Bungie downplays differences between current- and next-gen versions of new universe.
Gamers worried the current-generation version of Bungie's "shared-world shooter" Destiny will be inferior to its next-generation counterpart can breathe a sigh of relief. Bungie recently told fans that it will deliver the "full vision" of Destiny on all platforms.
"We've been planning for multiple hardware platforms from the very beginning, and while we can't get into the minute technical details of each console, we're fully committed to delivering our full vision for Destiny on every console we ship on," Bungie said. "Currently, that list is PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360."
Destiny is also rumored to launch for the Xbox 720, as well as the PC, Wii U, and PlayStation Vita.
Bungie announced Destiny for the PS3 and PS4 during a Sony media briefing last week. The Sony version of the game will contain platform-exclusive content, Bungie said, but this was not detailed at any great length.
Destiny is Bungie's first project as part of a 10-year publishing deal with Call of Duty company Activision. It is a first-person shooter with elements of open-world sandbox and persistent world. According to Activision, it will not be released in 2013.

So what they are saying is they are making a shoddy game so it will be available on both sides of the market fence for current and next gen consoles.

Console exclusivity sounds interesting despite of the fact that I'm sort of anti-exclusivity.
You see this is where people jump to conclusions. The vision they mean here is not the visual outcome or aesthetics kind of vision but the what the game will have in story and gameplay kind of vision. There is a difference. It does not say that the game will look the same in all the platforms current and next but rather it will have the same content so that people who play the current gen xbox/ps wont be thinking they must get the game for the next gen.

Did make me chuckle, PC gaming died out as games were being "dumbed down" for consoles and already next gen is suffering from this. Priceless
If any of what they showed at the Sony thing was actually PS4 Destiny footage, which I want to say it was, anyone who doubted the games would be very similar is an idiot. It essentially looked like PC ports do today. A little sharper, but that's about it. Maybe it'll run better. Maybe there will be fat Spiderman Font unlocks for Sony cats. Maybe there'll be a fat Spiderman quest for Sony coocoos. But expecting major differences is kinda silly.

I remember reading somewhere that Destiny would play on the 720 first, then PS4 later on. I believe it was an article on this site. Anywho, I'm more concerned with the technical aspect here. If they're making a game for these current consoles, that must mean the graphics for this game on the new consoles won't be as they should be. Hmmm...
@lifemeister I remember an article that stated that destiny would arrive on M$ platform first (didn't state which one though).... But it would be stupid to bring it out on 360 then "720".....

@uglypinkmoose they said at the PS4 event that there is going to exclusive content for PS4, but that will prob be some sort of weapon or outfit.... not extra maps

The main story arc and all important plot points will be there. Bonus missions and character skins don't necessarily change game. They add to it.

@Ledah I think they are aiming for something completely new. I read somewhere that competitive matchmaking and anything else that usually requires a lobby so that it's organized is open with no lobbies, meaning, you walk to a certain part in the world/map (like saying, if you jump over this fence, or walk past this line, it will initiate competitive multilayer, and it becomes pvp. Although it kind of sounds confusing to form parties with squad mates and make teams even if that's the case, but it would back up the claim that there will be no lobbies or main menu. They said most of the main city though is a social area, in which you can go into third person or first person, thus being able to see your customized character, play mini games with friends or randoms, (probably like gambling, and other table games), also racing with those hover bikes that handle much like the Ghost from Halo, and probably alot of other simple yet fun activities like that.

@CaptainGamespot Lets cross our fingers for a PC release. I don't really care about the new Xbox but I would prefer for it to come to them just because I don't want them to get screwed over
1 Like PS vita could be pretty amazing to have for this. I mean it's supposed to be like a real time-real world game. So people with Vita's could actually play in the moment.
But then again it's just a thought about speculation of the game. For all I know it could just be a flop idea on the Vita.... or any system for that matter. Though I don't think Bungie would do that. Theres always the possibility they make a AAA 10/10 game. but if people don't like the idea they wont play it.

Yeah. Then why is Microsoft getting a little less of the "full vision" (Sony's exclusive content) after everything MS did for Bungie since 2001? Microsoft expanded the Halo franchise beyond the games and into the popular novels, Todd McFarlane action figures and Mega Bloks sets to raise awareness for the Halo series and bring in millions of dollars. And Bungie repays the favor by ****ing Microsoft over, giving Sony bonus content and giving Microsoft nothing extra, essentially telling everyone "ignore the Xbox 360 version and get the PS3 or PS4 versions." Yeah, that's what you do to people that help you, you betray them.
They might as well not even bother making an Xbox 360 version if they don't feel Microsoft is worthy enough to make bonus content for their version.
@Maxx_the_Slash But you don't even know what this bonus content is. It might not even be that good or important.
5 Like @Maxx_the_Slash Sony just did what Microsoft has been doing nearly the entire life of the Xbox360; paying for exclusive content for their console. It is likely this is. Timed exclusive and the content will eventually show up everywhere else. Have you been fussing about this with current gen games or is it only wrong now because its not on your preferred console?
Microsoft OWNED Bungie. There were reasons why Bungie felt ey would be better off as a more indepent studio. Activision apparently is giving them that freedom.
The deal isn't about getting back at Microsoft and it sure as hell isn't about getting back at gamers. Sny offered them enough money to make it worth thief while. It's business. Simple as that.
Don't take it so seriously. The Xbox versions will still be great.
@Hvac0120 There's a difference between TIMED exclusive content and content that doesn't show up at all on the rival console. Sony specializes in snatching up permanently exclusive content. I don't know of any content that Microsoft gets that isn't sent over to the PS3 a month or two later (or longer in the case of Skyrim's DLC).
@Maxx_the_Slash @Hvac0120 your basing your opinion on assumptions and speculation. This article would more likely lead people to believe that a timed exclusive is more likely based on their vision of "same game" across all platforms.
You really shouldn't worry. The game will be great on Xbox too. Difference there is you have to pay extra to play half of the game on Xbox since online requires XBL Gold. But if you already pay for it, then that shouldn't matter to you.

2 Like @West123 @Maxx_the_Slash Bungie has absolutely no say in Halo's future. Microsoft owns it. That's part of the agreement to allow Bungie to become independent once again: Microsoft got to keep Halo.
And yes, I do own a few Halo action figures and Mega Blok sets. The figures I have hanging off of push-pins on the walls of my room, and the Mega Bloks sets collect dust on my shelves.
I'm not taking your question as an insult (because clearly you're attempting to belittle me) because I like all things Halo, not just the games. I have all but only a couple of the novels and read each one between 1 and 3 times, I have a couple Halo t-shirts, and a few other Halo-related pieces of merchandise. I legitimately love the Halo series and it's backstory. Your insults mean precisely **** to me.

2 Like @Maxx_the_Slash We have no idea whether or not the Microsoft versions of Destiny will have exclusive content. It is possible to provide unique content to both. Judging by past history this may well just be cosmetic stuff anyway.
2 Like @Aelina @Maxx_the_Slash If they were going to give Microsoft bonus content, they wouldn't have shown Destiny during Sony's press event, they would have done it at a neutral event like E3 and announce what each version is getting, not telling people what Sony is getting and then taking a steaming dump on Microsoft.
The point I tried to make is that it's not "the FULL vision for all versions of the game" if Sony's version get's a little more than what Microsoft gets. Clearly not all versions are going to get that full vision Bungie just said they would.
Ubisoft screwed Microsoft this same way too. They showed off the first Assassin's Creed game in Microsoft's E3 press conference back in 2007, but there was no content exclusive to any version, so it was okay and fair. Next year, despite favoring the Xbox 360 version of the first game the previous year, it was all Sony, Sony, Sony, Sony, Sony. Sony got all the bonus content, and Microsoft had no unique content of their own, none whatsoever. Sony got bonus weapons, bonus missions, and even a free copy of a previous game, none of which were offered to Xbox 360 gamers.
And Bungie is following Ubisoft's example too, otherwise they would have said something by now. Or they would have shown the game off at a neutral event, or even their own event.
@Maxx_the_Slash@AelinaYou need to settle down. The full vision of Destiny more than likely means feature parity, not necessarily content. Are you honestly surprised that PS3 gets bonuses? Bungie has very few fans on that platform. Exclusive content is how you draw more people in. That's also why they chose to promote themselves so heavily at Sony's conference. They need to establish a fan base. They don't have some personal vendetta against Microsoft or Xbox.
3 Like @Maxx_the_Slash @Aelina Call of Duty has regularly appeared in the Microsoft E3 event, and there are absolutely no differences between console versions of CoD. Destiny only appeared on the PS4 announcement because it is a huge game. Sony just wanted to use Destiny to promote their console. I guarantee Destiny will appear in the xbox 720 event. I also guarantee that any exclusive content for PS3 will be minimal.
