The movie is gonna rock! A great cast and crew, combined with a great script and the performances are sure to NAIL IT. I think it should be released in theaters.....but I'm not a Sony Exec., so who knows why they want to go straight to DVD.
Straight-to-DVD and Blu-ray World War II film based on THQ's game series starring Tom Sizemore and Neal McDonough arriving early next year.
The Company of Heroes movie from THQ and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will launch March 19 on DVD and Blu-ray, IGN reports. Based on the strategy game series, the film is skipping a theatrical release.
The Company of Heroes film may not have received much press, but it features a cast of Hollywood veterans. The film stars Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down), Neal McDonough (Flags Of Our Fathers, Captain America: The First Avenger), Chad Collins (Lake Placid 2, Sniper: Reloaded), and Jürgen Prochnow (The Da Vinci Code, Das Boot).
The World War II-set Company of Heroes follows a band of American soldiers lost behind enemy lines during the Battle of the Bulge. The squad discovers Hitler's plans to create a super bomb and fight their way through Nazi Germany to foil the Fuhrer's plot.
And the best role in the film, Ivan Puzharski, played by Dimitri DIatchenko, (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Chernobyl Diaries, Sons of Anarchy). Don't forget that, fuckers...LOL.
Maybe this movie will be good, maybe it won't. I'm not sure it will be as good as Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, though.
I want to praise THQ for trying, but.... i believe most of the fans will prefer all those budget went to COH2. =/
I love war movies and I definitely love the Company of Heroes games... But this movie - looks like SHIT.
Whaaaaat? Where did this come from? Oh who cares, more WW2 film goodness has be grinning from ear to ear- and just look at that cast! The whole gang's here! All they're missing is Christian Berkel, the bald German dude, for a complete set.
The squad stuck behind enemy lines sounded good- the foiling a super weapon angle... not so much. Still, the trailer looked pretty rad anyway. Let's just hope they don't do that 'halt' sign language too often.
those german tanks looked pretty strange, i dont believe i know the name for them unless they are the new weapon they were testing for the films plot
@wezkilla They're T34 (Soviet) tanks with a fake turret and some bits welded on... take a look at the front of one, and a pic of the front of a t34.. not the first time the 'wrong' tanks have been used in a movie.. 'Patton' for example used M48 'Merican tanks for the Germans.. :D
@wezkilla or it could be a modified panzer 3 with extra armour protection. During that period most of the Wehrmacht armour column were mostly outdated armour units dated upto 1939. Most of those armour were refitted to other roles, most commonly panzer 3 chassis which were used in multiple roles, one of which is Stug3
Tom Sizemore's career has really gone downhill since he did Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, etc.
Look up the movie "Ring Around the Rosie". Perhaps the most pointless movie in existence, made worse by whoever decided that Sizemore had to be in it.
Never heard of the movie until now, awesome.. been a while since any new war movies came out. Still hoping for another ww2 mini series from the makers of Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
@Rattlesnake_8 yeah me, and why now just pick it up, or rent it, its not like its going to hurt anyone, if its good then its good, if it sucks then well it sucks.
I can't tell if you are either being serious or sarcastic.

I love it how Tom Sizemore waltz around and didn't care for the bullets whizzing by in Black Hawk Dawn.
He didn't even have a weapon.
Tom Sizemore in a war movie is enough to get me to rent it. Won't be buying it though.
Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down are my two favorite movies, so I'm a bit biased :P
Random weapons??? I would hardly call Thompson Machine guns and the rifles they were using "random weapons." I do see where you get the idea that they are T-34 tanks, even though they appear to be the later T-34-85 i believe. Tanks are hard to come by and they probably used those because if they are actual Russian tanks, then they were probably easy to get as German tanks are hard to come by.
@Hobbes444 Not totally random, but I saw some Lee Enfields, what might be a G98, American with a G43 sniper, a MG08 (probably just a souped up Maxim) etc. Although the Thompson 1928 without the compensator was nice :)
And did you notice that the planes in 1:47 are just toys? I just saw it, but it's probably just for the trailer
*(for obvious reasons, German tanks are hard to come by)
More often than not, Soviet T-54/55 series tanks (being the most numerous tank in existence) are converted to look like German panzers. Saving Private Ryan's Tiger was a converted T-55. The only legitimate tank that I saw in there was the Marder III. Been a while since I saw it so I could be wrong. The SPG was a Soviet SU-series tank destroyer. I'm such a World War geek :P
This is actually a very good idea if it comes with the game in some sort of collector's or special edition or something.
But if they only intend to release it on its own... I... don't see the point...
Some of these straight to Blu-Ray/DVD movies are pretty good, but most are bad. I hope this is one of the good ones.
I usually look up the director, you'd be surprised of some neat directorial talent that just couldn't get on the big screen.
Company of Heroes didn't really have a story, it was just typical WWII battles and strategy, but maybe they can make it interesting by giving it a good twist or something.
The 'straight to DVD / Blu Ray doesn't put me off at all, alot of good films ave gone straight to DVD, I hope the director and composer are good for the film.
the story is not even any of the SP campaigns, how is this COH? ...why does it even have COH attached to it? its just a ww2 movie
