Since-removed listing on EA Origin online store reveals preorders for Medal of Honor: Warfighter grant access to Battlefield 4 beta.
A fourth entry in the core Battlefield shooter series is on the way, it appears. A listing on Electronic Arts' Origin online store (which has since been removed, but not before being captured by VG247) indicates those who preorder Danger Close's forthcoming Medal of Honor Warfighter will receive access to a Battlefield 4 beta.
Sound familiar? EA held a similar promotion with the predecessors in both franchises, offering those who preordered the original 2010 Medal of Honor reboot access to the Battlefield 3 beta.
As of press time, EA had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
The existence of Battlefield 4 comes as little surprise. Battlefield 3 arrived in October 2011 to a warm critical reception and shipments of 15 million units. Additionally, EA Labels president Frank Gibeau said in November "there is going to be a Battlefield 4."
Battlefield 4 may not be the only new franchise entry in the works. A report from May suggested series developer DICE was at work on a new entry in the spinoff series, Battlefield: Bad Company 3.
EA again. why i am not surprised? They put they grabby paws in everything good. I will never install origin on my machine, or pay in euros when in can pay in dollars on steam. RIP Battlefield.
BF4 better have 64 players for console this time. Really you would think they would wait for BF4 for the next gen consoles with obviously a port for the current gen.
The problem is that you have a playerbase with 10 million people and you need to keep them with some fresh content at least every 6/4 months, BF4 in 2013 is a logical step, anyways after some problems with BF3 i think all the people are going PC this time.
@alenth lol 10 millions is old, now more than 15 million
@alenth I'm not so sure, all the cheating on the PC version ruined it for me. Stopped playing after a month and have never gone back. I'll wait to see if DICE build it for the consoles and port to the PC, if they do it will be no better than BF3
They still have several expansions lined up for BF3. Devs will always be hard at work on the next game once they are don't with the current one. The sad thing is if the beta comes with MOH:WF then BF4 is probably come October/November next year which does feel too soon.
@warhawk-geeby it doesnt mean its gonna happen during this or next year. Use your head a bit.
@iluvOP I am using my head, games usually take years to produce. A beta for a sequel less than a year before the other was released? That shouts rinse & repeat to me.
I did remember reading at the time of BF3 release that they were already working on BF4, but yearly releases just ain't cool. It's a waste of investment.
@warhawk-geeby Yeah...I don't like this, they may not both have CoD in front of their names (or in this case Battlefield) but it's the same concept release main game release sub game rinse repeat.
Way to disrespect your fans DICE. You haven't even added VOIP to the PC version of BF3 ye you idiots. I won't be buying another DICE game ever again in my life. This company is disgusting.
If they don't make it for XBOX 8, then I don't want it. All of these sequels are basically "expansion packs" you spend full price for. Only when you jump from system to a next generation system do you really get what you pay for.
Thats neat. Looooooong ways to go untill BF4 though but I guess its good to have a beta key in hand eitherway. Kind of silly that they are giving such things now. But before that there will be BF:BC3, of that Im quite sure.
I hope they entirely drop the Single Player nonsense and focus on Multiplayer once again. As a long time veteran of the series I wouldn't jump on for BF4 if it is anything like what BF3 was, I'll just go elsewhere because BF3 lost a lot of the series originality and tried to imitate other successful titles way too much for my personal liking.
God yes. The campaigns in the last few BF games have been brutal. Just go back to having a bot mode DICE. You can't do campaigns.
@xXrebel666Xx pffft to veteran!!
@xXrebel666Xx Ive played every BF game in their time (not including heroes) and personally I like BF3 the best. Each one of those games have their own charm. 2142 being my least favourite, infact I quite disliked it. Singleplayer addition is pretty nice think. Lost its originality? I dont really think so. Its still has a very unique feeling compared to other games. Hard to ruin that feeling really. Only 2142 managed to do that with its stupid future stuff.
@iluvOP "still very unique" ? How is it very unique?, 1942/2142 were VERY unique games. BF3 is just a larger scale of COD.
@TonnFool23 I rarely play either game now but BF3 is nothing like COD. Much more crazy.. Destruction, planes/helicopters/boats, and actual team focused games. The only thing similar is the fact they're FPS.
@TonnFool23 large scale of cod? Pffft to this to!!! this game is no where near how cheesy and arcadey COD feels like. So please do not compare this to COD. It has a higher value and deserves to be compared to a better game =)
@xXrebel666Xx What did it imitate from other titles? game hasnt changed much since bad company 1
Even ARMA will get bored one day.We only satisfied unless we get our hands on real weapons and vehicles.
Battlefield died when they went to console. That's when you see developers and publishers lose all self respect. Goodbye Battlefield. Hello ARMA 3.
@billlabowski Battlefield died on the PS2/Xbox era then? you people just try to be cool saying really dumb things just to try to be original....
@chechak7 They should add co-op to campaign I thinks. BC1 still has my favourite SP mode in BF games. Wouldve been a blast with one friend.
ARMA 2 (soon to be 3) Is the go to open warfare game, by miles. its not even a competition, it decimate battlefield 3 in realistic, authenticity, weaponry, sheer amount of vehicles and planes. it has boats, ships. gameplay , everything.
ARMA is the future of open warfare.
@nyran125 Yeah lets compare a simulation game with an action shooter because hating EA/Activision and playing ARMA makes us more cool.....
@nyran125 Comparing a simulation game towards a arcade shooter, jesus grow up.
@nyran125 This comparison is getting real old and silly. It really bothers me when people do that. ARMA games are really great "simulators", when I want a really intense feeling of realism and all that. It should not be compared to a game that doesnt aim to be realistic. BF games have always aimed to have a good balance of some realistic elements mixed with balance and fun factors, making it a blast to play with friends.
They should give BF: MODERN COMBAT another chance. I think the idea was brilliant but it was poorly developed. Swapping to any soldier on the battlefield was very cool and opened many possibilities for gameplay, it just had bad balance, but made for some very open ended single player gaming and added a ton of replayability. I hope they make a well designed and executed sequel and bring back that high potential IP.
It would have been nice to see a release of Bad Company 3, but this is also a pretty sweet deal. It doesn't make up for the fact that there's no Bad Company 3, but I'm stoked for this game!
Dont tell me tht installment,again,BF4????????????Shit!!!!!!!!!Devs. have forgotten to remind the history&enrichment of WW2 battle games.........COD:BOPS2&BF4,looks like days are gone for these twos...Bad decision By EA.They must plan for Mirror'sEdge2.............Everyone'll take a leap of FAITH,eagerly
Please BC3. We need a game designed around what the consoles are capable of, and not port maps from PC to 12v12 and think it'll work. IT DOESN'T. Big maps are boring on console. BC2 maps were brilliant! BF3 maps are poor for the most part (on console).
