It gets so much coverage for the same reason other things gets a lot of coverage. People like it. In this game people can be creative and fool around on their own terms, in other words they can play and there aren't many rules constricting them.

What's actually surprising is that crap like CoD, where the latest game is basically the first Modern Warfare all over again, with a shitty "movie" script and generic non-realistic weapons. But it's the same there, people like it. Sad but true.

it is, and i agree. i haven't bought a CoD game since it was world war 2 themed. there has just always been an fps on the market that is technically superior to it.  minecraft is a very mainstream title though also.

my 8 year old nephew is all into "minecwaft" right now because it is very mainstream.  sure i think this would have been a fun and interesting game 15-20 years ago and if i were under the age of ten, but now this is just a joke to me that someone has the time to play this as an adult when there are so many highly complex and stimulating games out to play right now. playing a virtual lego game is really not that creative. go buy some lego and have at'er.

I dare you to try the game and say its not complex. Then again, why would I want such a hipster playing a game that I love? (ahem: your love affair with the word mainstream being a bad thing). seriously though, I bet you couldnt name a game more complex than minecraft from your repertoire, so go back to your games that are "technically superior" to cod, we'll be playing a game that still puzzles people who've spent days playing it.

so tragic..using the word hipster is so hipster right now. you have lost perspective, you don't realize that minecwaft is such a hipster game amongst lame psuedo-inteligent nerds like yourself. you have to try and look at the depth of the game objectively, which you are incapable of. this games popularity has been perpetuated by lame video came journalists ever since it came out. they overhyped it and you went out and bought it.

This is rediculous that this crap gets so much coverage.

Why is this game for slightly retarted adults, and five year old children so popular. This is a a glorified lego game, based on 20 year old technology. You boring fools have deluded yourselves into thinking this is a creative game. get a life and build some lego in real life, and quit dumbing down this industry by diverting attention and money away from creative talent making quality games for adults
