Bethesda rereleasing popular RPG this summer for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC according to Overstock.com; GOTY Edition, Collector's Edition content, and $10 off Skyrim included.
On 11/11/11, Bethesda Softworks will release Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the latest game in the Elder Scrolls role-playing game series. However, gamers looking to relive the franchise lore may be able to grab a rerelease of the critically adored Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion this summer.
The news stems from a retail listing at Overstock.com, which indicates that Bethesda is planning a special $30 5th Anniversary Edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for release on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on June 28.
According to Nitrobeard, the 5th Anniversary Edition will include the Game of the Year edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, as well as Collector's Edition content (a map, "Making of" DVD, and a new Skyrim trailer), and a $10 off coupon for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The edition also comes in a sleek steel case with a slipcover.
Bethesda has not officially announced the 5th Anniversary Edition of Oblivion, and as of press time, the publisher has not responded to GameSpot's requests for comment or clarification on the matter.

@Bentrink: Even more misleading is the limitation to US only on the NA version... Hell, I had to have mine shipped with amazon US cause they won't sell it in Quebec (No french version = No gaming store can sell it here) In two words: Cash-Grab (and yes I bought it cause it's shiny *blush*...)
Just picked it up tonight in fact, I played the hell out this game back in the day, but I'm sure there are a bunch of mods that will keep it feeling fresh.
Don't believe this story. I was pretty excited to get a $10 off coupon with this purchase but it is a lie. It is a $10 mail in rebate and the terms are ridiculous. You have to buy the strategy guide as well on the same receipt. This article specifically states "$10 off coupon for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." Very misleading.
I just got the 5th Anniversary Edition today and I cant play it there is way to many bugs its like they didn't even play it sending it out
I think I'd actually buy this. I have the PS3 original, and the PC game of the year, but my computer likes to crap itself trying to play it.
Please fix the PS3 version's Vampire cure bug. It's not worth purchasing if the bug is still present :P
@damien6977 No offense intended when i mentioned graphic whores. To each his own, right? Maybe we'll go back to vvardenfell in an expansion or something, if tons of fans request it. But i can't imagine Bethesda would remake TES 3, do you? But revisiting Vvardenfell and/or a future TES game (or expansion) taking place in the mainland of Morrowind might certainly happen.
@damien6977 There's no point in them remaking it because there are mods that can take care of that - graphics, bugs, combat system. and so forth. All for free. I'm sure they won't remake Morrowind. See, i don't give a damn about graphics. They don't make a game. Which is my point in saying it'll take the charm away from it. I still am playing old games and i still think the graphics are gorgeous. But for people who are graphic whores, there are mods. Maybe Bethesda will make a TES game that takes place in the mainland of Morrorwind, though. So that would be cool.
@nickstick111 Not True (on you're first point.) While I grew up on Daggerfall and Morrowind, my nostalgia will only last so long before I start thinking to myself; Man, this game would be an absolute powerhouse if it's graphics were updated. As a gamer, that's how I think. As much as I adore Sonic and the nostalgia, I'd give my left nut (maybe) to have faithfully recreated revisions in a full 3D envirnment. Like Nintendo did with Mario. If Daggerfall and Morrowind had engine upgrades, I believe they would be monumental best sellers again. Not only would you sate the hunger from diehard fans, but you would draw in the new crowd who believes that Oblivion was the first TES game, (sigh.) Now, Dagger would be a bit of a challenge, but Morrowind wouldn't be that hard. It's already being done, by modders. Morroblivion is a mod that takes Morrowind game and mechanics with the graphics of Oblivion. That statement right there is enough to pique fans. Again, it's only a mod, but it's no where near as bug-less as a game release should be, but then again, what TES game has been? It's hard for the non-informed PC player to properly keep up with and update it. A sole packaged (physical or DD) revision would take that problem out of the equation and allow it to be spread across all mediums. Think there aren't Ps3 owners and even 360 owners today that wouldn't play that? While it's not the next game in the series, it gives most gamers what they've never experienced before; the prequel.
Please remove the bugs in oblivion so I don't have to play in french language to remove my vampirism. That was the most terrible bug if you ask me..
For those who say they want previous Elder Scroll games remade, there is no need. Remaking them would just ruin it - take away the charm. Just buy Morrowind and make yourself play it for at least 5 hours and you'll most likely get hooked. Trust me, it may be a pain at first but it gets easier the more you play (and more rewarding). And Morrowind already has mods that can fix almost everything you want to be fixed. I'd buy it on the PC because, aside from access to mods, the graphics look way better. Or try Arena, or Daggerfall. I'm playing Daggerfall right now and it owns. You guys shouldn't care about graphics at all. My favorite games are by far older ones.
Ive gt 3 copies already the consoles collectors edition plus aPC version for the mods. However PS3 owners would like access to the Orrery, Wizard tower, mehrunes razer , Vile lair, fighters stronghold and even the lame horse armer and spelltomes they should add this to their 5th anniversay edition . One more thing Morrowind GOTY version with its better interface should be ported to Xbox 360 to give thet game justice. I originally wanted the GOTY Edition for the PS3 version, yet I could never find it, so I got the standard edition for $20 and it's been sitting for a while, and I can only get Shivering Isles for $30 on PSN! I would like to get this (The case on Amazon shows that it may have trophies, but I mainly want a $10 off coupon). I feel so stupid now, yet, is it worth buying this version still?
As one out of the possible 3 people that have yet to be graced with Oblivion, I feel like I shall be picking this up. Only reason I don't get the GOTY for much less is the 10 bucks off Skyrim.
For those who don't have the game and never played it, great buy for you. Highly recommend this game to all gamers. For the rest of us who have the game already, not really worth it.
Meh, not worth it, for me. I already own Oblivion GOTY. If you never played it, well, GET IT! The GOTY Edition is $79, the cheapest on Amazon.
Oblivion GOTY is going for 10 dollars/euros/pounds these days, so this offer is a bit pointless to say the least. Besides, you KNOW that Steam and various retail outlets are going to be doing special offers on this anyway. A much better idea would have been an Elder Scrolls Collection, complete with full and HD-enhanced Windows versions of Arena and Daggerfall, an enhanced version of Morrowind GOTY (possibly based on the graphics extender available) and Oblivion GOTY. Possibly also a fixed version of Redguard, which I have but which doesn't work. I would easily have paid 30 euros for such a collection. What's that, Bethesda? Too much like hard work, you say?
I already own the goty edition but if they fix vampire bug add all the dlc's its a must buy but $30 is not bad as it is

Instead of the measly 10 dollar off coupon give the game away with skyrim as part of a package. That should make up for the armour horse debacle.
When I noticed that my main save file read "257 hours", I made the choice to sell my second copy and instantly regretted it. Have been itching to play it again ever since... perfect. If there's one game that's worth buying three times, it's this one.
Still no patch for "horse armor" in the PS3 edition? How about all the bugs from previous versions? Getting stuck as a vampire sucks lol Lame...
1. Boo! Hiss! The Collectors edition I payed $80 for when it first launched should've had a damn metal case to begin with. I feel cheated. Especially since I bought the original at $80 and the GOTY release at full retail as well... 2. Forget a re-release of Oblivion. How about releasing the Oblivion mod that completely re-creates TESIII: Morrowind? Or at least make a 360-compatible version of Morrowind itself with some of the model and animation mods attached? We already have Oblivion, so why not give all of these franchise newcomers a taste of what the True Elder Scrolls is like :D
@andy_factor There's several community-maintained "unofficial" patches that fix a ton of stuff in the main game as well as Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine, and the DLC offered on Bethesda's online store. Check out "The Elder Scrolls Nexus" and just search for "Unofficial Patch". And be sure to grab the hotfixes too.
@andy_factor I believe that once you become a vampire, there is a point where it's impossible to become human again via the quest. This bug was either fixed or never appeared in the PC/Xbox360 versions.

Normally I hate these things, but I might get this one, because oblivion is the best game I have played in the last 10 years, maybe ever. It's definitely worth getting it at this price if you haven't played it yet (HOW?!).
even if they did add trophies to ps3 still not worth it honestly. what i really wish they would do is put the missing DLC's that both xbox and pc got for the ps3 version then i would buy it for sure.
From what I can see, if you already own GOTY edition, it's not worth it. Save your money and put it towards Skyrim, as it doesn't add anything to the game play, plus you have to wait till June 30th. Would be a GREAT deal if it was packaged wih an updater Morrowind that is compatible with Windows 7, then it would be a sure buy for me.
Glad I never bought this game. Now I can get everything for $30 in a comprehensive package 8)
Smart move, give the hungry ES fans something to do while desperately waiting for ES5. Also, the $10 discount pretty much binds a player to purchase the 5th when it's out. Not to mentioned they are also getting $$ from selling a 5 year old game. Genius.
