[UPDATE] Namco Bandai announces Artorias of the Abyss DLC hitting consoles in North America Oct. 23, Europe Oct. 24.
[UPDATE] Following the publication of this story, Namco Bandai confirmed that the Artorias of the Abyss DLC will arrive in North America for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 23.
The original story follows below
Console gamers will soon have new ways to die in From Software's well-received role-playing game Dark Souls. Publisher Namco Bandai announced today that the Artorias of the Abyss downloadable content will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Europe and Australasia October 24.
It was not mentioned when or if the content would arrive in North America, and a Namco Bandai representative was not immediately available to comment.
The DLC made its debut in Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, a PC-exclusive version of the game that was released in August to a warm critical reception. The content adds new dungeons and boss battles, as well as an "enhanced" online player-versus-player mode, and weapons and armor.
It appears Namco Bandai has bumped up the release date for the console release of the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, as it was originally scheduled to arrive sometime this winter. At the time, it was suggested that the content would bear a $15 price tag.

Check out http://darksouls.wikidot.com/new-game-plus for info on what you keep and what you lose when starting NG+, I know you loose the orange charred ring but you should have most rings and all your levelled weapons.
Hey can anyone tell me after you beat dark souls is there anywhere it says ng+. I beat it a few months ago and now went back to play it today because of the dlc but i can't tell if it saved, i have the trophy for the ending, and i dont have any rings such as the orange charred ring, or the covenant ring. But i dont remember reaching the undead burg after i beat the game is there any way to check in your in game menu or something. Thanks
BEST and most rewarding of all games....praise the sun...and to the DS community...feel free to friend request me on PSN (miggity106)....I had a similar question to the person below me...how far in the game do you have to be to begin the DLC??
Can't decide to start a new character or use my NG+ character for this DLC. Will it matter? Does anyone know what the requirements are? For instance, do you have to have the Lordvessel or have beatin a certain boss?.....Definatly stoked on this!!!
@Tygravius Lord Vessel has to be placed...you don't have to beat the game to access...just go to DarkRoot and save Dusk...by killing Gloem past the waterfall...then Warp to Duke Archives...as soon as u get there kill the Blue Gloem...u will receive a treasure...then go Immadeatly back to where u saved Dusk...u will see something floating..examine it...u will go to Santuary..and fight Santuary Guardian...u need high res Lighting Armor...his weakness is bleed...and he can poison you...
@Tygravius I think you can start from anywhere, and the game will optimize the DLC to your progress, and as I read you just go to Duke's Archive near the first bonfire and you kill the golem that appears there, and the rest will be fine.
Where is the US announcement, dont give a f*** about Europe and Australasia (whatever that is). This should be news either on a different website or on an international board.
I can not wait for the dlc .. I have to buy the pc version .. this game is so good, it deserves not wait .. is the best of all time .. in my opinion, of course
I haven't really noticed the difference from playing it on 360 and the PC, performance issues aside. I thought it launched the same time across platforms though
I am afraid the stupidity joke is on you. THe must have patch for the game allows to run in 1080p and beyond. actually some people ruin it much higher neraly 2000p. In addition it supports Anitaliasing now, SSAO, high resolution depth of field and other stuff i cant remember now.
What you said is not just stupid its not even true. If you do your research next time you will find out that the console version doesnt even run in 720p cause its just 1024 horizontal resolution. In other words the console version doesnt run even in low 720p HD at all while the PC version can basically run in 4K. NOt to speaking that the console version has abyssmal frame rate stutter while the PC version does not and can run now (in beta version) on 60fps instead of 30 which makes the game more smooth.
Tell you what guys I sailed through Dark Souls (70 hours lol!) but I am playing Demon Souls right now and Im finding it hard as hell! Can get passed the tower knight! I miss the estus flasks!
@garysingh34 I find the biggest boss problem were the two gargoyles (can't remember what they were called). Always knocked me off the damn ledge. The estus flasks and the bonfires made dark souls way easier than demons souls.
@einrazer@garysingh34 maneaters is what they r called (ye, nelly furtado actually sings about them). they r highly susceptible to fire. firestorm or what's it called (u get it from the witch for the dragon god's soul) is a VERY good tactic. at the beginning of the fight the 1st dude will come towards u which is an excellent opportunity to take him out right away (IF u r able to use that spell and can enhance it). and don't be emberassed there is not a single DS player in the world who didn't get knocked of the edge by them at least once ;)
Stay outside his melee range, the best spot is waiting on the stairs, cast fire on your weapon, Tower Knight lack fire resistance. Watch his arm, and run below him, and hit his foot until he falls down. Hit hard his head . Repeat this method and you will win .
@garysingh34 The Tower Knight isn't that hard, bring a Longbow and 200+ good arrows. Stay in the upper part of the fortress, aim for the head and, when he starts to throw the spear, shoot him..
@franzito@mjtplayer I killed Old King Doran with a cheap tactic at lvl 35 :3 Luring him back and forth outside of the cathedral to the towers and hitting him as he retreats make him an easy fight for noobs
