Call of Duty: Black Ops gets Hardened, Prestige editions
Treyarch's upcoming shooter getting $80 and $150 top-tier versions; latter includes fully operable, video-enabled RC car.
Infinity Ward bundled items like the original Call of Duty and night-vision goggles with special editions of last year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but the Los Angeles studio isn't the only development house readying top-tier bundles. Treyarch today announced Hardened and Prestige editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops, which is already projected to sell over 12 million units.
The Hardened and Prestige editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops will infiltrate retail on November 9. These top-tier versions will include a number of items that those paying $60 for the standard game won't have access to.
On top of the game, the $80 Hardened edition includes a steel-book case, a Black Ops medal with display case, four co-op maps not included in the standard ware, and a Black Ops-themed Xbox Live or PlayStation Home avatar outfit.
The $150 Prestige edition (pictured) ups the ante even further. This version includes everything above and a fully operable remote-controlled vehicle modeled after the new in-game RC-XD killstreak reward. The RC car controller houses a 2-inch video screen, which can stream video and audio from the vehicle at a distance of up to 200 feet. The announcement came coupled with a YouTube video (embedded below) detailing the in-game killstreak reward. Additionally, Nintendo Wii and DS versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops will release on November 9, but Activision did not announce any special bundles for either of those systems.
