Sony marketing manager reveals title will launch later this year on Sony's new portable.
Call of Duty for the PlayStation Vita will deploy this fall. That's according to Sony senior vice president of PlayStation brand marketing Guy Longworth, speaking to GameTrailers.
Longworth didn't go into much more detail concerning the mystery project, saying only, "We're still working on it." Activision has not named the game's developer(s), or said if the title will be a port of a past Call of Duty title or a brand-new experience.
With Call of Duty for the Vita out this fall, it will be released during the typical release window of Activision's console Call of Duty games, which have shipped between late October and mid-November every year since the franchise was launched in 2003.
In November, Activision confirmed that a new entry in the Call of Duty franchise will ship during 2012. The latest rumors suggest this title will be Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, though the publisher has not formally announced the title of the new game.
However Sony has to do something about the price of there digital copies.. because I cannot afford to blow big time money on a bunch of Vita games. Sony would make more if they decreased the price of their games. Keep the triple A Vita games at full price but they cannot jack the prices up on a lot of these games. I think 19.99 is fair for a lot of the games.
I sort of reluctantly bought a Vita but after I have owned it for a week or so I am very happy I purchased it. It really does deliver a console like experience. I don't really care about COD, I will probably buy it if its a new version but I am not really excited for it but its good for the Vita to have a main stream game like COD on the horizon.
I doubt there will a be a Vita "lite". I think they will try to make a single console just like the ps3. streamline the developers to target only 1 system. Make this system the defacto for portable gaming instead of diluting with complicated versions. Sony itself said the vita is a 10 year platform just like the ps3. Also, its really not expensive at only $250
I don't get why there's hate around the Vita.... Isn't this THE best handheld console ever?? Come on... be realistic... Next-gen graphics, everything's right about it (finally 2 analogue sticks) and just great on a technical level. So far, Sony are on the right way.... I'll consider purchasing one when the PS Vita Lite comes out (you know there'll be one for sure :P )
they should put numbers in call of duty, then the people would think twice before buying call of duty 15, good games like final fantasy put numbers, because each number makes the fans more excited instead of making them think that they are buying the same thing the 13th time :P
@AuronAXE U trying to troll me. But you can't troll me. I'm Spider-man. You can't troll Spider-man. Besides, I know you love me with all your heart. YOU CAN'T FOOL ME, DAWG!
@AuronAXE I agree but you've missed my point. In the context of handhelds, even in its current state it's still arguably be the best fps on the system and in all liklihood increase sales drastically essentially saving the Vita and the hardcore portable gaming market as a whole. I see a portable CoD for that reason, a good thing. @warhawk-geeby Thanks, I do try mate :)
@MEDzZ3RO It was good with CoD4 than went downhill. By not buying a CoD game you're essentially missing nothing, its like EA's sports games. They might as well start naming them by year. @supertom221 If you were to ask me "Would I have nothing at all or something crappy", I would say nothing at all. If it's going to be garbage than we're just wasting money.
Cant Be Any Worse Than Call of Duty: Roads to Victory Was For PSP.... -_- If This Has Online On it Like Modern Warfare 3 Does, Then I'll buy It ;)
We don't want vita to die. There killing there selves. I want the vita to make it. But everything the vita is doing is wrong.
Come on guys, why would we want VITA to die? so we only have 1 system out there? so there is no competition? so that 1 system can do what ever they like? so the word "innovative" dies? all of you are just a bunch of whiners. WHAHH it costs to much, WHAHH they should make this game, WHAHHH Why did they change it to SEN? WHAHH WHAHH WHAHH! never mind the WHAHH be happy there is competition because if there is no competition than your flagging xbox to do as they please.
@MEDzZ3RO If there was a smiley preaching on his knees I'd totally put that in this comment right now. You are spot on.
@Phil-teh-Pirate COD is not a hardcore game, it is a casual game. That is why mainly casual players play it.
@AuronAXE Auron, I AM DISSAPOINT. Yeah, because I totally want the VITA to die like the Dreamcast. NOT. Who even remembers the Dreamcast outside the few who owned it? PS2 obliterated it. YOU rather see a platform not sell at all? After all they effort they made to make handheld gaming "IN" again and not die by the hands of a smartphone?! That's pure insanity! One COD game won't kill anyone, and hardly anyone who buys a VITA will buy it JUST for COD. If anything, It'll be Monster Hunter that will make the VITA skyrocket.
They complain theres no "hardcore" games for handhelds, someone puts a "hardcore" game (admittedly quite watered down but still) onto a handheld and everyone still complains and moans. Does the Vita have to print money and constantly give you high 5's before people will give it a chance?
@Saintofwar you got the wrong company it is M$ that bribes other companies and Activision sees how great the vita is going to be diffidently for shooters and that is why they are making a cod game for the vita and not because they are being bribe to do it they are doing it because they want to just like all the other 3rd party companies
@Cronicx- If you can't wait for a Call of Duty game, you must either have the shortest attention span, you are new to video gaming, a casual gamer, or are the lowest common denominator on Earth.
I hate call of duty and everything that's behind it but this seems like it could be the only thing the VITA has going for it. If all those idiots that line up and wait in line over night for the same game they bought last year hear about this, than maybe they'll be stupid enough to buy a Vita and wait in line for this game.
I remeber a guy on the PSN forums saying an exclusive COD would sell the system... everybody said it would never happen. Wonder if he's heard the news.
you know what will be interesting about this? to see how similar they can make it to the other games. god knows they won't try to be innovative.
Jeez, you guys act like it's a bad thing. Now so many more people will invest in a Vita, which in turn will allow more companies to expand into it's territory and create more games for it. No ones forcing you to play these games, so why complain when it's going to let you enjoy the system more as far as long-term games go?
Why is this a big thing seriously. WOW The Vita will have call of duty this year big whoop. Call of duty comes out on everything so why is the Vita so different. I have a 3ds and I can assure everyone it will be on that too with decent graphics and multiplayer online. So why does only the vita get the hype for this crap.
Will be an interconnected story with one of the currents games lesser characters taking the lead role. My prediction, Ghost or Yuri's backstory. Why? Trey is working on BO2, MW3 had three devs (Raven being for DLC), MW3 had IW and sledge at the helm. Now that MW3 is out, IW is 're-established' and they're done with the MW story line (potentially), Activi$ion can get IW working on the next console CoD themselves and get Sledge to work on a handheld.
I thought you could basically choose Vita or PS3 for game going forward and play against each other, basically choosing which platform you wanted it on? This seems to prove otherwise.
