WarZ is horrible in many ways, the only reason I played it is because of the skill level up, and the Global inventory. I stopped playing WarZ due to too many Hackers. DayZ I am currently giving it out a try.

Dean Hall says situation surrounding Hammerpoint's zombie survival game made him consider quitting game development altogether.
Creator of Arma II mod Day Z Dean Hall has spoken out about the situation surrounding Hammerpoint Interactive's The War Z, saying the controversy has left him "depressed" and led to him considering quitting game development altogether. Writing on Reddit as "rocket2guns," Hall broke his silence.
"I know I have been very quiet lately. So this will be really all I'll say for the moment. I've been pretty depressed about the whole situation," Hall said. "From a personal standpoint, this whole 'saga' of the development made me seriously question if I wanted to be involved in the industry and I gave serious thought to cutting my losses and not being involved in the project."
Hall said he has been "hammered" with requests from media and fans alike, asking for his take on the situation and for further information about Day Z. He declined to provide any insight, noting he is keeping to himself while working on Day Z along with the rest of the development team.
Hall said he discovered during his Army discharge medical examination this week that he has high blood pressure and "some things in life just aren't worth worrying about."
Controversy surrounding The War Z came to light upon the game's release through Steam this week. Users quickly began reporting numerous issues with The War Z. Further, many players criticized the game and developer Hammerpoint for being misleading and for censoring their comments about issues with the game. The game has since been pulled from Steam.
As for Day Z, Hall and his team are currently working on a standalone version of the zombie game to be published by Bohemia Interactive in 2013 for PC.

I've seen a lot of DayZ and while it sounds good, it looks like shit. Arma is a terrible engine and you can see how horrible it is within 1 minute of gameplay, the way zombies warp around and the way they are animated. Though really they both look like crap. When Dead Island is the standard by which to measure if the game flows like shit or not - no offense to DI i love the fuck out of it to this day - they need to think outside the box. Really though you aren't going to have any success making a persistent online MMO-type zombie game. They could learn a few lessons from PlanetSide2 but still........idk.
This guy is being a bit of a drama queen isn't he lol That game doesn't have anything to do with his so why is he so depressed? I understand it might tarnish his product when people get the two confused but seriously dude bring it down a notch. Also I guess reading comprehension isn't taught in school anymore since quite a few morons can't quite seem to comprehend that this guy didn't have anything to do with WAR Z and he's the dev on the ArmA 2 mod (stand alone game soon enough) DAY Z. I haven't played either, I just read the article and I managed to figure that out.
i'll bet 'delusional' was also in his discharge papers if he thinks he should still have a spot in the industry

Agreed The War Z is a giant pile of crap, and Day Z Mod is also a pile of crap. They are both old (dated) crappy. Generic Death Match Shooters that should have PVP kill streaks rewards! The War Z WAS advertised as a MMORPG that's why people are upset!!! There are zero PVE servers; nor any persistent world, nor ANY RPG elements of any kind, or any upgradable (building blocks trading) strongholds with farming or stores, nor any crafting, zero skill tress or levels, and the reputation system is broken! You just re-spawn with NOTHING to show for all your time spent all gear gone, just go PVP again! Day Z is a Mod made to a shooter, and the other is a direct port from a failed shooter! There is no VoIP. The game engines imho can?t support a true Zombie (Just Retextured Player Models) survival MMO or any kind of persistent world, and defiantly can?t support a MMORPG with crafting and a player driven economy with Player Stats and persistent gear! That?s why a lot of people felt let down and depressed, maybe this guy is upset because that?s what his intention was for the Day Z Stand Alone, just a port of old game with mod built in from the ground up ? but still just a PVP shooter! Just get rid of the Zombies and drop ordnance for PVP kill streaks! I?ll end with a quote from The Walking Dead ? ?We don?t kill the living? <-Think about it when assessing a True MMO Zombie Apocalypse Survival game where people should band together fortify trade with other groups and go scavenging for things they get to keep once found through Hard Dangerous Work!

People kill eachother all the time in zombie apocalypses, and that they were able to put this aspect into the game is amazing. You gotta make a choice berween teaming up and risking to get shot in the back, or to go lone wolf. This isn't Call of Duty - thank god for that - and the mod has its flaws and the limitations of the game engine, but that's why they're doing a standalone. If you prefer WoW and CoD then good for you, but don't expect DayZ to go from an indie, innovative game to a generic, boring shooter.
5 Like @ZJohnnyZ CoD fanboy? DayZ is, for now at least, just a mod. And ArmA 2 is not an arcade CODstyle shooter for 10 yo kids who are raging. It's a military sim, the best there is. And it's amazing.

3 Like DayZ is a mod (Wasn't made a shooter it already was) and both games are not Death match Shooters. You need to look up the term MMORPG. Also DayZ was never advertised as an MMO. DayZ was designed as a survival game nothing more. It has done that very well for a MOD yes it has its bugs but, soon will have its own release hopefully polishing all of that.

1 Like by the way the game war z is going, problems in the game and getting kicked off of steam. its a sign that war z should be put on the way back corner of a shelf and collect dust. I think dayz stand alone might do better off the line. I had to laugh about spookysev comment that warz is on the top 10 at 2. gaming is really a laughing joke for a few moments.
Steam interview say they are working on making the standalone for all consoles :) So xbox Ps3 and PC fanboys can enjoy :) YiP YiP Yippy!

i hate the targeting system in online MMOs. You shoot the target and a lapse between you seeing his head/body get hit and him falling down. It looks fake. They should at least put a animation that would compensate for this delay cause probably by the server responding too slow. You feel more like luck than actual experience. Processing of bullet hits should be done locally on the gamer's PC rather than by the server. It would give a much better response time and les strain on the server. As for the excuse "people will find a way to cheat if we use this technique", it doesn't matter, people will always find a way to cheat. drop the value of killing a target, add less loot and so on, but make the experience flawless. and for GODs sake, make some better textures. Half Life 1 had more detail than most MMO's today.
2 Like Wut both games are not MMO's. WTF are you talking about ? HL1 wasn't an MMO nor did it require server to client issues that MMO's go through. That is why textures are low in MMO's.
@sammoth @G-Man4ever There are some MMO's with high-res textures... Like DDO, LOTRO, Aion, etc.
As well as Perfect World... Even though that game is shitty, the graphics are beautiful

5 Like @myungish He's depressed (I think) because he's been pouring his heart and soul into something, and somebody went and brutally, shamelessly plagiarized it for their own gain. That would be pretty demoralizing. I think this whole thing might work out to his advantage though. All of the negative attention for The WarZ and Hammerpoint Interactive may translate into increased awareness about DayZ. I know I'm going to support DayZ with my patronage as a result of this.
@Rippletonz @myungish I thought the same. It's difficult to just ignore someone throwing a game together and then claiming that it was their idea all along. I imagine it really does take a lot of the joy out of making dayZ for him being questioned about it all the time. I hope it does work to his advantage in the end; I for one, will certainly be buying dayZ.
