Arkham City, L.A. Noire lead BAFTA nominations

Dark Souls requires such great strategy! Changed my life!

Nolan North did a lot more than just Nathan Drake last year (he was also Desmond in ACR and the Penguin in Arkham City - and those are just the games I played, heard he was also in Portal 2, among others). Is it just that his nomination is for his performance as Drake?

I'm not glad to see cod upthere, even bafta should knw they r doing same thing over & over & over again.

I think Arkham City will win because It's made by British people and It absolutely deserves to win.

Heres an idea, why don't game devs make a Batman game with elements from LA Noire where you use your detective skills to find and solve cases using the Batcomputer at the Batcave and take the Batmovile and travel to different parts of Gotham City or respond to the bat signal and on and on and on.

I thought it was strange to see Deus Ex in the Strategy category, but it makes sense if you go by Bafta's definition. Like a commenter at the Bafta page said, where is The Witcher 2? It was hailed as a masterpiece, reviewers saying that they outshined Bioware.

Skyrim will probably get it, I bet the majority of people who play FIFA don't even know about this.

i got no clue why la noire should get any award.... it has huge graphical bugs, i actually had to turn of the game several times cause i got stuck all females look alike the story got loopholes and u stop caring after a while and yes i finished it and got back to it trying to like it and played some dlc and my verdict is still the same - bad game, i can agree to that it captures the atmosphere of a postwar racist wifebeating place as it was at that time very well though the list looks very typical western games... but ill go with portal 2 out of them - excellent game and i hope wheatly wins the voice - even though i like the voice of nate too

Glad to see Deus Ex getting some props. I love that game.

Since it came out I've been cheerleading Dark Souls to win everything and get all the girls. I just found it a misanthropic brutal and unforgiving piece of art. I concede there may be something wrong with me then to enjoy it as much as I do... Agree with Dead Space 2. Woefully neglected gem.

@ZOD777 FIFA won't win due to the people that play it aren't normally that big on gaming and probally don't even know BAFTA has awards for games It'll be skyrim without a doubt (although personally would love batman to win mark hamill for the voice actors award!!!!)

Skyrim, Portal 2, and Dark Souls were my favs from last year. Also is there no best graphics nominations? I didn't really like crysis 2 but the game was beautiful.

I think this fan vote is going to be between FIFA12, Skyrim, and Batman AC. FIFA12 mainly because soccer is huge in Great Britain, and the other 2 are obvious choices. Portal 2 does really well with critics, but I don't think it has the fan base to oust the others. Zelda has it's fans, but being single platform doesn't help its' cause, and LA Noire just wasn't popular enough.

So happy LA Noire got nominated. Such a good atmospheric game. It could have had some side missions or something but the story was great along with the great voice acting and the Motion Scan.

LA Noire sucked. It was a horrid, horrid game.

Although a great game I found Uncharted 3 a little disappointing as I was expecting more. I actually think Uncharted 2 was better. Best game last year for me has to be Arkham City. Was slick and lots of fun.

@ NightLord47 Rockstar only published it. Team Bondi were the ones who actually developed the game. Rockstar's name is just stuck on there to sell more copies.

LA Noire was a huge step backwards for the otherwise great Rockstar Games. Only prize it should win is for biggest disappointing.

I'm not saying the games that were nominated aren't great, but there was a serious lack of Dead Space 2. It's nice to see it nominated for sound at least.
