Anarchy Reigns delayed until 2012
Forces of order remain in charge a while longer as Sega pushes Platinum Games' third-person brawler to January in North America and Japan.
Gamers wishing to bust some heads with either MadWorld's Jack Cayman or the Black Baron in Platinum Games' latest will need to wait a little longer. According to updates on Anarchy Reign's Japanese and North American websites, the game is now slated for a January 2012 release date instead of its original third quarter 2011 time frame.
In addition to the release windows for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of the game, the North American site lists Anarchy Reigns as receiving a PlayStation Network release in January. If the listing is accurate, that will mark the first time a Platinum Games title has debuted on a downloadable game service in close proximity to its retail release.
Anarchy Reigns is a third-person action brawler set in a postapocalyptic warzone filled with tsunamis, black holes, and all sorts of hazards. Players get to duke it out online using existing characters from the studio's previous title MadWorld, as well as a few other original characters.
[UPDATE]: A Sega representative responded to GameSpot's request for clarification on the PlayStation Network release date. The rep said the PSN listing was referring only to the game's online functions, adding, "[Anarchy Reigns] won't be released as a digital title."
