Ace Combat soars past 10 million sold

i think im the best gamer in ace combat series. No one can touch me.with that off my chest, cant wait for BF3. and i f**** hope that EA make those jets fly as realistic as possible. we don't want computer aided vehicle mechanics in the game. I aint buying this game untill gamepsot review.

@dre256x three things, 1: battlefield 3 beta was a beta not a demo! 2: demos are for showing off the final product, i played the Ace Combat: Assault Horizon demo and it felt like a finished game, 3: betas are for testing the game and finding bugs and glitches to fix for the final product.

I'm glad that it's sold so many copies, but I also would have appreciated it if they did have the Ace combat games for the PC as well.

Never got into these games but this is great news for those that have the set ups witht he flight sticks and all that looks like you'll be getting lots of ace combats still.

Love this series. Ace combat 6 was my personal favorite in this series. But my friend lost my copy during a break in at her home. It wasn't her fault plus. She lost her Xbox 360 and all her games I just lost 1 game. (a great one) I will get around to replacing my copy. I currently only have Ace Combat 4 for PS2. played most for them, But I have played the Demo for Ace Combat assault horizon. which I liked very much. So my friend offered to replace my game. When she is able to. (So no worries) Ace combat Assault Horizon. Is on my list to purchase. just not enough time for the games I want. Which is a nice problem to have.

I played the demo and am not a big fan of the DFM system. And the chopper missions look like they can be a pain. I loved the previous installments with AC6 being my favorite (loved the story). I will get this one out of love for the franchise but I really am having my doubt about it.

I liked the earlier games, but i really didnt like all the "cinematic "bs in this one. It makes it way to easy and shallow.

Yeah, we all remember Air Combat with its' once great graphics which are now mere ugly prisms...then came Ace combat...those were solid games...I even had the chance to get the 360 version with the flight joystick which was also a terrific game. I haven't played the demo but people say it's maybe a little too much hardcore and less realistic. We are in the era of Call of Duty and sadly the industry caters for those teenage gamers who don't like to think to hard and like fast paced action with unlimited bullets(no offense guys) meaning Ace Combat is going to have to take that turn in order to bring in Millions of $$$....just like there are more movies for a general audience instead of having a 13+ movie...it's marketting....just like Star Wars with stupid Jar Jar Bings whom was made up to bring little kiddies to the SW world and sell them games,LEGO, even LEGO STAR WARS on console...

@raahsnavj I agree. Air combat games are usually more accessible for younger audiences, but I guess this is the direction the series is headed in...

Too bad the demo is horrible, and that the game is probably going to be horrible too. A remake of AC5, would be 10 times better. The helicopter gameplay is something little kids should enjoy, considering how simple it is... And lets not forget how nice and simple the dog fight mode is. There's no need for skill, just need to spam the fire button. Little kids love that.

Ace Comback im not a fan but i play all demos and this one and i have to say that best one ever pp to pick up. Namco makeing better games this gen desive top 10 games

wish they included a new thrust controller like they did for the 360 years ago.

I rented Ace Combat 2 years ago and loved it. I never played another one until I found a copy of the original which was O.K., but not great. I got a copy of 2 afterwards and still love it. I tried AC 4 & 5, but thought each title got too realistic and difficult. I never cared to test 3 out and never saw a copy. I decided not to touch Zero. I skipped X, but tried Joint Assault which is the best one I've played since 2. I have yet to play the demo versions of Ace Combat on my Xbox 360. I hope the game feels as fun as 2 and JA.

Didn't this series have a pack in controller at one time?Wonder if you can still get it.

@PlatinumPaladin Well I don't take it for granted, it's easily my most played game this gen and i'm still discovering tiny details and now getting into the MP. :)

@Darth DuMas You're lucky to have a current gen AC to go back to.

I think this solidifies Ace Combat as THE most successful flying game (at least on home consoles). It will be interesting to see if this new game causes that number to stall. Part of me wants it to so they might reconsider this new direction. I get trying to make a more action orientated flyer, but I can't shake this feeling that they're just jumping on the coat tails of Modern Warfare.

Played the demo and not too impressed. The Helicopter controls are horrible after playing Apache Air Assault. And some how the new flight mechanics make the combat feel like a chore. The Ace Combat 6 demo blew me away before I got that game, this just confirms my fears. I'll still get it, but I don't expect it to stay in my 360, i'll probably go back to AC6 after I complete it.

yo guys don't put swear words in my games IT IS BAD!!!!!! But oh let me blow up planes, shoot people, chainsaw people and tear them to shreds.... THAT SH!T IS COOL.

@Granpire - Well, at least they don't have f-bombs all over in it like every FPS out there these days. It would be nice to have filters to cut out the objectionable content like this on games for those that want it - Even Duke Nukem 3D had one...

I'm one of the few that the first AC game for me was 6. I liked the game play, but the story was horrible. After playing this demo I was very happy about the Jet parts, but I was frustrated at first with the Helicopter part. After switch the controls around for the heli I found both experiences to be awesome. As for all the hate the game seems to get around here I think it revolves around the fact most people played it on PSone and PS2 and they can't come to grips with the fact it isn't the same as they remember it when they were younger. Personally I thought the demo was great. I'm looking forward to the full game and those that think it has gone down the wrong path can go back to AC2 or something.

Ace Combat 6 was amazing. I can't wait for this game.

I played the demo and I liked both parts of the game, playing as a helicopter was great and the controls for it was nice and smooth and it was very easy to get the hang of and so was the Fighter jet part as well it just felt great and it also look amazing and I hope to pick it up some time soon after the release.

@crossdudu The sad part is, this is the first Ace Combat for a whole bunch of people this generation. They don't even know how bad it is.

The demo sucked, tutorial doesn't help ease you into the controls or teach you the advanced controls just pitch and yaw which anyone can figure out..... The chopper controls also sucked **** so I doubt very highly that I'd ever get the full version. the last in the Ace Combat series that I played was Ace Combat 3 and that game wasn't this bad.

I played the Demo and I really hated it. At first I liked the idea of playing with a helicopter, but the controls were very bad. And then when I started playing the jet section of the Demo, again, awful controls.

Totally wasn't expecting numbers like that. With the release of Dark Souls too, Namco-Bandai must be rolling in the dough.

I liked the demo, it would be nice to be without the extra foul language so I could enjoy it with my younger brother and cousin, but the action is intense.

Well hope it does well I enjoyed HAWX so I may pick this up at some point.
