AU Shippin' Out June 10-13: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Two big console exclusives released on the same day.
Ever since its teaser announcement in 2005, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has been the diamond in the rough for Sony fans. Not only has its exclusivity been the topic of much debate, but Atari--the game's Australian distributor--also neglected to confirm that the initial global release date of June 12 would cover our region until a few weeks after the original announcement. MGS4 follows Solid Snake's final mission as he tries to stop Liquid/Revolver Ocelot from taking control of a massive mercenary army and figuring out the truth behind the Patriots. A variety of old characters return and Hideo Kojima has promised that the game will wrap up any questions players have from previous games in the series. MGS4 also comes bundled with the Metal Gear Online starter pack and supports up to 16 players in competitive mode. From there, Konami will release DLC bundles, including maps, for players to download and play. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be available for A$119.95 ($113.78) game only or for A$749.95 ($711.39) bundled with a 40GB PlayStation 3 console and a Sixaxis controller. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots comes out this Thursday exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
Amidst much controversy, Itagaki-san's final game for Temco, Ninja Gaiden II, will be making its way to retail this week. The game sees you take on the role of Ryu Hayabusa as he hacks and slashes his way through such real-world locations as Tokyo, New York, and Venice, as well as fictional locales, such as Lifeblood Shrine. One of the most noticeable additions to NGII is the gore factor. Ryu can now decapitate the limbs of his enemies, and while dismembering a limb may not kill them, it will weaken their attacks. Ninja Gaiden II is the first game in the series to be published by Microsoft and comes out on the Xbox 360 this Thursday.

doh! After some researching, this is European release dates. still July 8th for us in the good ol' US of A.
I am waiting in eager anticipation. MGS4 should blow the doors off Ninja Gaiden, but I am kind of partial to the MGS series.
elreddiablo, there's plenty of gameplay in the MGS games. and you don't have to be a ps3/sony fanboy to like the MGS series, either.
I grew up with bith games on the NES, and even then, Metal Gear has been the best to me. =)

MGS4 is obviously a must! Can't wait til Thursday! (Agh, I work ALL DAY!) Anyways, I thought Civilization Revolution comes out in July!? If so, I will be upset because I don't want to juggle between MGS and Civ Rev. Also to quote "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be available for A$119.95 ($113.78)" -- I am NOT paying $115.00 for Metal Gear, haha!

Civ Revolution... once it got canned from the Wii that was just one more reason to go get a big boy system. though the graphics look a little too Wii like.
I know i will get mgs 4 but im not sure about okami or NG2, then again it all depends on how much time and money i have lol
I'll be getting MGS4 and NGII no matter what people say. It would be nice to have the Wii version of Okami but I already have the PS2 version.
MGS4 is looking awesome, and since I finished all the other MGS games, I'll finish this one too (the answer to everything). Ninja Gaiden games are cool but too hard and that removes a lot of the fun, so I'll pass on ninja gaiden 2. I really hated the grid demo, but it's maybe because I only like sim racing, like Gran Turismo. Civ Revolution is really really really great. I played the demo for more than an hour. Man, and this was just the demo, lol. Okami was great and looks great on the wii too, but I don't own a wii. The two other games looks mediocre, so I won't even talk about them. Anyway, Viva MGS4 and civ revo! :D
