Have to admit I miss a single player MW experience with storyline, but the multiplayer is pretty addictive and play it in a guild with people who understand teamwork, roles, tactics etc. and its a hell of a lot more fun than playing as a lone wolf.

This isnt a mmo this is a battlefield combat game title is wrong from beggining

Seriously f*** this MMO nonsense. This trailer is terrible. Definitely miss the story aspect behind these games; they always emphasised and complimented how awesome (as in scale) these things were and what they truly meant to the battlefield in a futuristic conflict. I still remember some of the stuff that went down in the story of the previous games. Now all that's lost and the lack in story will make the the actual battles seem less dynamic and important.

I'd love to be able to play this oldschool with a joystick, but I know I'd have to play mouse and keyboard to be more competitive online. This sucks.

Although I like the game, I don't like this variant of the hunchback or the catapult variant given away as founders mechs, it seems stupid using the weaker variant as a founders mech, even if it does give something like 20% bonus xp, or credits I think, can't remember which. I wish I had gone with the Elite package rather than the legendary as the Elite seems more value for money.

I am not sure why catapults which are piss poor at close range are closing in on a hunchback. Anyway, I have been reading a fair bit about the game at mechwarrior online. It seems that it will not be very casual player friendly from all the posts I have read.

@FoeCrusher  its not supposed to be. mechwarrior has always been a get it or dont game. if you dont understand it and cant grasp it your simply another piece of cannon fodder

Hm I like it but I don't love it. The AC of the AC20 stands for auto cannon not awesome cannon so I was hoping for a really satisfying version of the mechwarrior 2 AC. This is cool to though, maybe the lbx20 will be what I'm looking for.

I'd pay for this game if it looked at least a bit interesting.

Let that hunchback run into a Timber Wolf and see how powerful he feels.... can anyone say MechCommander intro video?

harbdog01
harbdog01

@blacksaibot Timberwolf is also 50% heavier, so of course its gonna have a tough time.  Doesn't mean he won't deal some serious damage before going down though!

It's in Closed Beta. You can pay $30 to gain early access and get a premium account once it's released. You don't pay to play the game, it will be free once it's out.

$80 for a F2P MO game? i though $60 retail games were expansive.

Darkwalker75
Darkwalker75

@y3ivan  You dont have to pay if you dont want to.

They offer the founders packs at $30, $60 and $120, but they will not be available for much longer.

And the game will be free to play, with no purchase required once its released.

Besides its no different than a collectors edition for other games, they usually cost around $100-$120

y3ivan
y3ivan

@Darkwalker75 $120 for a digital game? that way too much for me even for a digital collectors edi.

anyway, the F2P model doesnt sound good at all, unless everything is unlocked without a single dime spend. which i hardly doubt it

harbdog01
harbdog01

@y3ivan oh and they've disclosed that anything that can be bought with real money can also be earned in-game.  Though it may not include things like paint jobs, but will include weapons, mechs, modules.

harbdog01
harbdog01

@y3ivan $120 is for those who think its worth that much. If it's worth $30 to you then spend that much. If its worth $5 to you, then spend that much. Or nothing at all.

Darkwalker75
Darkwalker75

@y3ivan Why do you find it so hard to believe that everything is unlocked from the start?

It just so happens to be the way it is.

Everything is available to everyone from the first login.

I recommend you go to the MWO site and read some of the information there.

It should alleviate your doubts.

Also, you dont have to buy the founders packs, you dont have to buy anything.

Once the game is released it will be free to download and play.

You never have to spend a penny to play, and still have full access to everything.

Another great title that we lost to MMOs...

Darkwalker75
Darkwalker75

@Cristhian_Cobas  It was either this or nothing at all.

There was no publishers willing to support a the way the devs originally wanted to make it.

At least this way there is a chance more will come in the future.

Cristhian_Cobas

@Darkwalker75 It's ok, I'm not saying its bad, but the problem is that we're losing most story driven franchises to MMOs... I find that most disturbing, cause even if they offer a "story" line, it's never as great as a single player campaign... I do play a lot of MMOs but IMO they do not have strong story driven quests... Most of them are driven to making the players spend money to buy special equiment and/or armor and pvp fighting... this is what I regret...

Cristhian_Cobas
Cristhian_Cobas

@Darkwalker75 kudos to that thought!! Well, let's just see how it goes, hopefully it will deliver... or we will have to start a gaming company just to make a truly worthy sequel to the Battletech universe... haha

Darkwalker75
Darkwalker75

@Cristhian_Cobas  Well this I can agree with.

Not only that, but many of the stories of todays single player games are shallow and boring.

I miss the games of old when you had truly entertaining games.

But if this game can succeed, then it it possible that they may be willing to go for some single player in the future

This *is* Mechwarrior 5 - it got re-purposed for the MMO market. :(

Darkwalker75

It got re-purposed because they could not find anyone willing to publish the Mechwarrior Reboot title they had originally intended.

while that video was really cool, I have to say that a gun as big as the ac/20, there should be some sort of recoil for the hunchback.  it looks funny firing such a big gun and not 1 bit of recoil.

Well, as soon as they have an mmo based on janitorial work, humanity will have seen everything.

@GONtheSKYLORD  This game has nothing to do with mechassult.

Its Mechwarrior which are completely different.

Its first person view only, no 3rd person.

uhh, what?

No the design of the warhammer can't be used in this game due to legal issues. So you won't be seeing it, despite the 2009 trailer, it will NOT be in the game.
