I really hope this game is as good as the first one. The first one was so good! I did not get the second one due to seeing some criticisms and also that it did not look as good.
BioWare releases Dragon Age III: Inquisition concept art

New renders for upcoming role-playing game show off sprawling environments, castle set in the mountains; players may be able to control castles in new game.
BioWare has released new concept art for Dragon Age III: Inquisition, giving gamers a first look inside the upcoming role-playing game's universe. The three shots, embedded below, show sprawling outdoor and indoor environments, as well as a castle set on a rocky mountain.
Dragon Age III: Inquisition was announced in September. The game will run on a new engine, with the team at BioWare using DICE's Frostbite 2 as a foundation. The engine will allow BioWare to build a "more expansive world" with improved visuals, more "reactivity" to player choices, and deeper customization options.
Elsewhere, BioWare shared further insight into Dragon Age III: Inquisition during a panel at the Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo this weekend. Producer Cameron Lee relayed the discussion via his Twitter feed, revealing a number of insights into the game, the first of which is that players may be able to control castles in the new game.
It was also confirmed that the main protagonist in Dragon Age III: Inquisition will be a human. Customization in the new game, spanning players and followers, is reportedly going to be "bigger" than past games. Additionally, BioWare claimed that "just one level in Dragon Age III is as big as all of Dragon Age II's levels."
Dragon Age III: Inquisition is due during late 2013, the same time period analysts believe next-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony will be on store shelves.

1 Like It may not be as good as Dragon Age 1, but it can't be as bad as Dragon Age 2. So in total it could be a worthwhile package.

@GamerOuTLaWz to be honest i wouldnt trust the modern Bioware to make a Baldurs Gate 3.
They'd probably decide to use the crappy 4.0 D&D rules instead of the awesome 3.5 rules (or the 5.0 rules, which i hear are starting to look nearly as awesome as the 3.5 rules).
they'd probably have only 5-6 different places (BG 1 had several dozen, and BG 2 had an entire continent, plus several other dimensions and huge widly varied interiors etc).
and they would probably try and retcon loads of BG Lore to make it attractive and/or easy to understnad by console wasters.
@GamerOuTLaWz LOL I wont be surprised... DA2 took place in one SINGLE FRIGGIN CITY. The entire DA2 game was in bl00dy Kirkwall which had a pathetic 10-15 hotspots and THAT WAS ALL OF IT. LOL (ok so maybe there were jaunts to the deep roads and the countryside but those were the exception and pretty much copy pasted levels)
yeah, frostbite. EA may destroy Bioware soul, but will sure give them a ton of tools to do it better. Interaction among EA studios is normal. I just don't think DA3 will be anything worth while.
The engine used in Battlefield 3, and I think it was also used in Crysis 2 I'm not sure on that one
hope the combat and character customization are back to DA:O, no more Hawke character that make it just look like a clone of mass effect, and I want to play a qunari please . . .

That's really easy given the fact DA2's were tiny. I want to give them a chance, I really do, but going for bigger doesn't mean better. Also please tell me Mike Laidlaw is not involved, that'll boot my hope about 10%.
4 Like The main thing that worries me at this point is MP. EA better not require us to play MP or use stupid apps to get the best endings.
I think I will stick to playing DAO a few times more before EA's obsession with spoiling replay values in their previous franchises is taking hold of my enjoyment and my choices. One thing is for sure, I will be watching it on you tube first.
This game is sounding more promising the more I hear about it. I mean, do we really think Bioware is stupid enough to piss us off again and completely drive their name into the ground? I think not, but we will have to wait and see.
1 Like I would love to see a true sequel to DA Awakening. DA 2 was just such a disappointment. Well just have to wait and see. My confidence in Bioware delivering a good game is almost 0.

6 Like I don't care how the game looks, sounds like or any of the sort, i don't care if it's a carbon copy of BG or DAO or whatever.
The only thing i want, is for one of the developers i grew up with to prove me that they can still make a good game.
3 Like I don't really mind the whole only human thing. I mean really, did choosing your race actually effect your story at all? There were only a few conversations that changed because of your race, and the boon you can choose at the end was different. That's pretty much it.
DAO was a great game, but in an effort to bash everything Bioware does these days, people like to remember it as being better than it actually was. I mean come on, really think about it. In DAO, did your racial choice REALLY matter? Because as I recall, and I played through the game multiple times, 95% of the dialogue and interactions were exactly the same no matter what race I was.
Besides, there's an actual reason for this.
From the information we know of, you're the leader of the Inquisition, an order that was created to fight blood mages. They were later absorbed into the Chantry, an order that consists of mostly humans by the way, and became the Seekers of Truth and the Templar Order. Both orders of which are full of mostly humans.
Lets not forget that the Humans, Elves, and Dwaves do not agree on exactly who The Maker is, they even have different names for him. But the Chantry, again an order consisting of mostly humans, still considers this a Chantry matter. Remember, the beliefs about the dangers of magic are NOT shared between their religions.
Taking all of that into consideration, if you're the leader of the new Inquisition, or will be, then chances are extremely high that you're human. You people seem to believe it's all laziness on their part, but if you actually check out the lore it makes a lot more sense that you couldn't choose to be an Elf or Dwarf.
@Auriken theyre just lazy and dont want to put effort into making unique races, this game is looking to be just another dumbed down pile of poo where 1: youre forced to play as a huamn 2: youll get to chose between most probably a maximum of 4 classes (LOL) 3: there wont be any secrets/puzzles/unique awesome items or b osses to fight outside of the linearity and monotonous bore-fest this game will be and this will NEVER be close to the masterpieces BG1-2 and Dragon age: origins were. This shit is dev for consoles,casuals,appeal to the masses and a fucking joke to gamers. I can predict the future, watch it. Now lets look closely at how awesome and unique races/classes used to be in their previous games BG2; you could chose what appearance and picture you wanted your character to have and go from being a Human to a semi-elf,elf,halfling,dwarf,gnome, SEMI-ORC which all had access to different variety of classes and unique prompts through-out the game.Classes: you had 11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! friggin' classes where once you picked one you could chose between 5-6 more different sub-classes related to that class like bladedancer,Barbarian, wizard-slayer if you picked a fighter etc. that means around 40 classes to customize your character YOU COULD EVEN PICK Multi-Class mode if you were good and knew the game enough. Its about time devs pull their heads out their asses,stop focusing on frostbite 2 engines and give us the same awesome masterpieces we used to get back in the days. And whoever doesnt believe that games are becoming a fucking joke and dumbed down to appeal to the casuals with no brains well youre part of the herd

A year or so ago the BioWare head honcho was interviewed and said they needed to shake it up. Make game more open. Like Bethesda was doing with Skyrim, etc.

In a fantasy world where other races exist be they orc, troll, zombie, elf, khajiit or lizard...why the F%&$ would I want to remain a human? I can be a human everyday in real life. Convinced it's solely for the purpose of voice acting. Get a clue BW, I'll stick to DA:O i guess...
3 Like @PrplMnkyDshwsr7 A human as the playable character acts as a self-insert as it's easier to relate to, it also acts as a point of reference for how alien a setting is.
It also doesn't alienate portions of the audience who want to play as x and means less work. One can only hope that in streamlining this portion leads to a better and fuller story.
I wouldn't get my hopes up though.

Seriously though, I find it more alienating when I'm stuck with a character I can't identify with. With Origins, the variety of background storylines increases the chance that I identify more with a particular character.
6 Like @PrplMnkyDshwsr7 I agree, no one wants to be human when you could have interesting stories as some elf or dwarf, or even as darkspawn if they'd take it that route. Humans aren't interesting in fantasy games, they're these generic "hero" or "evil" stereotypes. Only time I've played human in DA:O was so that I can get achievements for completing Origin stories, nothing else. Games are supposed to be escape from reality, especially fantasy games, but BW really doesn't understand this. It would be awesome to see more closer lives of elfs or dwarves than only in Origin stories and be a part of it, not as an outsider but as an actual member.
2 Like So far, it's sounding pretty good. I'm anxious to hear more about the game, the world, and the game play.
