well well, my 300 dollar pc looks much better than a 300 dollar wii u now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjXGXfc3rbY
DICE reportedly shelved Wii U Battlefield 3 over Origin dispute with Nintendo; it's now reportedly working on a "straight port" of Battlefield 4 for the Wii U.
Despite DICE's encouraging comments last year on the potential of the Wii U, the Battlefield developer has reportedly stopped work on a version of Battlefield 3 for Nintendo's console.
According to Wii U Daily, which cites an anonymous source, EA and DICE began work on a Wii U version of Battlefield 3, but stopped late last year, due to a "feud" with Nintendo over Origin's integration on the Wii U.
The site reported that the development team from the shelved project was merged into the team working on Battlefield 4, which is reportedly working on a "straight port" of the game for the Wii U, featuring touchscreen controls.
The site's source also reportedly told Wii U Daily that it remains unknown whether DICE is working on next-gen versions of Battlefield 4.
Last month, EA confirmed that it is working on Battlefield 4, and that a beta for the game will take place in late 2013. Gamers can secure a spot in the beta by pre-ordering Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which is set to debut in October.
GameSpot contacted EA for comment. The publisher replied:
"This is an old rumour. Battlefield 3 is available for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The exclusive Battlefield 4 beta will be available in [...] 2013. Additional details regarding Battlefield 4 will be revealed at a later date."
Hey guys I need your friend codes ahead of time so I can play Battlefield 4 on the Wii U with you when it comes out.
Well Battefield 3 has already been out for a while, so its no real big loss for either Nintendo or EA. Battlefield 4 coming to the Wii U as well as the other consoles is more important.
Hopefully they don't do something Stupid and dumb down the game like they had to do for so many other titles on the Wii...
That's too bad. I was so waiting for this. Imagine being able to swipe the touchpad to make the bullets bend and hit your opponent behind cover. That way people wouldn't complain because its part of the gameplay now.
I think it's better that they're developing Battlefield 4 on Wii U instead of BF3. Who would buy a year old game on a new console just for touchscreen controls anyway? Then again, it wouldn't surprise me entirely....
In my opinion, it is okay that Nintendo did not have Battlefield 3 as part of their video game library, because it is the first bad Battlefield video game after Battlefield: Bad Comapny 2 that Dice will go completely downhill with Battlefield 4 and later video games that are part of the Battlefield series just like Call of Duty series after Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
"due to a "feud" with Nintendo over Origin's integration on the Wii U." Beater to have no EA support than have Origin on the Wii U.
Now Nintendo.... how 'bout signing with Valve to get Steam on wii-u and port Half Life 3? That's what I'm talkin about.
@moviequest14 Half Life 3 on Wii U sounds like a good idea but Steam on Wii U sounds like a bad idea.
@Yulaw2000 How so? I would kill to have access to my steam games on wii-u , not to mention the massive sales , Valve games , bundles , etc. if by some witchcraft Nintendo could do what no other hardware company's done and hold Newell's interest for more than 9 months and they got Steam fully functioning on the system.... on top of Nintendo first parties , it would put the wii to shame in sales.
@moviequest14 "I would kill to have access to my steam games on wii-u" That's not a likely outcome as all the games would have to be adapted to run on Wii U and have to pass Nintendo "QA" "massive sales" Nintendo would not allow that as it would cut into their game's revenue "Valve games" No need for steam in order to port games. If Steam was on consoles it would be used as a form of DRM.
@moviequest14 If the Wii U is even capable of running Half Life 3.....
Good , I'm glad Nintendo didn't give in and put EA's crappy Origin's on the system. For that matter I couldn't care less if Battlefield (either one to be honest) ever comes to the system at all. War shooters over-stayed their welcome (in my opinion) after about the 15'th game.
i think that now, in this console generation that online gaming is the key to a system's longevity. if nintendo fails on online stuff like they did with the wii, this system will be dead in the water. is the wii u looking pretty cool? yeah. we know that they are trying to actually make their online service more accessible than on the wii, but being a battlefield fan, them missing this title at launch will not be a bad thing. it gives activision a huge step on a new system to make the wii u the console to play call of duty modern future warfare 9 on. unfortunately this feud will damage EA on the wii u because when modern future warfare comes out in 2013, it will be a system seller, battlefield on the wii u will be a distant memory. ugh.
Aside from the little icon in my taskbar, Origin hasn't affected my BF3 experience at all. Battlelog on the other hand...
Who cares about a Wii U port though, Battlefield 3 is a PC game at heart. If you want to play it the way it's meant to be played, you do it on a PC.
Better graphics, 64 players at once, and NO analog stick with auto-aim. Mouse+Keyboard.
Because of Origin, the service that everybody hates? Good job, EA. Nintendo will be just fine without you, but you could've had some free sales.
EA is still getting Origin on there. Did you not read the part about BF4 coming to Wii U? That will use Origin if EA is alive & kicking. Development time & optimizing for a different platform is nowhere close to free, btw.
Nintendo: "We hate the stupid Origin engine, were not using it!EA: "Fine, will just give you are next gen game instead of a year old port!Good comeback EA. You really showed Nintendo what was what.
poor DICE... they used to create Battlefield with passion, vision and charisma, now they are just swedish lap dogs for EA on COD buisness term.
I dont really think its good that the wii u keeps focasing on getting ports for games that everyone already has granted I know they will probably be slightly different but ... anyways i gotta hand it to nintendo love it or hate it they have been all over the news ever since the confirmation of the new console...
ah' well. at least this article has proved to remind me that I do actually have quite a taste for a few good rounds tonight now if nothing else. ... I Think I'll bother a few servers!
LMAO, I like how the Wii U is just getting a buncha recycled games on their launch date. kinda ridiculous.
@Codester_41 Oh I know! Assassin's Creed III , ZombiU , Rayman Legends , Lego City Undercover , Aliens Colonial Marines! So many late and recycled games!
like PS3 & 360 don't recyle games? Lately most PS3 sales come from PS2 HD remakes lol.
@Codester_41 Did you read the article bf3 is not coming. And bf4 is next year. How is that a launch title?
@WllDan7 Buddy, I'm not talking about battlefield, but they were mentioning that they were going to release it on Wii U but then decided not to. There are Many games coming out on Wii U that are just getting re-done for it.
@Nintyfan95 Back then, I think EA was on the shiny happy bandwagon that most developers are on with the Wii U. They forget that it's controlled by Nintendo, one of the most controlling console makers. As much as Nintendo is known for forward-thinking progress, they are absolute die-hard about controlling who and what makes it into their world. Odds are, we can expect to see a few more defections from "Wii-U" versions of games. I doubt everyone will jump ship, but probably Ubisoft and maybe WBIE. They're the two who still have enough independence to really 180 on the Wii-U without alienating their fan-base.
So. It begins.Going straight to BF4 for Wii U, eh? BF3 still being supported my foot. You wait- we get anywhere near BF4 and BF3 support will fall off the face of the Earth. It's just the EA way.
Wii u don't need more one year old games at launch. It would make more sense if EA were to release the upcoming Medal of Honor.
