u could do during combat

Should I get ME2 or start out with the original?? About how long is the game??

@ninn1000 I see you posted this over a year ago, but what the hell hahaha. If you still haven't played either yet definitely start with the first. IMO the first was much better than the second.

My favorite in the series, me2 was great but i think it lost some of the things that made me1 amazing, like by ripping out alot of the exploration aspects and making every mission a corridor shooter, and that most of the game is just building up a team.

@kazumashadow Great idea. You won't regret it, I promise. It's a shame tons of PS3 players may not experience the first game which is equally as amazing.

ME1 was too frustrating, and I gave up on it. ME2 is much much better. I'll have to go back and play the first one again.

Wow. I usually like his reviews, but I never watched this one.... You know, I've beaten Mass Effect almost a dozen times... and it's easily the second best game ever made; its sequel was the first, of course. 8.5 is a respectable score, and I know the XBox game was a bit of a mess... heck the PC version was a bit of one too constructurally... but seriously? I think he should have spent a bit more time talking about the epic-ness and the beautiful environments and the Codex system and the incredible script-writing and characters and the dynamic background creation and inference... ie: Mindoir subplot and Earthborn gang subplot and Ruthless references... etc. Real disappointment. Agree about the Mako though. Dear God, I hate that thing! Will I take planet scanning any time over it? No comment....

wow i beat the game once, have over 18 hours of play time in and am on my second playthrough, and just found out about the biotec power things....i had wondered what the right bumper did when i accidently pressed it accidently when trying to change weapons, would have been nice if i found out about them eariler....lol

This is one of the best RPG games I have ever played but the only bad thing is that when you finish the story you must load some previous data if you wanna do the side missions. So I recommend everyone do the side missions while you can. And I give it a 9.5

@ macho08 I disagree. This is a very Xbox centered site. There was an article comparing the ME2's, and the reviewer wasn't saying anything good about the PS3 version even when it's running on the ME3 engine. Every multiplatform game gets directed to the 360 review. But even so, it doesn't really matter. Just with some brutal honesty, not to be a fanboy here, but if the 360 keeps losing it's exclusives and developers, it's going to die. Unless Kinect becomes less of a motion gimmick and more of a game. Also, MGS4 deserved a very high score. I didn't enjoy the online much, but it came out...i don't even know when, and is STILL an amazing experience. And if anyone accuses me of coming in here and bashing, that's not my goal. I wanted to learn about the original ME.

the mako wasnt even that bad, i wish they had it in me2, cuz me2 wasnt really free roaming, the citadel was so stripped down compared to mass effect

@darkcomedian Kevin probably were the whole game saying "uh.... is this the fire button or do I move the mako like these"

A phenomenal game that sets the benchmark for RPG's on this generation of consoles imo.
