I cant connect with my friend's psp using Ad Hoc mode, how do i connect?

My friend's psp version is v4.01 m33-2, while mine is v5.00 m33-6.
We attempted a quest together in the online gathering hall using adhoc, but how do i do so? We had our channels set to automatic for the network settings and MHFU's settings, but we couldnt see the quests on the board, we tried changing channels in the psp's network settings, but we still couldnt do it. How do i connect using Ad Hoc? Are there requirements?

There is a possibility that you guys are playing different versions.

-Check to make sure you guys are both playing the same version (not one person playing US and the other EUR)
to do that you can simply check your save file name and if they are different (ULUSXXXXX and ULUSYYYYY) then you guys are playing different versions.

OR

If you guys can see each other in the Gathering Hall, then maybe you aren't setting up the quest correctly.
When you set up the quest make sure that you select yes when the woman asks if you would like to recruit additional hunters.

Also remember that the range for the PSP's AD-HOC is only around 30 feet. SO be sure to be in that range.
