Axl Rose loses Guitar Hero suit - Report

@dlCHIEF58 @feleas Oh no, I'm talking about the lawsuit where the Starcraft 2 player made a World of Starcraft custom map and Activision slapped down copyright issues over it with how it was too much like World of Warcraft apparently. Blizzard defended that individual and the case didn't fall through.

Never said they were innocent as I stated that the majority of the cases filed against them were done so with just cause. The Double Fine/EA suit was a stupid cash grab as they gave up the rights to publishing the game then were butthurt when EA stepped up to publish it. 

Regarding the Starcraft II incident, are you referring to the 3 hackers that Blizzard sued for selling and distributing tools to circumvent Battle.net? If so, you have your facts all screwed up. Blizzard were the ones who brought suit, not Activision - Kotick had no part in this. It was also dropped for some unknown reason. And this suit was justified as those hackers deserved to get the pants sued off of them, especially when they were trying to profit from it at Blizzard's expense. 

And those two examples hardly represents a "lawsuit crusade". But Activision has spent a lot of time in court recently, which does not speak well of how they treat their partners or employees.

Yes they did, it just got ruined by all the other crap filler Activision stuck in there and Eddie's hubris that would not let them put in any Sammy era songs in the game (or Michael Anthony's likeness even for pete's sake).

Guns N Roses had about 3-4 hits that weren't covers. Van Halen had a couple albums that almost all the songs on them were hits (and admittedly some of them were also covers, but at least they didn't suck like GNR).  .

Just broaden your horizons.  Most of my tastes lie in the 60s 70s and 80s(embarrassingly).  Because of my father I also listen to a considerable amount of music from the 30s and 40s.  If you only listen to old music there is no way to broaden your tastes.  It doesn't matter how brilliant you think the music is.  Even if it is Bach.  At some point it is just obsessive compulsive ruminations.  

As an example, I have listened to Pink Floyd Animals, so many times, I have a hard time listening to it anymore.  The enjoyment has diminished over time, like watching a movie or playing a video game too many times.  But we're not all the same.  One man's ceiling is another man's floor.  So I guess we're different because you  wouldn't get a little tired of playing your favorite video games every day for 30 years without adding any new ones.

@gatsbythepig @Bolduk - Thats bull.  Like saying you can't be a true music fan if you only enjoy music from the 17th to the late 19th century like quite a lot of people do.  There's something to discover in music you have listened to 1000 times.  Don't talk crap about having to "get with the times".  Nonsense.

@BoldukAre you telling me you wouldn't get a little tired of playing your favorite video games every day for 30 years?  I have no qualms with loving older music but come on, you can't just live in the past, it gets boring, because nothing new ever happens.  Plus, you can't be a real connoisseur of music unless you attempt to broaden your horizon with more, different and newer ever evolving music.

Rock bands of the 60s to 80s era are far far far better the the trash we are getting these days with Modern rock. No offense to them, bacause I have to admit I love a couple of them myself, but back in the good old days, there was more than just one hit song on an album that warranted its purchase. Led Zep, Queen, AC/DC, ect 's albums are masterpieces and best ofs by themselves.

@JimmeyBurrowsGash's name, his Dr. Seuss hat and the fact he is in GnR is why I can't stand him(maybe not the best reasons, except for the last one).  Maybe your'e right, maybe he has talent.  It's just so hard to look past that other nonsense. At least we can agree on Axl.  I don't think he could ever sing.  His voice is so grating.

@20years @gatsbythepig @JimmeyBurrows Those are great too, but after 30 years, it gets old.  I'm actually looking at an Iron Maiden album cover right now.  I just couldn't stand GnR.  Phish, U2, GnR were all anyone played for like 4 years.
