Ubisoft's sextuple-platinum action-adventure will come to Windows in less than two months at $60, $65 price points; full spec list inside.
PC gamers eager to play Assassin's Creed II won't have much longer to wait. Ubisoft today announced that the game will ship for Windows systems on March 16, four months after it debuted on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The M for Mature-rated title will be available for a more-expensive-than-usual $59.99, but it will include extra content such as the Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities add-ons. A digital-delivery-only "Black Edition" will run for $64.99 and will include even more content that has not been specified.
Having sold 1.6 million units globally during its first week, Assassin's Creed II has now achieved worldwide sales of 6 million units. It follows a new protagonist, Ezio, who teams up with the likes of Leonardo da Vinci during the Renaissance in Italy, which was then dominated by the unscrupulous de Medici family. Why the hell is US getting a MArch 16th release while UK gets a March 5 release and Australia a March 4??
@captainoflust , why is that ? I have a Q6600 , and it's awesome. 4 Cores ( Each is 2.4 GHz = 9.6 ) , i bought like a year and a half ago , and it's still awesome , even if you compare it to today's processors , it's still a good processor and this game requires an E6700
I was considering giving this game a try. Seems since MW2 screwed everyone for $60 + now Creed 2 wants in on the action. No thanks!
@Allerletzt its not a big deal really. Just buy it off of Amazon or Newegg. It'll cut the price by $10 or so. I got AC2 for the ps3 for $40 Brand-New on ebay. You can probably just wait for the price to go down but the game is worth playing.
I was going to say I wouldn't even pay that for the game, but if it's including pay-for DLC then it's understandable, but forcing people to pay for DLC is lame anyway just for the game. I haven't even bought MW2 because it's 60. There's currently ONE game that's over 50 for PC and I refuse to pay more than that for any game, no matter how much content. The game shouldn't be more than 50 no matter how they package or what they throw in it. It's just a glorified, more expensive GOTYE or CE.
Was I asleep when the standard PC game price jumped to 60? Maybe that's for the privilege of HAVING a PC version. Oh boy. I hope Tetris HD comes to the PC soon enough.
So Activision (MW2) and Ubisoft (AC2) are pricing their games for PC really above average, you mean $10. I'll just gonna buy something more efficient than this, or i'll rather pirate just to put my stress out.
look UBI u r losing potential consumers and they will surely give in to piracy...recruit me as your Marketing Head..lol..view the consumers from their shoes..
lol what ? i waited so long for console-priced PC port ? no thanks i'll pass and save my money for a better game.
$60 eh. Guess that throws this on my do-not-buy list just like MW2. Not that it really matters because this one is going to be a terrible unoptimized port with idiotic controls just like the first one was for PC.
to anyone that says "is only $10 more" do you really think that its going to stop there? to think that it will would be completely naive. i see this 2 ways. 1. if its a single player only game you will get the same experience at $5 as you would $60. hell it might be better because its been out long enough to get a patch or 2. and 2. if its a multiplayer game. then when the game drops in price and no one is still playing multiplayer then it must have not been that good in the first place. the last thing they want is an educated consumer, then you might not buy what they are selling . oh and BTW that last statement goes across the board PC,360,PS3 or anything else you buy from TVs to Food.
I guess the DLCs maybe kinda sorta make it a good deal, but I'm going to wait for a sale. It will drop to around $40 sooner or later.
Haha, the headline for this title is so lame. Really, was that the best they could come up with? When you can't come up with anything better than this, just go with the formal headliner. I don't see why they feel the need to constantly try to spread some gimmick onto every article due to release dates. But that's cool. Good for AC2.
@vortex_gw I consider map packs and character skins to be DLC. If something is released that expands the single player game, it's an expansion. Assassins Creed 2 is cheaper on PC. If you don't care about the expansions, that's unfortunate. However, it is still cheaper on PC.
Screw it, defo getting a console once i graduate. Prob PS3. @vortex_gw completely agree with you, the game shouldn't be 4 months late and more expensive. Why? it's late! Would you pay anyone for a service or product delivered FOUR months late?
@ x-2tha-z Because PC games have always been cheaper and we get the game 4 months later! Not to mention that the two DLCs--not expansions-- were cut out of the game so that they can be DLCs and I don't care about them neither most players who have already finished the game. Those DLCs will be mediocre at best so... I hate that when a game sells so much units the devs start pulling all kinds of ****. They think gamers are idiots... no we aren't. P.S. - Steam weekend sale ftw!
Why are people complaining about the price? Sounds like PC gamers are getting a good deal. You're getting the game and expansions for $60. Every new console game is $60. Console gamers spent $60 on AC2 and they'll have to spend about another $30 for the two expansions.
Yeah, Ubisoft is making me angry. The people I know who play games pirate their games and I look like an idiot for buying the games I want to play. It seems Ubisoft wants to loose even more legit buyers like me on the PC. Nah, I won't be buying nor playing it when it comes out, I'll wait for a cheap Steam sale... I didn't like the first so... I can wait. Man, I hope they don't do the same with Splinter Cell because I will be buying it for sure even if it's 60$. But, MAN!, if they do that I will be writing some angry letters.
haha $60 f that. i may get it off steam when its 5 bucks now. i can wait tell xmas 2010. if i get it at all.
" will be available for a more-expensive-than-Usual $59.99" I thought we usually pay $ 49.95. Looks like someone in ubisoft forgot that they are selling this for PC.
@rideru For some users (out there :) ) many still playing classic games (StarCraft"1999" Diablo"2000" Baldur's Gate"1998" Planescape Torment "1999") & for me, I might be able to play-PC games from 1997 until Present (2010) with good quality setting with my PC. Consoles can't do that,, since the last 11 years. my friends have PS2 & now what, they can't play PS2 games with their brand new PS3, well just like 360 did, "ALL" Consoles did. :)
Finally! I was wondering how long I would have to wait... I hope the new additions to the game are worth the waiting. Fortunately I will not wait a year like in Force Unleashed!
I'm starting to see a price trend on the PC. One I am actually ok with. If higher pricing is what brings more games to the PC platform again I am for it, so long as the games are not butchered. A la Modern Warfare 2. A $5 increase (as opposed the current $10), and having games ready at the same time the console version hits the market are key factors in generating more cashflow in my opinion.
nightshade_nova is correct. While I've seen less piracy for Xbox 360, it's far worse in terms of scale. And who cares about 10 extra dollars. If the game is worth it i'll pay it.
@pharomarc no piracy for console? amazing how ignorant some ppl can be... wii and xbox360 both are plagued by piracy the games even available to be downloaded and burn before they hit the market, for some cases for games like avatar, rouge warrior and darksiders.
PC games are suppose to be around 10 bucks cheaper because the publishers are not paying the royalty fee to MS and/or Sony. There is no question that pirated versions of games are much easier to get and use on PCs, that is not to say there is no piracy on console, it is just easier on PCs. regardless it is still weird to me how developers expect games to sell well on PCs despite being over priced, months late, and probably full of bugs and not optimized for PC.
A High End PC can maximize this game's graphics to places unreachable by a PS3 or 360. That alone is worth the wait for some.
lol they get to play after console players have completed it and moved on. oh well, better late then never.
What? 60$? 4 months after the other versions and 60$ on the PC? Ubisoft are you kidding me? I bought the COLLECTORS EDITION of Mass Effect 2 for the PC for 50$! There will be blood if you do some **** like that with the new PoP game!
Great. Good for PC users. I would have bought it for my pc but sadly, it lacks the power for play 2009 games onwards. Need to upgrade it sooner or later.
Well, im really grateful towards Ubisoft that they still release this game to the PC, so that PC gamers like me will be able to enjoy this awesome title Thanks!
it's sad that we still have to wait.. i was hoping for it to release in feb. but i am also happy that it's releasing on my birthday.. THE 16th march :)
