Rovio's new game out Sept. 27 for iOS, Android, and Mac has users playing as the pigs with new gameplay that does not involve slingshots.
Ever wondered what Angry Birds would be like from the pigs' perspective? Gamers will have the chance to find out later this month when Bad Piggies comes to iOS, Android, and Mac on September 27.
There are no slingshots to be found in Bad Piggies, with the game instead offering something "innovative" and new. According to executive vice president of games at Rovio Petri Järvilehto, the game will reveal what is happening inside the minds of the pigs.
Bad Piggies will need to perform mightily if it wants to capture the success of Angry Birds. That game has been downloaded over 1 billion times, spawning a sequel--Angry Birds Space--as well as a partnership with Grammy-winning rock band Green Day.
Bad Piggies will launch sometime later for Windows Phone, Windows 8, and PC.
If I'd known in 1999 that THIS would be news over a decade later... Well I'm not sure what I'd do...
I'm not a fan of bits and pieces of news too.... seems like a ploy to make ppl click on more pages to get the same amount of info that was contained in one page before...
Just so you guys know, I'm not a fan of the new gs news. Reason being, I like my news in one place. A round up if you will. I like that you are experimenting with new things but if I tune into the news on TV I don't want to have to change channel 10 times to see each headline. I just want to put it on and watch. Clicking another link each time I want to see another report is not as good as before. Please think about changing it back. TA! X
Bad piggie makes sweet sweet love with a spider and...
Does whatever a SPIDER PIG does
Can he swing
From a web
No he can`t
He is a SPIDER PIG!!
So Rovio is just gonna milk the Angry Birds Franchise for the next 2 million years before coming up with something new?
@KingofCabal Did you not read the artical? "offering something "innovative" and new" and also if it's making them such a large amount of money why wouldn't they milk it? after all they are a business...
@mantheash I Wasn't saying that they weren't doing anything "innovative" or "new" Just that they Keep milking the same franchise over and over and arent coming up with anything original. Did you not read my comment?
Fine I'll say theyre not doing anything innovative and new. No quotes. Is your head caved in?? Because the article said it its true?? Apparently youve been wondering what Angry Birds is like from the pigs' perspective. DID YOU NOT READ THE ARTICLE??? :|
@mantheash Dude you need to learn how to read behind the lines. How does creating a new game based an already existing Franchise qualify as creating something new? Also I did not say that they were doing bad work but just that they are not being "Innovative" Orginality comes from something based on new intellectual work, not simply compying and altering your previous work.
@KingofCabal I did read your comment hence why I commented... and did you read your comment? "2 million years before coming up with something new?"
@KingofCabal make that till the reapers or the cosmic owl come for us, which will be in 10000000000000000 billion years.
OOOOO......MMMMMMGGGGGGG I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEE the pigs. SO excited. UGH!!!! Take my money Rovio, just take it. I'm officially in love.
Please Rovio, be innovative with Bad Piggies, because the gameplay of Angry Birds has already been done before you copied it.
The saddest part about Angry Birds is that they are almost as popular among kids as Mario. Hopefully it won't stay that way, I don't really like the games that much.
Hmm, maybe gameplay involves dropping pigs from the sky? I suppose it would go well with the whole notion of "when pigs fly." Ehh.
Oh yeah, and "blah blah blah casual games ruining gaming even though they're a completely different genre and aimed at a different audience."
This will be a multi million hit just like angry birds.
The Xbox 360 is the BEST console EVER made. --John Carmack
@buying1999 The millions it will sell will be on smartphones, not Xbox 360's, you moron. What next, you're gonna comment on a Diablo or World of Warcraft page?
@buying1999 It just isn't.
@buying1999 How is "The Xbox 360 is the BEST console EVER made" even relevant to the topic at hand?
I wonder whether Bad Piggies would have the great success as Angry Birds, a game that took me by surprise.
Excellent. It's the anticipated Episode V "The Revenge of the Pigs" starring Puke Pigwalker and Fart Hater..
...Really? I know for a fact that social game players don't usually have the same cognition as most of who us who grew with a "core" approach to most games, but trying to create a story around that universe is just insulting. This attempt at creating a cohesive universe will make Mario look like Shakespeare.
People get upset because a simple game was this successful. It is scary to gamers who prefer deep and complex gameplay over shallow and simplistic gameplay. There is the worry that publishers and developers will stop producing the AAA experiences we know now and start focusing more on the casual cash cows.
I don't think it's anything to worry about. If the industry shifted that way; people would soon realize there is only room for a few breakout successes like Angry Birds and there's not enough money to go around and the industry would quickly realign itself.
A bigger worry is how AAA games will incorporate user-friendiness into them. Difficulty levels are the current standard. As games move forward we have more input options for controlling the game and that opens more ways developers can make games more accessible. The concern over this is whether developers will sacrafice complex controls for simplistic controls or will they simply alter the complexity through a combination of Difficulty and Control options? Then if you have a motion control option, do you have more than one so you can have complex motion controls (e.g. controller + motion) and simplistic motion controls (e.g. Kinect control only).
I like Angry Birds. I don't play it often, but it's a great game to play when I have only a few minutes and my phone or tablet is what I have on me. I'm looking forward to Bad Piggies because (after Angry Birds Space) I think Rovio has some good ideas for casual games. Let's just hope the micro-transactions don't ruin the experience.
@Hvac0120 I agree. Any developer who tries to emulate the success of Angry Birds is bound to fail. Rovio struck gold by having the right game, right style, right controlls, all at the right time. It was super addicting and super-succesful. Can't fault people for catching lightning in a bottle.
They announced this in 2010. I am glad they are finally getting around to this because it seems interesting!
Cool sounds interesting, even though they've told us next to nothing about gameplay, can't see it being a big hit like angry birds though.
